I'm a Wizard!!!?

Notice: I was planning to jump from First year to the Sixth year. But I have decided against it. I will jump maybe two years, or so. But for this reason, I have made a few changes to the ending of this chapter.

A/N: Part of this chapter is from book one, with some of my twists. Hope you don't mind. I just wanted to make it more believable. Please don't forget to let me know what you think. I have been slaving away all day on this one chapter.
Enjoy!

Chapter 2: I'm a Wizard!

********************************************************************************

July 31, 1999

Young Harry Potter looked out the window from the little shack that his uncle, had taken them. There was a storm outside, Harry could see the waves splashing on the rocks around the shack. 'There was a reason for them to be here, for some strange reason Uncle Vernon didn't want him(Harry) to receive that mysterious letter that keep on coming no matter what.' thought Harry, 'Why?...Why can't I open it?... Who is it from? There wasn't anyone that he knew to be writing to him' he ponders this for a while longer.

Today is his birthday, but like every other birthday, Harry didn't look forward to this day. All he ever got on this day was a right slap on the face and a list of chores to do for his Aunt Petunia.

He desperately wished that they were back at Private Drive, that way he would at least have the consolation of his only friend Slyther, a garden snake that he has known since he was 7 years old.

His thoughts were interrupted by a loud...

BOOM

His head shot up so fast that he gave himself whiplash. He looked from His Aunt coming down the stairs to his Uncle, who was standing at the foot of the stairs, Dudley was still sitting on an old sofa. But that quickly change when there was another...

BOOM

"Who's there?" Uncle Vernon shouted. "I warn you--I'm armed!"

There was a pause. Then--

SMASH!

The door was hit with such force that it swung clean off its hinges and with a deafening crash landed flat on the floor.

There stood the tallest man Harry has ever seen. His face was almost completely hidden by a long, shaggy mane of hair and a wild, tangled beard, but you could make out his eyes, glinting like black beetles under all that hair.

Slowly Harry pushed himself to a shadowy corner, so as not to be seen. (which it did not work)The giant like man squeezed his way into the hut, stooping so that his head just brushed the ceiling. He bent down, picked up the door, and fitted it easily back into its frame. The noise of the storm outside dropped a little. He turn to look at them.

"Couldn't make us a cup o' tea, could yeh? It's not been an easy journey...."

He strode over to the sofa where Dudley had just moments ago sat. He sat down with such force that the sofa legs popped out. The sofa breaking in half.

"An' here's Harry!" said the giant.

Harry looked up into the fierce, wild, shadowy face and saw that the beetle eyes were crinkled in a smile.

"Las' time I saw you, you was only a baby," said the giant. "yeh look a lot like yer dad, but yeh've got yer mom's eyes."

Uncle Vernon made a funny rasping noise.

I demand that you leave at once, sir!" he said. "You are breaking and entering!"

"Ah, shut up, Dursley, yeh great prune,' said the giant; he reached over the back of the sofa, jerked the gun out of Uncle Vernon's hands, bent it into a knot as easily as if it had been made of rubber, and threw it into a corner of the room.

Uncle Vernon made another funny noise, like a mouse being trodden on.

"Anyway--Harry," said the giant, turning his back on the Dursleys, "a very happy birthday to yeh. Got summat fer yeh here-- I mighta sat on it at some point, but it'll taste all right." from an inside pocket of his black overcoat he pulled a slightly squashed box.

Harry opened it with trembling fingers. Inside was a large, sticky chocolate cake with 'Happy Birthday Harry' written on it in green icing. He looked up at the giant. He meant to say thank you, but the words got lost on the way to his mouth, and what he said instead was, "Who are you?"

The giant chuckled. "True, I haven't introduced meself. Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts."

He held out an enormous hand and shook Harry's whole arm. "What about that tea then, eh?" he said, rubbing his hands together. "I'd not say no ter summat stronger if yeh've got it, mind."

They talked for 2 hours, where Hagrid, as he liked to be called, explain everything to Harry. About how he was a wizard, how his "parents" were really murdered by Voldemort and not by some muggle car crash, as his Aunt and Uncle had said. He evened gave Harry his Hogwarts acceptance letter, and gave Dudley a curly pig's tail.

