Chapter One

Frozen inside without your touch
Without your love, darling
Only you are the life among the dead

--EVANESCENCE

Silver moonlight streamed in through the crystal clear windows, illuminating the bedroom with radiant beams of pale light. A soft flutter of dark wings could be heard just outside, and a dark shape was hovering just on the other side of that thin glass.

An enchanting voice cooed like a soothing stream of bubbling cool water across Harry’s white flesh. The red silk sheet hissed down his naked body as he walked towards the shining image in the window.

“Let me in, Harry.” That gentle voice called in echoes of promised bliss. “Please, let me in.”

A pale, slender hand reached out and unlocked the window. It swung open and a soft rain of glowing red rose petals blew all around him, permeating the air with their fragrance.

“Cedric?” Harry whispered. His emerald eyes glazed over with unshed tears.

He was gently enveloped in strong, glowing, alabaster arms. Those smoky gray eyes looked as they could suck him down into a fiery furnace of ecstasy.

Those large, bat-like wings, shimmered like the darkest of onyx, wrapped around the two of them like a cocoon. Glowing red lips were burning like a flame against Harry’s chilled flesh.

“Don’t lock me out, Harry.” Cedric whispered like soft falling snow. “I’m not gone.”

Harry trembled in that powerful embrace and the molten tears streamed from his green gemstones. These tears were bleeding straight from his bruised and battered heart.

He started crying and it came from deep within his aching soul. He didn’t want to be alone. The sobs racked his small frame as he clung to Cedric with all his might.

“I love you, Harry.” Cedric said, smiling like a radiant silver star in the night sky. His hair fell across his face like molten streams of golden fire.

Harry rested his head against that cool, marble sculpted chest. He had a hand slightly above a pale pink nipple, realizing that no heart was beating within.

“Please?” Cedric begged, squeezing Harry to him. “Tell me that you love me, too, Harry.”

He gazed up into that heartbreakingly handsome face, feeling himself being pulled away by an invisible tug.

“Harry?” Cedric begged, losing his grip on him. “Please, tell me that you love me, too.”

“I love you.” Harry said, arms being forced to release him. “I love you, so very much, Cedric.”

“I’m not gone!” Cedric’s voice echoed after him, blood red petals swirling madly around him. “Don’t lock me out! Harry!”

Cedric opened his molten mercury orbs, ivory white fangs sliding down from their fleshy pink pockets in his mouth, and he snarled like a pissed off alligator. He had been so close!

He threw his head back, screaming Harry’s name into the frigid night.

Harry woke up, crying out Cedric’s name. His hand collided with Ron’s face, causing the redhead to squawk, and duck away from him.

“Harry!” Hermione yelled, suddenly at his side. “It was only a dream!”

He sat up, his breathing all ragged, looking around with wide, wild, and blurry eyes. Hadn’t he fallen over in the floor by the window? Was he going crazy? He could smell roses.

“Someone was at the window.” He whispered, pointing a trembling finger at it.

“Sirius found you in the floor.” Ron said, rubbing his reddening cheek where Harry had smacked him a good one.

Hermione nodded. “You were sleepwalking again.”

“Roses.” Harry said, looking down at his sheets. “They were dripping red with blood and they smelled so sweet.”

Ron made a face of disgust. He hated the sight of blood, even the fake kind, too.

“There are no roses, Harry.” Hermione told him, taking his trembling hand in her own. “It was all a dream.”

“Sorry.” Harry said, looking over at Ron’s blurred image on his other side.

Ron nodded, handing him his glasses. “Are you hungry?”

Harry looked at the window and shook his head. “Not really, Ron.”

Hermione got up and pulled on his hand. “You have to eat something. You’re as white as a piece of paper.”

Harry gazed over at Ron for help, but the redhead merely shrugged his shoulders at him. “You better do as she says if you know what’s good for you.”

“Come on.” She said, pulling him to his feet. “Ron’s mother has fixed a fine breakfast, Harry.”

Harry sighed, following them from the room, only to stop, and look back at the window. The name fell from his lips before he thought.

Cedric?

“Don’t lock me out, Harry.” A whisper echoed in his soul. “I’m not gone.”

“What is it?” Ron asked from the hall.

“I’ll be right down.” Harry told him.

He walked back over to the window, looked out, and unlocked it.
