Star Gazer
Chapter 2
Severus walked through the archives. Shelves of data cards and holopads lined the walls, along with holoimage and statues of Jedi, past and present. He stopped at on image that caught his eye. There were twelve men and women standing in front of the academy. Kneeling in the front row were Hermione, Mara, Harry, and Luke, all four were wearing bright laughing smiles.
“I remember when this was taken,” Mara said as she stepped up beside him.
“I didn’t know Potter and Granger were Jedi,” Severus replied in surprise.
“Oh yeah. They are the youngest Jedi Knights. You see those standing behind us?” she asked.
“Yes,” he nodded.
“They were killed four days after this was taken. That was the first time the Jedi ever encountered the Death Eaters. A group of them landed and attacked the academy. Hermione, Luke, Harry, and I are the only ones of that twelve that survived. Hermione nearly died that day trying to protect me,” she sighed.
“What happened?” he questioned, studying the image.
“I got hit by a blaster by some man with platinum blonde hair. Hermione jumped in and began fighting him. She would have beat him had he not pulled out his wand and hit her with a curse. He got away along with six other from the twenty that attacked,” she explained.
“Wait a second, are you telling me she fought Lucius Malfoy and lived to tell about it?” he gasped in awe.
“Yes. She spent two months in the medical unit. She and Harry were forever changed that day,” she nodded solemnly.
“When did this happen?” he demanded quietly.
“Three years ago. Harry had just turned seventeen and Hermione was almost eighteen,” she replied.
Severus fell silent. He remember when Harry and Hermione had returned for their seventh year. The pair had kept to themselves for nearly four months. It wasn’t until after Christmas they we back to themselves.
“How did you discover they were Jedi?” he asked.
“With Hermione and Harry, it’s in their blood. Both their parents were Jedi. Harry’s parents trained on their own, but Hermione’s parents were trained by the old Jedi Order and fought in the war. At least until Aunt Angel became pregnant with Hermione. Then they went to stay on Earth to be with James and Lily,” she answered.
“Lily never told me. She was my best friend,” he whispered.
“She was only protecting herself and James. She had hoped Voldemort would never find out,” she sighed.
Severus followed Mara as she led him into an adjacent chamber. This one was filled with nothing but holoimages. She took him to one picture in particular.
“This was taken the day after the academy opened. Hermione was fifteen at the time. Her parents were killed a month later and that’s when I became her guardian,” she said.
Severus studied the picture. Hermione stood between her parents, smiling happily as she held her purple lightsaber. She was wearing Jedi blacks and her long hair was pulled back in a tight braid. She looked so happy.
“I’ve misjudged her and Potter,” he whispered.
“That’s why Albus sent you here. So you could learn things you never knew before,” she stated.
“And Weasley?” he questioned.
“To be trained. Harry and Hermione have been training him, but Luke and I will complete his training. As far as we know, he’s the only one in his family who is Force sensitive,” she answered.
“How is Miss Granger doing?” he inquired.
“She was released this morning. She’ll be back to full strength in a about a week. Luke, Harry, and Ron see here everyday,” she replied.
Severus just nodded. He continued to look at the images. He stopped in front of one that caught his eyes. Hermione and Luke were standing in front of her ship, both wearing their Jedi blacks. What surprised him was Luke was holding her tenderly to his side, the way a lover would.
‘Granger and Master Skywalker? Let us hope Voldemort doesn’t discover this,’ he thought.

Hermione stood at her window. From her apartment, she could see Luke, Mara, and Harry finishing Ron’s Jedi training. She had been released from the medical unit the day before. Though she felt fully healed, the doctors wanted her to keep her left arm in a sling for another week.
“Excuse me Mistress Hermione,” 3PO said as he approached.
“Yes 3PO?” Hermione asked.
“A Professor Snape is here. He says he’d like a word with you,” 3PO replied.
“Show him in please,” she nodded without turning from the window.
3PO turned and left the living room. Hermione remained at the window watching Ron. She felt Severus enter the room. Slowly, she turned and faced her former potions professor.
“Jedi Granger,” Severus bowed.
“Please, have a seat,” she nodded. The two sat on the sofa. “So, what did you want to speak to me about?” she questioned.
“Actually, I came here to apologize. Ever since you first entered my classroom, I have misjudged you. I hope you can forgive me for that,” he explained.
“There’s no need to apologize. It’s an easy mistake. Only Albus and Minerva knew the truth about Harry and me. If I were in your shoes, I’d have made the same assumptions,” she smiled.
“Thank you,” he replied.
“You can call me Hermione. After all, you are no longer my professor,” she smirked.
“Then you may call me Severus,” he chuckled.
Just then, Hermione’s commlink went off. “Granger,”
“Hey kiddo, how you feeling?” came Han Solo’s voice.
“Hello Han. I’m doing fine. I should have the sling removed next week,” she grinned.
“Good. Is Luke around?” Han asked.
“No, he’s teaching. Is everything alright?” she answered.
“Everything’s fine. Leia and I were going to come visit. Luke just wanted us to call first,” Han said.
“Well, I’ll have him call once he gets back,” she replied.
“Good. Well, take care and may the Force be with you,” he laughed. Hermione just giggled and ended the transmission.
“Who was that?” Severus questioned.
“That was Han Solo, Luke’s brother-in-law,” she said.
“Well, I should let you get some rest. Good day Hermione,” he bowed.
“Good day Severus,” she replied, returning the bow.

Voldemort stood in his private office aboard the Star Destroyer CHIMERA. He was furious. His Death Eaters had failed to destroy Hermione Granger. Just then, Lucius and Draco entered the room.
“Ah, my faithful Malfoys. Care to explain how you two managed to fail in destroying that annoying Jedi Hermione Granger?” Voldemort hissed.
“My Lord, she used the Force to get her ship to that moon,” Draco protested.
“Yes and now she is reunited with her lover Jedi Master Skywalker! The very thing I wanted to avoid! It will be even harder to kill her as long as she is with him!” Voldemort raged.
“My Lord, I have a suggestion,” Lucius said. Voldemort nodded for him to continue. “Allow me to lead a squad of storm troopers. I can sneak into the academy, grab her, and bring her back here. Alive,” Lucius explained.
“Hmmm. You may yet be able to fix this mess. I will speak to Admiral Palleon. You are dismissed,” Voldemort ordered.
Lucius and Draco bowed then exited the room. Voldemort quickly sent for Palleon. Twenty minutes later, plans were made. “Soon, Granger, you’ll be mine,” Voldemort laughed evilly.