Harry and Hagrid left the shack, and went to Hagrids hut.

***********

The next morning Harry woke up to a tapping noise, at first he thought that everything that had happen last night was a dream. And that all the tapping was coming from his Aunt Petunia. His heart sinking at the thought.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

"All right," Harry mumble, "I'm getting up."

As he got up, Hagrid's heavy coat fell off him. The hut was full of sunlight, the storm was over, Hagrid himself was asleep on the collapsed sofa, and there was an owl rapping its claw on the window, a newspaper held in its beak.

Harry scramble to his feet, so happy he felt as though a large balloon was swelling inside him. He went straight to the window and jerked it open. The owl swooped in and dropped the newspaper on top of Hagrid, who didn't wake. The owl then fluttered onto the floor and began to attack Hagrid's coat.

"Don't do that." Harry tried to wave the owl out of the way, but it snapped its beak fiercely at him and carried on savaging the coat.

"Hagrid!" Harry said loudly. "There's an owl--"

"Pay him," Hagrid grunted into the sofa.

"What?"

"He wants payin' fer deliverin' the paper. Look in the pockets."

Harry looked through it for a bit...finally Harry pulled out a handful of strange-looking coins.

"Give him five Knuts," said Hagrid sleepily.

"Knuts?"

"The little bronze ones."

Harry counted out five little bronze coins, and the owl held out his leg so Harry could put the money into a small leather pouch tied to it. Then he flew off through the open window.

Hagrid yawned loudly, sat up, and stretched. "Best be off, Harry, lots ter do today, gotta get up ter London an' buy all yer stuff fer school."

Harry was turning over the wizard coins and looking at them. He had just thought of something that made him feel as though the happy inside him had got a puncture.

"Um--Hagrid?"

"Mm?" said Hagrid, who was pulling on his huge boots.

"I haven't got any money--and you heard Uncle Vernon last night...he won't pay for me to go and learn magic."

"Don't worry about that," said Hagrid, standing up and scratching his head. "D'yeh think yer parents didn't leave yeh anything?"

"But if their house was destroyed--"

"They didn' keep their gold in the house, boy! Nah, first stop fer us is Gringotts. Wizards' bank. Have a sausage, they're not bad cold--an' I wouldn' say no teh a bit o' yer birthday cake, neither."

And so on they went. Again Hagrid had to explain to Harry about wizards having this one bank run by goblins. And talked for a bit about the Ministry of Magic, and how they wanted Dumbledore to be their Minister. And the existence of Dragon as well.

******

They got to the Leaky Cauldron, in London; there Harry met the bartender name Tom, as well as Professor Quirrell.

Hagrid escorted Harry to the back. They were faced with a brick wall.

Three up...two across..." Hagrid muttered. "Right, stand back, Harry."

He tapped the wall three times with the point of his umbrella. The brick he had touched quivered--it wriggled-- in the middle, a small hole appeared-- it grew wider and wider-- a second later they facing an archway large enough even for Hagrid, an archway onto a cobble street that twisted and turned out of sight.

"Welcome," said Hagrid, "to Diagon Alley."

He grinned at Harry's amazement. They stepped through the archway. Harry looked quickly over his shoulder and saw the archway shrink instantly back into solid wall.

The sun shone brightly on a stack of cauldrons outside the nearest shop. Cauldrons--All Sizes-- Copper, Brass,Pewter, Silver--Self-Stirring-- Collapsible, said a sign hanging over them.

"Yeah, you'll be needin' one, said Hagrid, "but we gotta get yer money first."

And with that, they headed to Gringotts. Harry wishing he had eight more eyes. He turned his head in every direction as they walked up the street, trying to look at everything at once:the shops, the things outside them, the people doing their shopping.

They got to Gringotts, where Harry got some money and Hagrid took something from Vault seven hundred and thirteen.

They went back out to Diagon Alley, and walk to a cleared corner as to be able to look over Harry's list of school supplies.

