Chp 2
About a month after Draco’s rise in power, he and his best friend/bodyguard Blaise were sitting at a little outdoor table in the Venice equivalent of Diagon Alley, which was in the complete control of Voldemort. They were discussing Draco’s marriage dilemma.
“You have to pick someone Draco. The Dark Lord is not going to allow you to stall much longer, you have to produce an heir before the war is in full swing.” Blaise said.
“I can’t just pick anyone Blaise. All those pureblooded candidates that the Lord and my mother have paraded in front of me could barely pass first year transfiguration.” Draco replied.
“So you are saying that if a Mudblood was powerful enough you were consider her?” Blaise said.
“Power is all that matters Blaise. As long as the witch is my match in power, any offspring we have will be even more powerful, and that is what the new kingdom will be about.”
“And have you talked to your ‘father’ about this idea of yours?” Blaise asked.
“Of course. Do you think he would have let me get away with refusing all those suitors if he didn’t agree with me?” Draco said. Just as they were finishing their conversation there was a commotion in the marketplace. Blaise and Draco turned to see what was going on. As they turned a young woman ran into the square at top speed clutching a loaf of bread.
“Stop her! Thief! Thief!” A man was yelling as he ran in front of a group of Death Eater guards trying to catch her.
At first Draco and Blaise merely watched with slight interest as the scene unfolded before them. Then the girl ran past their table, and Draco stiffened suddenly. Blaise looked at him curiously.
“Draco, what’s wrong man? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” He said.
“More like felt one Blaise. You can’t say you didn’t feel the power flowing out of that beggar girl.” Draco responded. With that he got up quickly and whispered a tripping spell, his wand pointed at the girl. When she tripped the guards caught up with her and started to drag her towards the jail. Draco called out to the captain of the guards.
“Bring her here Captain. I wish to get a closer look at our would be thief.”
“Yes Lord Draco.” The captain responded. The girl stiffened at the sound of Draco’s name, then seemed to go limp with resignation, as if she knew her life was over. The guards brought her over to Draco’s table, and held her up for his inspection. She had dirty matted hair caked in mud and grime, and her clothes were rags that barely clung to her filthy body. Her hair covered her face, and Draco ordered a guard to pull it away. He reached under her chin and lifted her head so he could see her face. He stared in shock.
“Granger?!”
Sorry these are so short, but I want to update often, and since I'm working and stuff I can only write so much so fast. Thank you to Lady Ryu for the review!
