Chapter 2

Title: Sæglópur
Rating: R-ish (This chapter has fighting and bad words!!)
Word Count: 3,944
Summary:The Marauders may have been frivolous, inconsiderate and even irrational, but they were never considered stupid.
Notes: Not a lot to say here, but I hope you guys enjoy, and if there is anything you think I should know just leave a comment!

Ginny was very excited for her trip to Hogsmead with Sirius, but she had a small nagging doubt that maybe he had been to drunk to remember that he had asked her. To avoid thinking about it, she decided to watch the lake on a late evening a few days after. It had always been a source of amusement watching the stars shine off the water, and if you were lucky you would get to see the Giant Squid poke it’s head or tentacles out of the water.

Since it was getting cold there was a thick fog around the lack that made it almost impossible to see anything reflecting off the watery surface. Ginny pressed her face against the window to try and clam all of her thoughts about school, Sirius and home. She wasn’t sure how long she’d been sitting on the windowsill and looking at the lake, until Sirius came up behind her and touched her shoulder.

“I am surprised your forehead hasn’t frozen to the glass,” he said.

“Oh, I just like looking at the lake.” She said awkwardly as she hopped down from her spot. She took a glance around the common room and noticed that everyone had gone. “Where did everyone go?”

“Well, if you hadn’t been stuck to the window for hours, you would have realized that it is well past midnight and that most sensible people are in bed.” He was smiling as he spoke.

“I guess neither of us is very sensible.” She paused for a moment and tried to think of something to say. She felt a little awkward after the night before, and was worried that she might do something to ruin it. Sirius was silent as he looked at her, and seemed to be waiting for her to say something.

“Ummm… Do you want to be very unsensible and go down to the lake?” She started to pull on a strand of her hair, and waited impatiently as the seconds between her question and his answer stretched on.

“Think of all the rules we would be breaking!” He said jokingly. “Last week we spent hours outside drinking and smoking, making it very hard to concentrate in class the next day, by the way. And now you want to go down to the lake? I think you may be a genius!” He told her to wait for a moment, and then he ran up the stairs to the boys’ dormitories.

Ginny stood where she was, biting her nails, and let out a sigh as Sirius came back holding up a shimmery cloak that made what was behind it disappear. “Just so we don’t get caught. As much as I love spending detentions with you, we cannot have this adventure interrupted!!!”

Ginny smiled as he walked over to her, wrapped the cloak around her and then held her hand as he led her out of the portrait hole.

“Maybe we can go for a swim,” he whispered close to her ear.

“Are you serious?” She had to utilize half her self-control not to break out into giggles, and the other half not to squeal in horror.

“Of course I am Sirius,” he laughed at his pun. “Come on, you saw how warm it looked, there was steam rising from the lake.”

“That was fog, you wanker! That means it is especially cold.”

“Maybe you can do a heating charm. Knowing your talent with that charm you might make it into a hot tub!”

Ginny turned her head and scowled at him, but was smiling again as soon as he kissed her cheek. Actually, he meant to kiss her cheek, but because they were trying to not fall down stairs he missed and kissed her ear instead. He had made a rather loud kissing sound; to avoid making more noise she punished him by flicking him in the nostril.

He made a barely audible ‘ouch’ sound, but continued. Before long they had reached the side of the lake that was least visible to any one looking out their windows inside the castle. Sirius pulled the cloak off of them, and dragged it behind him as he stepped off the grass and made his way slowly on to the pebbles getting closer to the water.

“Come on, Ginny. Let’s go for a swim,” he beckoned her closer to him again. She ran up beside him and gave him a nudge.

“You can’t just walk into the water, silly. We need to have a dock to jump off of.” She told him.

Sirius pulled his wand out of his pocket and conjured up a dock that went out into the lake where it was deep enough for them to dive in.

“Merlin, Sirius. You made it out of concrete!”

“I enjoy defying the laws of physics. Now take off your clothes,” he said as he took of his shirt. He smiled when he saw Ginny’s affronted expression. “We now have everything we need to go for a leisure swim.”

Ginny contemplated turning back instead of Sirius seeing her half naked. But since it was nighttime, and there was no one else around, she figured not too much harm could be done. “Fine! You do know you make it impossible to say no, don’t you?”

“Yeah, I do. But who was the one who made a brilliant concrete dock that could float on water? Me!” He was about to pull down his trousers down in triumph before Ginny started threatening him.

“You keep your knickers on Mr. Black,” she said sounding exactly like her mother. “And I am going to keep mine on! If I see one bit of… you know,” she blushed, “I will hex off all exposed parts.”