"Might as well get yer uniform," said Hagrid, nodding toward Madam Malkins' Robes for All Occasion. "Listen, Harry, would yeh mind if I slipped off fer a pick-me-up in the Leaky Cauldron? I hate them Gringotts cart." He did still look a bit sick, so Harry entered Madam Malkin's shop alone, feeling nervous.

As soon as Harry had stepped into the robed shop, he started to feel this pull to the back of the shop. He felt like there was apart of him, in this shop, like his other half. He felt like, all his life he had been missing something but had never found. And now he believed he had finally found it. Madam Malkin was a squat, smiling witch dressed all in mauve.

"Hogwarts, dear?" she said, when Harry started to speak "Got the lot here-- another young man being fitted up just now, in fact."

In the back of the shop, a boy with a pale, pointed face was standing on a footstool while a second witch pinned up his long black robes. Madam Malkin stood Harry on a stool next to him, slipping a long robe over his head, and began to pin it to the right length.

Through out all this both boys stared at one another. Never taking their eyes from one another. The other boy was taller then himself, Harry noted. With Silver blond hair and the most alluring silver eyes.

"Hello," said the blond boy, "Hogwarts, too?" he asked softly.

"Yes" said Harry, never taking his eyes off of the blond.

"I'm Draco, Draco Malfoy" said the blond, trying to regain his composure, and some of his confidence. He had never been nervous before, but for some strange reason he felt a connection with this dark haired boy. He didn't want to push him away. And some how he felt that if he acted as his father had taught him to act in front of others, arrogant, superior to all. He felt that if he did this that he would end up pushing him away. He felt the other boy was just as nervous as he was.

"Harry" he answer timidly.

Draco felt that the best way to communicate with Harry, was to be straight forward. "Why, do I feel as if we've known each other all our life?" he asked.

"No idea," said Harry, "I feel as if we complete each other in some way," he said unsure if he should of said that, he didn't want to scare the other boy, by being a freak.

"I feel it too," Draco answer to Harry's immense relief.

They talked for a bit more before Narcissa came into the shop to pick up her son.

Once again, Harry felt a pull, only this time it was towards this woman.

"Hello mother," said Draco, turning to look at Harry, "Harry, this is my mother. Narcissa Malfoy, Mother this is Harry, Harry?"

"Oh!...um, Potter; Harry Potter" Harry answered.

Both Malfoy stood wide eyes for a second. Not believing that they were talking to the Savior of the Wizarding World. (Seeing as Lucius was/is a Deatheater)

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Potter." Said Narcissa, softly. Recovering first.

"Harry, please. Call me Harry."

"Alright, then I must insist that you call me Narcissa." She answer.

"Ok. Madam Narcissa." said Harry.

Draco couldn't help but to laugh at that.

At that moment, Hagrid came back. Tapping on the window of the robe shop.

"Oh, I'm sorry but I have to go, Hagrid is here to take me to finish shopping for my school supplies." Harry explain, since Madam Malkin had already finish with both boys.

"That is perfectly understandable dear. Now take care" said Narcissa.

"Harry!" Draco said, when Harry started to walk to the exit. He walked up to him, and whisper, so only Harry could hear him, "No matter what, please stay my friend, when we get to school. No matter what House we are in, OK?"

Harry smile widely, "Yes, but--what do you mean by houses?" he asked.

"I'll explain on the train on the 1st of September. OK?"

"Yeah, bye," and walked away.

****

Hagrid had bought Harry some ice cream (chocolate, raspberry with chopped nuts). They were almost finish when Hagrid decided that he was going to get Harry a birthday gift. He chose a beautiful, snow white owl. Harry named her Hedwig. Then they when to buy Harry's wand.

Hagrid stood outside, and waited for Harry to be done.

"Hello?" said Harry awkwardly.

"Ah yes," said an elderly man. Mr. Ollivander was his name. "Yes, yes. I thought I'd be seeing you soon. Lucretius M...; I mean Harry Potter." he said, quickly correcting himself.

They continue looking for a wand that suited Harry well. With a minor interruption with Hagrid. Finally after hour of searching they found the one that suited Harry well.

