Arabian Wizards

Prologue

Lord Voldemort had come back about 3 years after the Potter boy had destroyed his body. In the interim he pretty much floated around collecting information. He actually found out that the prophecy that drove him to attack the Potters was a fake made by Dumbledore to get rid of the two aurors that were starting to question Dumbledore‘s actions. He personally no longer had it in for the remaining Potter since it was just defending itself (if it actually was the magic of the boy and not an obscure protection spell that defeated him). Nobody with any sense would just stand there and allow themselves to be killed after all.

He had come back with the help of his two lovers, Severus Snape and Lucius Malfoy, using a combination of the Sorcer’s Stone and an old diary he had kept when he was young for just this reason. This way he would be able to keep his old body and still have all his powers and memories.

When he came back the war continued where it had left off but with one difference. He had given the evidence he had of Dumbledore’s treachery (along with a few other skeletons in Dumbledore‘s closet) to a news paper and had it published. Once people saw that Dumbledore was just like himself they started to throw their support with the Dark Lord. After all he had let his Dark Side out for all to see, not hiding his ruthlessness and wicked nature. Dumbledore on the other hand had hidden his nature in a façade of a harmless and eccentric old man. Apparently the evil they could see was obviously better than the hidden evil.

Dumbledore had tried to get the Potter boy so they could use him as a figure head (and eventual martyr, after all who needs a hero when the villain is defeated, he would have died heroically in the Last Battle… by whose hand remained to be seen). But Dumbledore’s negligence of the child had caused the boy to become missing. The family he had put the child with was supposed to make sure the boy was “kept in his place” so when Dumbledore came to take him to Hogwarts the boy would follow his “savior’s” every word. But the family got sick of the boy soon after the boy was given to them. They abandoned the baby in a dumpster in the slums of London never to be seen again.

So from there everything for the “Light ” side went down hill. Dumbledore was killed in the Final Battle 2 years after Voldemort’s return. Afterwards Voldemort had started to make his changes of the wizarding world. Only strong muggle-borns were allowed admittance into the world of Magic. Many muggle-borns have barely any power at all. They were taken as infants to be adopted through a blood ritual with families that wanted them. (In the wizarding world children are much harder to create than in the muggle world. Child abuse is almost unheard of, and was the crime that had the harshest punishment. If there was even the vaguest hint of any type of abuse, physical, sexual, emotional, or spiritual, there was a thorough investigation.) The harsh prejudiced restrictions of magical creatures were lifted with the rule that no wizard would be attacked unless the creature was seriously provoked (Warnings by the creature to the wizards must be made) and to be as discrete as possible when they go after muggles. Research into the phenomena of squibs was started, eventually finding a ritual that would take and store the magic power of weaker muggle-borns (without harm coming to the baby) to be given to any squib baby. Research into the muggle world was also taken up, wizards were not cut off from muggles, investments and businesses were created to be given to needy magic families. With this research the Magic world had more safeguards from the more numerous muggles. Magical islands and a continent or two were created on the sea floor, on the sea surface, on existing land, and in the sky for the wizards to live. These communities were easily hidden by magic.

Now, the many changes have helped the Magic world but don’t get the wrong idea. Voldemort cannot be termed as nice to most people. He is still ruthless and likes to punish (torture/kill) people who fail or betray him. His close family (lovers, lovers‘ family, followers that were with him in the beginning, close friends, and possibly a future child or two) are perhaps the only exception, of course if any of them were to betray him they would be tortured worse than any other.

This story starts eleven years after Voldemort came to power, sixteen years after his defeat at the hand of a child. Voldemort is the most powerful wizard on the planet. He has found a way to become immortal which he has shared with his lovers and select friends/family. All the different countries and kingdoms have come, at some point, (his power of the world was not “Official” but everyone knew that he could easily take anything he wanted) to pay their respects and show their loyalty.