“Of course,” she could hear him smiling. “Minerva…”

Ginny left her clothes in a pile by the law-defying dock and made her way to the end. She waited for Sirius to come up beside her with her arms wrapped around her body. It was cold enough without the little swirls of fog twisting themselves around her. She heard Sirius’ footsteps, and started to giggle.

“The dragons on your knickers are breathing fire,” she said with her teeth chattering.

“And the lace on yours is not,” he said coming to stand in front of her. “You look quite cold my dear. Shall I warm you up?”

Ginny nodded her head as her body shivered. Sirius wrapped his arms around her and pulled her against his chest.

“Shit, Sirius. You are colder than I am, and now I have to make sure you don’t get hypothermia.” She wrapped her arms around him as well and started rubbing his back quickly so that he wouldn’t be so cold.

“Why are we doing all this rubbing in all the wrong places?” he said to her. He pulled back and cast a small warm charm, so that they were no longer covered in goose bumps. “I have to admit, I am feeling a lot less inclined to jump in now. I think I would rather kiss you, to tell you the truth.”

“Yes, I would like that much more than the water.” She said.

It wasn’t long until Sirius had her face in both of his hands and lowered his mouth to hers. Ginny thought it was even better than the short kiss they’d had before. Because of the cold, she could feel every part of herself that he touched. His hands fell from her face and started to skim over her hips and stomach, and even did little paths up her arms. Sirius made his way up to her face again and up into her hair. She felt a slight puff of air on her face from his nose when he realized her hair was in a ponytail.

Just when Sirius’ tongue was busy finding its way against hers, he started to pull lightly on the elastic that was holding her hair in place. It was clear that Sirius was becoming bothered because he started to pull harder on the elastic. Ginny was about to say something, but he pulled a little bit too hard. Ginny tried to take a step back, but there was nothing left to step back on. She grabbed a hold of Sirius right before falling into the freezing water.

“Ginny! What the hell were you thinking!?”

“What? You were the one trying to pull my hair out of my head! Lily told me you were supposed to be charming and alluring! I don’t know what drugs she was snorting that day!” Ginny yelled at Sirius as she kicked her legs violently to stay warm and afloat.

“Well, you hair must be some kind of beast to undo my charm!” Sirius yelled back. Both were silent for a moment, before bursting out into laughter.

“Oh, Ginny. I am sorry.” He said and swam over to her.

“It’s alright. At least the water got the elastic out of my hair.” She said lifting one hand to her hair. Sirius lifted one hand to her wet hair, and gently grabbed a fist full at the base of her neck.

He pulled her closer to him once again and they started kissing, even though they lost most feeling in their faces. Kissing that time was especially difficult, because not only were they trying to stay afloat, they also kept whacking each other while they kicked their legs out.

Ginny was the first to pull away, but didn’t let go of Sirius. “You did a shit warming job, Black. I am frozen.”

“I don’t think they are supposed to work in water. Let’s get out of this ice bath”

Both swam over to where they’d fallen over, and awkwardly climbed up. Sirius quickly reached for his wand and performed a much more powerful warming charm, and conjured a blanket as well.

Ginny was lying down close to Sirius, and giggled as he lay down beside her and draped both of them in the blanket.

“Shouldn’t we be going back?” Ginny asked. She looked over at Sirius who shook his head.

“I love sleeping under the stars. No one will know that we are out here.”

“How will we know when to get back? The last thing I want is for the throng of people going to Hogsmead seeing us in our knickers.”

“Don’t worry, we’ll see the owls.”

Ginny thought for a moment. Sirius was nice and cozy-warm, and she wasn’t too sure that she really wanted to go back. She was silent for a few moments, and sensing that she was hesitant, Sirius pulled her closer to him and made it so she had to put her head on his chest.

“You really do make it impossible to say no.”

“And you thought I wasn’t charming!” He laughed, and her head bounced slightly on his chest.

“Well, be charming and be quiet. I am tired.”

“Yes, my lady.” He said mockingly, but kissed her head to reassure her he was joking. “Sleepy time…”

Ginny was the first to wake up. She was very pleased that his warming charm was still working, acting like a small bubble of heat around them. Ginny got up onto her knees and pulled the blanket off of Sirius and put it across her shoulders.

Her knees hurt slightly from kneeling, but Sirius looked almost perfect in that moment. His eyes were closed, and he had an arm hanging off the dock and his hand would occasionally skim the cold water. The sky was a light pink, but was quickly turning into its usual winter white and blue.

“Sirius, wake up.” She poked him gently in the ribs.

