Chapter 2

Chapter2

Last time:

Godric was still with his back to Salazar. With a jerk he stood up. Salazar was just about to ask what was wrong, when Griffindor spoke up. “ I’m going to marry in a week.”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The world crumbled for Slytherin. “ What?” He breathed. His voice still a little rough from sleep. Hadn’t they been together for 4 months now? Did Godric just used him to have fun. Weren’t they friends? Even Lovers? Salazar clenched the sheets in his hands as he trembled. Eyes staring at Griffindor’s back.

“ She’s a beautiful woman I met a year ago in a Muggle village. We’ve been together ever since that and…I love her, Salazar.” Griffindor turned around, searching for Slytherin’sbeautiful green eyes. “Salazar you have to understand it, please...”

“ Get out!” Growled Salazar without looking at Godric.“Salazar please listen..”

“ LEAVE!” Slytherin jerked his head up his emerald eyes gleaming eerily.

Godric felt a painful blow at his chest as he was knocked backwards by wordless magic. The auburn haired wizard groaned as he stood up from the floor and looked at Salazar. His eyes begging at Salazar to understand but they found only Slyterin’s hateful eyes staring back at him. With a pain in his chest that he tried to ignore, he got up, grabbed his coat and turned around. His boots echoing from the stone walls as he walked through the chamber. The door fell shut with a Thud.

Salazar’s head dropped. His blond hair falling around his face, hiding it like a veil. Salazar’s body trembled as a single tear dropped on his hand.

Tears ran down Kathy’s face .// How could he. How could Godric do that to Salazar. That bastard!!// She sniffed quietly and wiped her eyes with the back of her sleeve. Before Kathy knew it the scene had changed again.

The once so warm and friendly Chamber reminded more of the Chamber that Kathy had seen first. The bed was gone and the second chair at the Fireplace was currently crackling in the fire as the tongues of the flames licked over the wood and leather. A person sat slumped down in the other chair watching as the fire consumed the armchair.

Kathy walked slowly closer.

Slytherin’s face was sunk in. The once beautiful alabaster colored skin was marred with stubble of a beard. A whiskey glass slipped of his hand and shattered on the ground. The sharp scent of Firewhiskey rising to his nose.

Godric had really done it. He had married that filthy muggle today. Of course Salazar hadn’t attended that wedding. This had caused Rowena and Helga to look for him in his private chambers. He had to send the two rudely away, telling them that he wouldn’t attend the wedding of scum, before he slammed the door shut in their faces.

Salazar didn’t want to stay here in Hogwards, watching as Godric made fun of Salazar by embracing, kissing that Inferior Woman. The woman Griffindor had preferred to Salazar.

Stepping into the shards of glass as he stood up, he grabbed his furlined wintercoat. With a determined look in his eyes he pulled the coat over his shoulders and left the chamber. His cloak billowing behind him. He wouldn’t return before he had found someone who took his place as Head of the house Slytherin.

Fog crept over the floor towards Kathy. It came closer and closer, rising until all Kathy was able to see was the grey mist that surrounded her. She was about to yell for help when the fog suddenly lifted and revealed the Great hall.

Snowflakes danced from the enchanted ceiling. Some of the white flakes melting over the floating candles above the students and Professors. The founders of the School, Godric Griffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff sat at the great table at the far end of the Hall. Griffindor had changed over the 4 years that Salazar was gone. He wore a beard and his once wavy auburn hair had grown longer and straightened from the weight. Godric laughed at something what his wife next to him had said. But his eyes held a sadness hidden deep inside.

The doors of the great hall burst open. All the heads in the Hall turned to the heavy oak door. A man dressed in a black coat with white fur lining the hood and the coat stalked in. With long legs he strode down the Hall towards the Great Table. Griffindor stood up “ Who are you?”

Ignoring Griffindor’s question the man’s hand moved to his hood and pulled it back. Revealing a bearded and long haired Salazar Slytherin. “ Good evening Rowena, Helga!” he greeted rather lamely.

The older students on the Slytherin table cheered as they recognized their Head of the house.

Salazar walked up to the table and summoned himself a chair next to Helga. Even if he didn’t like her much, he preferred a place next to her than next to Griffindor or his Muggle wife.