"Oh, bravo! Yes, indeed, oh, very good. Well, well, well... how curious... how very curios..."

He put Harry's wand back into it's box and wrapped it in brown paper, still muttering, "Curious...curious..."

"Sorry" said Harry, "but what's curious?"

Mr. Ollivander fixed Harry with his pale stare.

"I remember every wand I've ever sold, Mr. Ma...; Mr. Potter. Every single wand, It so happens that the phoenix whose tail feather is in your wand, gave another feather-- just one other. It is very curious indeed that you should be destined for this wand when it's brother-- why, its brother gave you that scar."

Harry swallowed.

"Yes, thirteen-and-a-half inches. Yew. Curious indeed how these things happen. The wand chooses the wizard, remember....After all, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things-- terrible, yes, but great."

Harry shivered. He wasn't sure he liked Mr. Ollivander too much. He paid seven gold Galleons for his wand, and Mr. Ollivander bowed them from his shop.

******************

On September 1st, Harry and Draco met up in an empty compartment, Draco made sure to put a strong locking charm and a silencing one, just incase.

"There are four Houses. There is Gryffindor, the brave at heart," Draco started to explain, "Their daring, nerve, and chivalry set Gryffindors apart; There's Hufflepuff, they're just, patient and loyal. There is Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, where those of wit and learning. And then there is Slytherin, they're cunning folk, use any means to achieve their ends. And it's been said that in this last house of snakes you can find your true friends in it." Draco finish wit the explanation. "The thing is, Harry, that I am one hundred percent sure that I will be in Slytherin,...No please wait," He said when Harry tried to say something. "Slytherin's are not liked by the other houses. They see us as evil. One of the Dark Lords minions. If, and that's a big IF, you are put in Slytherin, you will have a lot of trouble making friends, but also, it will be hard to be friends with me, they wont permit it. The other houses that is, as well as the Slytherin's. We would-- or more like I would like to keep you as my friend, even if we have to hide it." Draco finish. Looking at Harry expectantly.

Harry thought about it for a couple a minutes. "I think that they can't accept us being friends, then I don't want to be friends with them." Harry said seriously, "All my life I never had a friend, and now that I do, I wont turn by back on you. No matter what!"

The boys keep talking through out the whole train ride to Hogsmeade station.
All the first years followed Hagrid to the boat, and headed to Hogwarts.

*****

Once inside of the Great hall, they all waited for their turn, to try on the sorting hat.

"Malfoy, Draco" Professor McGonagall called out.

Draco walked to the four-legged stool. Professor McGonagall, placed the hat on his head, not 10 seconds later the hat shouted "SLYTHERIN"

"Moon"...,"Nott"...,"Parkinson"..., then a pair of twin girls, "Patil" and "Patil"..., then "Perks, Sally-Anne"..., and then at last--

"Potter, Harry"

As Harry stepped forward, whispers suddenly broke out like little hissing fires all over the hall.

"Potter, did she say?

"'The' Harry Potter?"

The last thing that Harry saw before the hat dropped over his eyes was the hall full of people craning to got a good look at him.

The Hat talked to Harry for 10 minutes, in which the hat had informed Harry that he wasn't who they thought he was.

When Harry asked what he meant by that the hat answered with; "You young man are not a Potter...only thing is that you have a barrier of some kind, preventing me to see who you really are."

Harry was curious to say the least about who he really was.

"Do not worry young sir. In do time you will know. When you turn of age, the Wizarding World will know" and with that the hat yelled out, "SLYTHERIN"

The entire hall went silence. Harry carefully made his way to the slytherin table and took his seat next to Draco.

**********************************

And so began the adventure between two brothers, though they didn't even know that they were brothers. While Harry fought through out the year with Voldemort, along side of Draco. Both Harry and Draco tries to find a way to discover the truth of Harry's heritage. Once Harry had told Draco about the incident with Mr.Ollivander and with the sorting hat. They tried charms, that revealed the family trees. They didn't work. At the end they both decided to create a potion for just that. In which they both started to work on since their second year, together.