“Prongs not now,” Sirius mumbled, trying to swat her hand away.

“Come on, time to get up,” she poked him again.

“What if Lily sees? Remus is right over there.” Ginny’s interest was peaked.

“But, Sirius!” Ginny said, lowering her voice an octave.

“Ugh, fine.” Sirius said, he grabbed Ginny’s wrist blindly and pulled her towards his mouth. “You could not sound any less like James, Ginny.” He pulled her a little closer and kissed her.

“Ha ha,” Ginny said awkwardly and pulled back. “We better be getting back.”

“I suppose that you are right,” he lifted himself up, and struggled a teeny bit as he got to his feet. “Merlin, I haven’t woken up that early on a Saturday since ever.” He held out his hand to help her to her feet.

Sirius pulled on an edge of the blanket, and managed to wrap some it around himself. “Oh no! Does this mean that I don’t get to see you in your knickers any more?”

“Maybe later, if you are a good boy.” Ginny said blushing. “Come on, I am hungry.”

* * *

The trip Ginny and Sirius took to Hogsmead was an odd experience for Ginny. Sirius asked her if she was going back home to stay with her family, and she was instantly reminded of how far away they were. Although she would have never thought it, Sirius Black was one of the most intuitive and attentive boys in Hogwarts, and rarely brought up her family when he realized she was reluctant to speak on the subject.

Aside from the awkward questions about each other’s families, their small date turned out to be quite a success. After their lunch Ginny and Lily shopped a little on their own, and left James and Sirius to their own devices. Both the girls bought the boys their Christmas gifts and all four of them met up and walked back to the castle.

Most of the student body had gone home for the holidays, and it seemed to suit the Marauders, who took off early in the morning and didn’t come back until late in the evening, looking exhausted and disheveled. Ginny and Lily would exchange glances, and didn’t even bother asking what the four boys had gotten up to.

It was on the day before Christmas Eve that Ginny and Sirius got a little bit of alone time. Ginny was sitting alone in the common room when long fingers covered her eyes and told her to guess who it was.

“I dunno, a particularly annoying prat by the name Sirius?” Ginny laughed as he walked around the couch and scowled at her.

“I say you and I go for a little walk,” Sirius said. Before Ginny even had a chance to point out how cold it was, Sirius had grabbed her hand, pulled her up and begun to lead her out of the common room.

Ginny protested, but he only pulled her harder, and picked up the pace. A few times he was kind enough to turn his head and smirk mischievously, but he never gave a hint as to where they were going. Sirius led her down several staircases and down into the dungeons. They were a few doors past the Potions classroom, when he opened a door, and pushed Ginny gently inside.

Sirius let go of her hand, and ‘lumos’-ed the room so that they could find their way around. Even with the bright light emitting from Sirius’ wand, the room was still dark, and cast tiny shadows in the corners. The room was big, but also very bare; the only thing remaining was a teacher’s desk. It was clearly a disregarded and forgotten room, and the Marauders had used it hundreds of times for their little schemes.

“What are we doing in here?” Ginny asked slowly, her eyebrows raised. “If it’s to snog Sirius, then you are one arrogant berk.” Ginny smiled, and Sirius only shrugged.

There was a small silence, and then Sirius came forward once again and pulled her towards him then turned around and pushed her back against the old desk. Ginny wanted to ask him what exactly it was he had planned, but his razor sharp smirk made her words shrivel up, and all she could do was stare at his mouth and wait.

Sirius put his wand on the table, right behind Ginny, and then put his arms on either side of her and grabbed the edge of the table.

“I may be an arrogant berk, but you aren’t going to tell me no, are you?” His face was only an inch away from hers, his breathing was slow and even on her face, but it made hers hard and shallow.

Ginny’s eyes flicked back and forth between his as she gulped audibly, and shook her head. Sirius’ smile widened and she held her breath as he closed the distance between them.

Ginny felt like she had been struck by lightning. His lips were pressed softly against hers, and even as he began to move them all she could think was that the world had ended and that time had stopped. Normally Sirius gave Ginny the warm and tingly feeling when he stood by her, but kissing him was so different and so monumental she never wanted to stop.

In the spirit of not letting the kiss finish, Ginny grabbed a hold of his shirt and pulled him closer to her. She could feel Sirius laugh as they kissed.

“Get up on the table,” Sirius rasped out, pulling away for a second. Ginny opened her eyes, and sighed as he half lifted her onto the table and wedged himself in between his legs. He kissed her again, but it wasn’t as slow and soft as it had been before, and Ginny agreed with his pace and followed suit.

