Awakenings
11:59 p.m. July 30, 1996
Harry Potter was sitting up in his bedroom waiting for the rush of owls that inevitably came on his birthday. The summer had been quiet, the Dursely's had pretty much left him to his own devices for fear of a recurrence of the Howler that Molly Weasely had sent when it was found out Harry had been beaten at the beginning of the summer.
His watch had just finished counting down to Midnight and he saw the owls coming in the distance, Hedwig leading the way when Harry's entire body began to cramp. He'd just passed out from the pain when Hedwig flew into the window.
Seeing the distress her master was in the snowy owls body stretched into a silver colored phoenix who disappeared in a plume of mist.

Albus Dumbledore was just sitting down to a cup of hot cocoa to prepare to wind down for the night when the Snow Phoenix he'd arranged for Harry to get as a child appeared in his office. In evident distress the bird tore around the room one time then landed on the table in front of him.
"Harry's coming into his Magical Inheritance isn't he?" Dumbledore asked the bird who trilled in the affirmative. He reached into a sealed cupboard in one of his shelves and handed a box and a freshly written note to the bird. "Please take this to Severus while I get to the child."

Severus Snape was sitting at one of his work-benches where he was working on his favorite project. When he had invented the Wolf's Bane potion he'd believed he had gotten the cure to Cursed Lycanthropy. Cursed Lycanthropes had no choice in their transformations and became nothing more than beasts during the change. There were Greater Lycanthropes who could change at will. There were other clans as well. Severus himself was a Were-Raven.
He'd just bottled his latest experiment when there was a plume of mist and a rare ice phoenix appeared.
Using the racial ability to speak with all birds Severus asked "How can I help you Little Sister?"
"The old one with the sparkled eyes asked me to bring this to you. He said it is important to you. I must go back to my charge." The bird misted out.
Looking at the note with the box he recognized Albus handwriting in his favorite Purple ink.

Severus,
I need you to re-assimilate some memories you asked me to hold for you. Once you have regained these you'll know what this is about. Please meet me in the infirmary as soon as you can.

By the time Albus had apperated to Privet drive and gained entry into the house, Lilith was half-way through her change. It appeared that the Were-Raven form had bred true as she had most of the signs from what he could tell.
Albus gathered all of Harry's belongings and shrunk them down to pocket size. then he carefully picked up the young girl and disappeared.
