Chapter Two: Very Nearly Veela
AN: This looked fun and a nice break from my struggles with my other story ^_^
+++++
Severus Snape liked his solitude.
After the War, he had become reclusive, and had quit is job at Hogwarts altogether.
His loathing for that job was too much for words, and the day Voldemort died was the day he had handed in his resignation letter.
No more brats to look after, no more dealing with Slytherins sucking up to him, no more dealing with insufferable know it alls, and no more dealing with dunderheads.
A new page in his life, and he was enjoying it thoroughly.
To support himself, he wrote the odd article for various potions magazines, and Dark Arts Weekly.
But mostly he experimented, he had built himself quite a nice next egg from his years of torture in the Hogwarts Halls, vowing that when he was free he would do everything at his leisure.
His current project was trying to find a cure for the Blood Bond, which foolish witches and wizards sometimes took to “seal their love” so they put it, when in fact, after 100 years being forcefully stuck to someone, they got nasty and wanted a way out.
Since no other person qualified to be able to find this cure would dare touch such ancient magic, Severus thought he would give it a go. Due to him needing a challenge, and his making a nice mint on his Lycanthropy cure, he had decided to tinker in things that were deemed impossible to change.
Stretching himself in his comfortable chair, he idly ran his finger down the page of this book, his brow furrowed as he reread the line, “only those who have true love will the blood bond take to and seal forever”, some sentimental fool had probably wrote that, came his thought, or how else would it explain Malfoy and Narcissa?
Closing his eyes, he thought of Narcissa, fragile and beautiful, but in constant loathing of her husband. Her request that he find a way to break it, had not come as a surprise. It was the biggest known secret that her marriage wasn’t one of taste. Lucius’ philandering had met its limits, and she was tired of being used as a trophy wife.
Rubbing his nose, Severus wondered how true the line was.. it would only take to the persons “true love” ? So say, he went and did the blood bond with someone he entirely loathed, it would mean that he wouldn’t be bound to them, due to it failing.
A loud ringing noise, caused him to sit up, and glare up towards the floo in the other room. Wondering who had the nerve to floo in at him without a prior appointment, he set his book aside and took his own sweet ass time getting to the floo.
Who he saw, or more presumably, the persons head he saw, did not improve his mood at all.
Head Healer of St Mungos Hospital, Cursadrus Hilwrite, peered out at him, his tired face full of worry.
“Ah, Hilwrite, what brings you here?” Snape sneered, letting his displeasure be known.
The pesky healer hadn’t let him alone ever since he had found the cure for Lycanthropy, and Snape rued the day he had ever had the bright idea to cure werewolves of their misery.
“Severus, I was hoping you could help us with something, I wouldn’t normally bother you like this –“ at that remark a rather audible snort came from Severus’ direction-“ but this is really a dire situation.”
“Get on with it, I don’t have all day.”
Cursadrus quivered for a second, before steeling his nerves, “Well you see uhm, one of our patients got in between a Veela fight and now, we’re unsure, but we think, she may be transforming into a Veela herself. And we’re not quite sure, she seems to be in terrible pain-“
“I’ll be there right away.” Severus cut him off, before packing the instruments of science, that he would need, with some books that could help, before directly flooing to St Mungos.
The idea of someone turning into a Veela was very interesting to Snape, something that didn’t occur often if ever.
After harassing the nurse of the whereabouts of this patient, his cape flowing bat like around him, Snape headed towards the patient. A vicious gleam for knowledge in his eyes.

AN: Alright! someone take it from there! I’m interested to see what happens between Snape and Hermiones first encounter.