His hands climbed up the base of her neck, and grabbed fistfuls of her thick, red hair, and she did the same and mirrored his actions. Ginny continued kissing him, and had almost forgotten to breathe, but she sucked in a whole lung full of as he moved away from her lips and started kissing his way down her neck.

She could feel his hands untangling out of her hair, and move their way to her front, and when she opened her eyes to slap them away she let out a little scream.

“What? What is it?” Sirius pulled back and looked to see if maybe he had bit her too hard. Ginny’s eyes just went very wide, and she pointed toward the door.

“Reg, what the hell are you doing here?” Sirius said angrily and got even angrier when he noticed the person beside his brother. “Snivellus, I knew you were fucked up, but I didn’t expect you to be such a voyeur.” Sirius calmed himself down instantly, and then helped Ginny down form the table.

“You aren’t very funny Black,” Snape said, and then scowled at Ginny, who was half behind Sirius, trying to tidy her hair. “And I wouldn’t want to watch you with a bint like that any day.”

“You shut up!” Ginny said, stepping out from behind Sirius.

“Jealousy does not become you, Snivy. You should know better than to insult lovely ladies,” Sirius leaned back against the table, and even though his hair stood up all over the place, and his shirt was wrinkled and half untucked, he still managed to look like he owned the universe.

After a moment of silence, Ginny remember just who ‘Snivellus’ was and let out a little laugh.

“Oh Merlin, you are Snape aren’t you?” She said, and looked at Sirius who nodded. He seemed to be enjoying the fact that Ginny was going to join him in the taunting.

Snape scowled, and for the first time Regulus spoke up. “What would mother do if she saw you?” Regulus looked only a couple years younger than Sirius, and although they looked almost the same, Ginny knew they could not have been anymore different.

“If I was lucky she would have seen us, and hopefully have died from a heart attack.”

“Is this what you do now, Black? Just come down to the dungeons and try and get girls off? How disgraceful.” Snape said, disregarding the small interaction between brothers.

“And what are you doing down here? Trying to shag his brother?” Ginny said, and laughed. “I think you are the disgraceful one.” Ginny laughed a little, as the two boys at the door looked at her, shocked. “I guess we will let you guys get to it, then.”

Ginny grabbed a hold of Sirius, and started to pull him out of the room. She paused a few feet from Snape, and looked at him. Ginny had told herself a million times that she was not allowed to alter the future, but she had convinced herself it was okay if she got a little bit of revenge.

She let go of Sirius’ hand, and continued to walk towards the door. She was just about to brush past the other boys, when she decided that slapping Snape would feel very rewarding.

“In a few years you will know exactly why I did that,” she said and finally left the dungeons with Sirius behind her, still unable to believe what she had just done.

“I can’t believe you just did that,” he said, as they made their way up the stairs.

“Oh, well, I am sorry for what I said about your brother, but I needed to shut Snape up,” she said blushing. She looked over at him and noticed he had a small smile playing on his lips.

“No, don’t worry,” Sirius said. “Regulus will live, but all this violence! I am just glad you not taking it out on me.”

“You don’t think he or Bellatrix will tell Dumbledore will you?” She bit her lip, and looked at him once again. Somehow he had managed to tidy his hair and right his shirt. Ginny took a small pause on the landing to do the same.

“Merlin, no. Neither of them would want it to get around that they were beaten up by a Gryffindor.”

Sirius started walking up the stairs again, but this time he grabbed her hand and held it. Ginny had to admit it made her heart beat a little faster, but she liked kissing him a whole lot more.

* * *

Time after that seemed to pass very quickly for Ginny, and she assumed it did for Sirius as well. However, Ginny did not spend all of her time with him. She spent a good deal of time with Lily, and had even managed to forget just who Lily was, and that she wouldn’t be spending the rest of her life with people she had come to know over the span of a few months.

Christmas was a very nice break from actual schoolwork, and contained many snogging sessions, although they were not interrupted as rudely as the first one. Ginny had come to look forward to them, and even as classes resumed, she took the same amount of comfort in having him sit beside her and whisper silly things in her ear.

Ginny didn’t really get a chance to spend time with the other Marauders, which seemed to suit them all. Remus was dating a Ravenclaw, so she rarely saw him, and when she did there was always an awkward silence because she never knew what to say. Remus would be kind and ask her if she needed help with school work; but all Ginny could do was shake her head and think that he was just as kind as a teenager as he was a professor.

Time was passing faster than ever, and Ginny couldn’t help but wish it would slow down; even she could tell that her time was running out. The snow had begun to melt away and the daylight was lasting longer.
