I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Yes, You Are Indeed Gorgeous
Author's Note: Ahahaha, sorry people, about the misunderstanding in the summary part where it says "Complete, better summary inside". Yes, dark_samira, it indeed does mean that the there was a summary that was complete and better, and not that the story was complete. Sorry people. I think I'll go change that. Yepp.
----Chapter 2: Yes, You Are Indeed Gorgeous----
Harry finally reached his dormitory after floating helplessly through a sea of gawking students, finally being pulled along by Ron and Hermione who acted as a crowd-breaker. Harry flopped down on a squishy chair in the Gryffindor common room and surveyed his surroundings.
The cozy round room that was the Gryffindor common room was decorated with red and gold, the colors of Gryffindor. On the wall hung various tapestries of lions; lions sleeping, lions stretching, lions attacking snakes, badgers, and eagles, lions roaring, and lions in all sorts of poses (which didn’t last long since pictures in the Wizarding World could move around). Harry sighed in contentment. No matter how much he enjoyed Grimmauld Place better than Private Drive with his relatives, the Dursleys, nothing could compare to the homely feeling he felt towards Hogwarts. He felt more attached to his school than anywhere else, and he looked forward to coming back to school every summer. Harry smiled to himself, thinking how odd he must be, to enjoy school so much, regardless of the piles of homework they get. But that’s what you get when your only other known ‘home’ is with a bunch of Muggles (non-magical people) that pretended you didn’t exist and were really nasty, spiteful, malicious, wicked...the list could go on and on! Harry clenched his teeth as he thought of the Dursleys, but then his thoughts settled on his new home now, Number twelve Grimmauld Place. Yes, that was heaven compared to the Dursleys.
Before his thoughts could wander any further, Ron poked him in his shoulder. “Harry, you do realize that everyone’s in the common room... and staring at you?”
Harry blinked as he scanned around the room. Everyone was indeed staring at him. If not just standing there staring at him openly, then pretending to do something while sneaking little peeks at Harry.
Harry groaned as he hoisted himself off the chair and stalked off to his room that he shared with Ron and three others. Harry turned around to face Ron who had followed him up.
“Well? Are you going to tell me now? Because, frankly, this attention is scaring me.” Ron laughed a bit and motioned for Harry to sit down in the middle of the floor. Harry did, but warily, glancing at Ron skeptically as if he was going to tell him the world’s largest secret. “Should I put up a Silencing Shield?”
Ron shook his head, “Nah, I think everyone knows this but you.” Harry frowned at this statement. “But you can conjure up a mirror if you want. A full body mirror.” Harry shrugged and obliged, waving his hand effortlessly and a long mirror appeared.
Ron smacked Harry on the back, exclaiming, “Wow, Harry, your wandless magic is getting better and better!” Harry smiled at the compliment and raised an eyebrow at mirror.
Ron paced around the room for a while, thinking how he should say this, then flung his hands up in the air, giving up, and dashed out of the room calling back, “I’m going to get Hermione. She’ll explain it better.” Harry sighed, how can telling him possibly be that hard?
A moment later, Hermione strolled in, accompanied by Ron. Hermione walked up to Harry and put her hands on her hips, staring him down. Harry cringed a bit. He didn’t like it when Hermione stared like that.
Finally, Hermione sighed and motioned for Harry to stand in front of the mirror. Harry did as he was told and looked at his reflection in the mirror. He stared at his hair. His unruly, untamable hair that stuck out everywhere. Turning his gaze away from himself, he looked at Hermione, “What is it?”
Hermione walked up to stand next to him, “Do you seriously not see it?”
Harry looked at himself again, “See what?” All he could see was his hair that resembled a bird’s nest as his uncle, Vernon Dursley, had informed him a million times. And his eyes which glittered way too brightly, as Dudley Dursley, his cousin, had said while trying to blind him. And... and... he didn’t want to think about how disorderly he looked. “No, I don’t see anything, Hermione.”
Hermione suddenly reached up and ran her hand through Harry’s hair. Harry quickly pulled away on instinct, “What was that for?”
“Everyone’s staring at you because you look gorgeous, Harry. You’re probably the best looking bloke in the school.”
Harry stared at Hermione.
“A-are you kidding me? Something that trivial? God, you two had me worked up, thinking I had Voldemort on the back of my head or something!” Harry huffed and continued with his ranting, “And besides, everyone’s now officially mental. Who in their right mind would think I am g-good-looking? That’s bullshit! I mean, look at my hair, for one! It looks like a mother pigeon could have laid her eggs on this sorry excuse for hair!” Harry tugged at his hair in disdain.
Hermione reached out and ran her hand through his hair again, receiving a growl in return. “Harry, your hair looks NICE. Seriously. It gives you a wild, um... aftersexlook.” Hermione finished hastily.
Harry stared at Hermione. Again.
“A-a-after s-.. s-sex look? Are you KIDDING me? You’re joking, right?” Harry looked bewildered, “And besides, even if my HAIR is uh.. wild looking... my eyes! They’re way too bright! Dudley always wanted to poke them out... Luckily I had glasses. And I’m always dressing in rags! And I’m scrawny, and and and...” Harry sputtered, very befuddled by now. “No way... that’s not possible...”
Hermione looked at Harry sadly. It was apparent that he had grown up in a bad environment. No doubt his relatives always made snide comments on how scraggly he looked before, and he’s probably had the thought that he was ugly beaten into his head by the endless put-downs that he spent sixteen years of his life in.
“Harry, truly, you look great. I’m sure you’re muscles are lean and toned, and regarding to your eyes, they’re the most marvelous shade of green ever, and the brightness of them just makes you even more charming! Although, you could do with a new change in wardrobes.” Hermione smiled at Harry, trying to make him realize how attractive he really was.
Harry waved her off, “I-I’m going to sleep now...”
Hermione heaved a sigh and left the room to go back to her own bed. Ron climbed onto his bed as Harry climbed into his too.
After a few minutes of silence, Harry asked Ron who was almost asleep, “Ron?”
“Mmm... yeah?” Ron yawned.
“Why couldn’t you tell me this?”
“Well, I didn’t want to sound, you know, gay.” Ron yawned again.
“...”
“Goodnight, Harry.”
“... Goodnight Ron.”
But Harry laid in his bed for a while, listening as his other roommates creeped into their beds and whispered a bit before quieting down to sleep. Harry heard his name a few times in their quick whispered conversation, and with a lurch of his stomach, realized they must be discussing Harry’s new... looks... if what Hermione said was true. Harry turned over on his side and slowly drifted off to sleep, still contemplating his new awareness.