Slytherin could feel Godric’s eyes following him as he sat down and answered the curious questions of his female colleagues politely but short. His once lively eyes had grown cold and uncaring through his years in Siberia.

He was about to warm his chilled body with a tea when the small door at the side of the head table opened and a little boy padded in. “ Father...please read me a story.” pleaded the little boy and walked to Godric to look at him with puppy dog eyes. A much to longer night robe falling around his small body.

Salazars eyes widened in shock. // Godric has a son…with that scum?// Even if he already had despised that muggle born witch, before, now everything that he felt was pure hatred for that mud-blood running through his veins. He excused himself from the table and left the Great Hall. Sadness and hurt reflected in Godric’s eyes as he followed Salazar with his eyes longing.

Kathy felt dizzy from all the scene changes. Luckily the change back to the Chamber of secrets wasn’t as sudden as the other times.

Slytherin stood at the far end of the Chamber. Hiding something under his coat. He lifted his wand slowly and pointed it at the wall. Salazar started to mumble a spell. White sparkles shooting out of his want and hit the wall. A rumbling filled the whole room as the wall started to change, to grow more out. And when the noise ebbed down there was the grumpy looking head of Salazar Slytherin carved for eternity into the rock.

Salazar hissed a command in Parsel and the stone mouth opened. He walked in, and when he came back out his arms were empty.

“ Someone will follow my lead. The mud-bloods will learn where they belong. To the Dirt.” growled the blond wizard darkly as he walked to the fireplace, where he sat down and sipped a Firewhiskey.

*~*~*

The next time that Salazar walked into the darkened and gloomy Chamber he had changed considerably. His once blond hair had white streaks in some places. With billowing robes he strode towards the stony mirror of his head. He mumbled and murmured angrily. But what shocked Kathy weren’t the harsh words he murmurred. It were his eyes. They had lost the sparkle that, even after Godric had left him, had existed and had shown his will to fight for his lover. And even the deep hatred that she had often seen in Salazar’s eyes was amiss.

All Kathy could see was the agony and despair in those deep emerald eyes.

Tears shone in Slytherins eyes. Godric had betrayed him, not only his love but also his friendship. He didn’t care if Godric didn’t know what that Medallion had meant to him or didn’t remember that he had given it to him as a present when they were still friends.

Only hours before had Godric approached Salazar, asking him for the necklacehe had given him a long time ago. But what Salazar hadn’t knowmwas that behind those hazel eyes Godric had hidden the desire, the love, he still felt for his former best friend and lover.

Salazar leaned against the wall where years ago had crackled a warm and inviting fire. A trembling hand covered his eyes as he sobbed quietly. His hair falling around his face like a veil. That silver medallion had meant the world to him. It had been the last reminder of Godric and his friendship. Now he had nothing. Neither Godric’s Friendship, his love nor the necklace.

“ What’s left of all the things I loved? ...Nothing..” Salazar’s bitter words echoed through the Chamber.

Slytherin lifted his head, staring directly at the stone statue. The determined look in his eyes frightening Kathy.

Pushing himself off the wall he took a step closer to the statue, and another step and another. He walked to his mirror image and whispered a Parsel command. Stone slid over stone as the mouth opened.

A silently hissed question floating from the darkness within the statue. Salazar declined.

The blond wizard turned to look over his shoulder and let his eyes wander through the Chamber. So many memories were made in here. Too many to live with them. With dull eyes he turned back to the statue and disappeared inside before the mouth closed again.

“No....” Kathy sobbed. “ Oh please god…No.” Her shaky knees buckled and she sunk to the ground. “ Please tell me he didn’t do that.”

The ghostly memory disappeared, only leaving the sobbing Kathy in the creepy Chamber of secrets.

Suddenly the ground in front of her rumbled. The stone ground right before her cracked rearranging themselves magically and Kathy crawled scared backwards. // What’s happening here? Did I break something?//

A stone sarcophagus with a marble statue lying atop rose in front of her.

With still wobbly legs she stood up and looked at the face of the marble statue. Kathy gasped surprised as she recognized the face. It was Godric Griffindor’s tomb.

