The trio got up and dressed for the long day ahead of them. When they went down for breakfast they found that they were up before Remus, Sirius and Ron’s brothers something that both Snape and Mrs. Weasley found curious.
“Good morning dears, what are you all doing up so early?”
No suspicious looks were exchanged by the trio, who the day before had gone over their story in preperation. They were making a concerted effort to act as they did normally despite their getting up early. Add the fact Ron was up too, apparently of his own accord and they knew that Mrs Weasley would, at the least, find their behaviour suspicious without them acting peculiar as well.
“We have a project to work on.”
“For which subject?” Severus spoke up, eyeing the three teens speculatively.
“It has nothing to do with school just some research that is stirring our curiosity.” Hermione answered him seemingly casually and with a small smile.
Snape fought the urge to bring the mud-blooded know-it-all down a peg or two. Before he had a chance to Molly spoke up,
“Ron too?”
Snape glared at them all indiscriminately, as the older woman looked to her son and his friends for an explanation.
“Yeah Mum, me too. Why’s it so hard to believe I might be interested in some work?” Ron said defensively.
“Ah, but you’ve never before displayed an… enthusiasm for anything beyond quidditch.” Snape inserted silkily, “And what work precisely would this be Mister Weasley…?”
Before Snape could further interrogate Ron, Molly cut Snape off with a look that even he quailed before. ‘Since when did that dunderhead endeavour to do required work let alone voluntary research? Those three are up to something, as per normal. I shall discover what it is’ Severus thought to himself.
“I’m sorry dear; I didn’t mean anything by asking. Now why don’t the three of you sit down and I’ll make you all some breakfast.” She told them before bustling off to do so.
Ron, Harry and Hermione sat down, in a huddle at one end of the table, sitting as far from Snape as they could whilst still remaining in the same room. When the trio were almost done with their breakfast Ginny entered along with Remus and Sirius; her hair was down, and fell in gentle waves fell about her shoulders, she was dressed in a pair of jeans and a dark green v-neck top on that accentuated her developing body. Her face seemed unusually expressionless. Harry felt a little peeved as they left after murmuring greeting to the others and thanking Molly for their meal. ‘She didn’t seem happy to see me. Why on earth was she talking to the greasy git so casually? Why did she sit near Snape and Remus instead of me…? I mean us.’ He thought as they left the room behind them before shrugging them off and returning his focus to the task at hand.
