Busted
Severus Snape rushed over to Saleno, bent down and checked if she was stable.
"IF I see you doing an unforgivable curse on her again Clayworth, I’ll make sure you'll never be able to walk again!” his voice like daggers as he picked up Saleno and carried her to the hospital wing. "Clayworth! Follow me!"
oh fuck...oh fuck!! Clayworth chanted in her head while she followed Snape and looked down at her feet.
"Clayworth, how long was she under that curse? If she's permanently injured...” Snape hoarsely whispered, heavy with anger.
Irritably, Clayworth replied, "I don’t know, Sir".
Saleno suddenly began to shake, shiver, and squirm violently. "She's breaking the edge Clayworth, run to the hospital wing and tell Madam Pomfrey to come to this classroom here,” Snape gestured to the nearest door with a tilt of his head, greasy hair swishing. “We shouldn't move her till she’s safe “he said.
"Give me one reason why I should do that" Clayworth sneered as she balled her hands into fists, while she watched Snape laying Jade Saleno down gently. Snape stood up taking his full height, black deep eyes piercing through Clayworth’s soul.
"I am a PROFESSOR Clayworth! And if you don’t, she'll die, or go insane! Now go and hurry! Or I’ll make sure you’ll never pass through these gates again!" he said the last sentence in a low raspy whisper, inches away from Clayworth’s face.
Clayworth felt a cold shiver down her spine and took a few steps back, dumbfounded by Snape’s reaction and then headed to the door, breaking into a run. It took about a total of 5 minutes for Clayworth to return with Madam Pomfery at her heels.
"Poppy! She's been under the Cruciatus Curse! We don’t know for how long, can you do anything for her till I get back? I have some healing antidote in my chambers… Can you care for her till I return? I’ll be back as soon as I’m able!” said Snape as he quickly got up, ready to leave Poppy Pomfrey, the matron, alone with her Slytherin patient, Jade Saleno, and the Gryffindor culprit, Renée Clayworth.
"Of course Severus, I'll try my best. Professor Dumbledore needs to be informed of this.” replied the matron as she pulled out her wand and began to hover it over Jade’s body.
"Yes”, Snape turned to look at Clayworth as he continued, “I'll call him from my chambers as soon as I get there."
As Snape was leaving the room, he turned to Clayworth and snarled at her, "Stay!", before he broke into a run heading for his private chambers, his black cloak billowing about him like a bat in flight.
Once there, he grabbed a handful of floo powder and threw it into the fire place and yelled out into the green ambers, “Headmaster, we need you in a classroom in the fourth floor immediately, Sir!” he then turned towards his table, pulled out several books, and began to brew the antidote. After a few minutes, he corked the remedy and ran back to the fourth floor.
"Poppy, I have it!” he rushed into the classroom breathless, straight towards Saleno. He uncorked the potion, helped her sit up and forced her to drink it all down. Jade choked but some of the orange-honey like liquid dribbled down her lower lips and chin. Saleno turned pale after a few seconds, paler still, blue… exhaled and a blue mist escaped her cold lips while color flushed back into her cheeks.
“We need to take her to the hospital wing right this instant. She needs warmth, Poppy. I tried to heal most of her mental wounds but she needs your remedies."
Madam Pomfrey nodded her understanding and conjured a stretch board, hovering Saleno into it and rushing her to the hospital wing.
Clayworth watched Saleno being taken to the hospital wing and when she turned around, she saw Dumbledore, McGonagall and Snape glaring at her. She braced herself for what was about to come.
"Headmaster, that girl”, Severus Snape drew up his long slim pale index finger and pointed at Renée Clayworth, his finger tip inches from her nose, “tried to kill Ms. Saleno."
Clayworth stared at Snape coldly. "I didn’t try to kill her. We were just dueling."
She turned to Dumbledore quickly, “She started it! She was teasing me and she started the fight! Professor Dumbledore, you have to believe me!" she pleaded.
Dumbledore stared into Clayworth’s eyes and then looked at Severus Snape. "Exactly what has Ms. Clayworth done?"
"She preformed the Cruciatus curse on Jade Saleno, Sir” replied Snape.
Dumbledore raised his white bushy eyebrows, “You do know Ms. Clayworth, that the use of an unforgivable curse is a one way ticket to Azkaban?"
"Yes, I know" answered Clayworth, as she hung her head low, her hand clutching her wand tightly, almost snapping it.
"Do you also know that the use of unforgivables is forbidden in this castle?” Dumbledore’s eyes penetrated Clayworth, she felt like her mind was being read. “You are suspended for a week Ms. Clayworth, and I’m assuring you that you'll be having detention from now till the end of the year. Severus, you may go see Ms. Saleno, make sure she's OK, unless you have anything else to add?" Dumbledore peered at Snape over his half-moon glasses.
"Yes I do, Headmaster! I do have something else to add! Why does Clayworth get off that easily? She just tortured Ms. Jade Saleno! She deserves Azkaban!" Severus huffed at the old headmaster.
"Now Severus, I assure you, she won’t continue in this manner anymore nor will she repeat her behavior." Dumbledore peered down through his half moon spectacles at Clayworth. She gulped audibly.
"Please come with me Renée, we need to discuss this some more in my office." Dumbledore lead Clayworth to his office, McGonagall soon followed out of the room leaving Snape alone.