Even in the statue’s face she could recognize pain and sadness. Something shiny caught Kathy’s eye and she looked down to Griffindor’s hands. Godric’s stony fingers held the silver medallion, that he once gave Salazar, tight in his hands.

All this romance and drama made the Griffindor girl cry again. “ Why were you so stupid Godric? He loved you and you loved him, and yet you left him.”

With red and puffy eyes she stepped slowly closer to the Slytherin’s stone head and ordered the statue to open up.

Scared of what would await her in the darkness of the hidden cave the Griffindor girl walked carefully, minding each step, into the ‘Terra Incognito’.

There was a long quietness before a sob ripped the eerie silence of the Secret Chamber followed by a thud as Kathy fell to her knees.

It took Kathy minutes before she came back out. The Griffindor girl walked straight to Griffindor’s tomb. Pulling her wand out she pointed it to the empty space next to it. A Bright blue flash shot from the tip of her want. With a sizzling sound it hit the stone floor. It rumbled and cracked and as the dust fell to the floor again a carved tomb stood next to Griffindor’s. It wasn’t as beautiful as Godric’s, but it was at least a tomb. A place where someone can rest in peace. With a swish of her Wand and a mumbled “ Alohomora” she lifted the cover stone of the tomb and lay it to the side.

Taking a deep breath Kathy turned back to the statue and walked back in. Only moments later she came back out. Carrying a bundle of clothes and..bones in her arms.

Salazar had committed suicide in the cave. Now after almost 1000 years there were only his skeleton and some shards of fabric left of him. With her eyes swimming in tears she carried the skeleton to the tomb and lay it gently down.

Kathy tried to arrange the bones like they were before and when she was satisfied with the outcome, she stepped back and lifted the cover back on the top.

But something was missing. Something wasn’t right. The medallion in Godric’s hands caught her eye again. She stepped between the two tombs and lay her hands on the stone hands of Godric’s statue. The marble felt warm almost like it was flesh that she was touching. Kathy took the medallion that dangled from the necklace in Griffindor’s hands and pulled it gently from his hands. She expected more resistance, his fingers looked so cramped up around the medallion, but it easily slipped from the marble fingers.

Kathy stood at Slytherin’s tomb and looked down on the rough cover. // That’s not worth of a Hogwarts founder. It should be more// She pointed her want at the cover one more time and carved ‘Salazar Slytherin - Founder of Hogwards-‘ into the cover. Smiling slightly as she saw the letters she put the medallion on the top and stepped back to look at the two tombs.

Suddenly a light breeze whispered through the chamber. Dust from the floor flew up and danced through the air. Before the Griffindor knew what was happening a ghost or a memory or whatever it was stood up from the tombs cover stone.

The ghost didn’t look like the statue of Godric Griffindor, not like his old self anyway. He looked younger, more like the Godric she had met first time in the memories of the Chamber, like the wizard that had loved Salazar freely.

Godric turned his head to Kathy. He smiled gently before he turned to Salazar’s tomb. His eyes searching for something, for someone.

Water splashed behind Kathy and Godric’s ghost and they turned. In one of the water pools that had built over the years stood Salazar Slytherin. His blond hair moving with a wind that only the two spirits could feel…

His sparkling emerald eyes were directed at Godric. Salazar opened his mouth slowly. “ What...are you doing here Godric? Aren’t you supposed to be somewhere else?” His words drifted through the chamber.

A pained sob ripped from Godric’s throat and he ran over to Salazar. Griffindor wrapped his arms tightly around the surprised looking wizard. “ Salazar…Oh god Salazar! You were suddenly gone. You left me.” He buried his face in the blond one’s shoulder, not wanting to ever let him go again. “I love you Salazar. I love you so much. Please forgive me. Forgive me for leaving you for hurting you. You were the only one I ever loved.” Slytherin’s eyes closed as a lone tear ran down his cheek. Slowly he lifted his arms. And as he embraced Godric’s body equally tight, whispering. “ I love you too.” Kathy could feel warmth spreading from the two lovers

Salazar’s and Godric’s lips met and in a burst of light the two dissappeared.

The only one left was the blond Griffindor girl that had watched the scene with a happy smile.

“ I hope they can rest in peace now...together!”

The End
