The brink.

The phone was ringing, Draco groaned he hated that blasted thing. Harry insisted they have it because Hermione granger insisted it was faster then using owls. Muggles and their contraptions! He groaned to himself. Didn't the Weasley's have a fire place! Just because Granger had grown up using the blasted thing doesn't mean they had to have one of those shrill shrieking things interrupting the mood.

Harry woke with a start. Draco rolled them both over and pressed his lips to Harry's ear. "Ignore it, you don't hear anything." He murmured. Harry chuckled.

"It's tempting but that could be Lavender with Haley. Probably wondering why you haven't come to pick her up." At Harry's mention of their four year old daughter Draco sat bolt upright.

"Ah shit, thanks to you I completely forgot this was the day she spends with Emily." Draco scowled at him. Harry rolled his eyes.

"So sorry to ruin your perfect record as the domesticated man. Floo over there, I'll have dinner ready by the time your back, and Seamus and Dean will bring Jamie home." Harry glanced around them at the mess of cushions spilled honey and chocolate. "Dobby! could you do me a favor and clean this up. No reason to give Haley unneeded shock."

Draco chuckled, " You really planned this out, our kids out of the way and everything. We are lucky Lavender, or Seamus didn't bring one of them home, she probably would have been scared out of her mind." They both grinned at each other for a moment. Draco sighed loving this warm feeling his family always brought him. He stretched and answered the ever persistent harsh telephone.

"WHAT." He snapped into it.

"Well hello to you too Malfoy." Draco heard Lavender browns amusement over the phone. She was speaking into it a little loudly but was getting more and more used to using it.

"Oh hey Lav, how are things?" Draco asked. He stiffened a little Harry's fingers were dancing across his naked chest. He shivered and tossed him a warning glance. Harry just grinned cheekily at him.

"Well not that Neville and I don't love this little gal but she's getting grumpy. She wants her parents. Speaking of which how's Harry?"

About to die, Draco wanted to curse. His hand was wrapping around his cock and squeezing. He had been wrong when he thought his body had had enough. It was early rising to the occasion. He moaned a little.

"He's...fine... I'll be over...Give me five."

God that felt heavenly. Ordinarily he had more tact but at the present moment he could care less what Lavender thought.

"Draco are you OK? You sound..."

Draco dropped the telephone as Harry's lips swallowed his erection.

"Fuck" He cursed as he felt Harry's teeth scrap him. He fisted his hand in Harry's Hair and thrust into his warm seeking mouth.

It actually took him an hour before he floo'd into the Longbottom household. His cloths looked, well he looked like either he had been sleeping in his cloths or he had just hastily dressed after a heavy bought of sex. He blushed, He was ordinarily so calm and collected. Always perfectly dressed and presented.

Harry's fault. He could almost hear his laughter floating around in his head. He most definitely had ruined his image of the perfectly domesticated man.

"About time Malfoy, I was wondering If we were going to have to adopt her." he heard Lavender drawl as she entered the room. She eyed him up and down and a smile spread on her face. "Oh...so that explains the phone thing. You and Harry were a bit busy this afternoon I take it?" She teased.

Draco refused to blush. His cheeks felt hot because it was hot out! "Where are the kids?" he asked her looking around. Besides Emily Neville and Lavender had no other children except for the one currently growing in Lavenders belly. Neville appeared from a side door way and took the basket Lavender was carrying away from her.

"Lav you cant carry heavy things you know better!" He scolded worriedly. Lavender rolled her eyes.

"Here we go again, honestly Neville I wont break!" Lavender sighed, she let him take it anyway.

Draco fought back a smile, he remembered this. He honestly felt a little sorry for Neville, Harry had been terrible both times. Wanting to remain at work as long as possible. He had literally bounced off the walls until it was time, driving Draco insane with worry. Gryffindor!

The sound of high girlish voices drew all their attention. "PAPA!" the high pitched voice of an angel shrieked as she flew across the room.

Draco smiled the warmth in his chest spreading. With her blond pigtails and pale features she looked a lot like her father and grandmother. She had one feature from her father. Big brilliant green eyes blinked up at him in adoration. He caught her as she leapt into his arms and hugged her to him.

"How's my princess?" He asked her with a big grin on his face. He kissed her cheek enjoying the baby soft feel of her skin.

"Emily and I played Hogwarts. Emily says being in Slytherin is bad. That only bad people go there. I told her nuh-uh because you were in it and your not bad!" she replied in a stream of angry chatter. Draco glanced at little Emily Longbottom with amusement. With her caramel colored features and curly black waves she was cute as a button. And apparently as much as a Gryffindor as her parents.

"so I used a boogly worm hex on her and won the house cup." Haley chirped. Apparently both girls were satisfied because Haley kicked to be let down and ran back to Emily.

"don't forget were going to bake cookies at my house next week. My daddy can help us!" She gushed. Emily's chocolate colored eyes lit up and both girls hugged each other with child like squeals.

"lets go Papa, I got to go home and show Daddy the house cup I won!" Haley pleaded grabbing a hold of Draco's hand to drag him out the door. When Haley had first been born Draco had taught her to call him Papa. It just sounded more dignified then daddy. Harry however thought Papa was too stuffy and had relished the sound of some one calling him daddy.

The end result was this, He was papa and Harry was daddy. Draco rolled his eyes, Harry had to be obstinent about everything. Lavender and Neville chuckled.

"Hey Draco say hi to Dean and Seamus for me, are we still on for next Friday?" Neville asked as they headed for the fire place.

Draco nodded, every summer He and Harry took the kids up to his family cabin. It was more a country manor then a cabin, the Malfoys after all did everything in style. It was Harry's idea of a joke to call it a cabin. Because it was so big Dean, Seamus and their kids, the Weasley twins,Ginny and her family, Ron & Hermione and their kids and the longbottoms came up with them. It was a chance for old friends and teammates to see each other again.

Hermione and Ron lived in north Wales now where Hermione taught at a wizarding school. So the summer was their big time of get together.

"Yes, just like usual for a while Harry was worried about his work but we both managed it." Draco replied. He and Haley said their goodbyes and he measured out the right amount of floo powder for Haley. He grasped her hand and shouted. Number six pickley lane.
~~~~~***~~~Exactly 2 years later~~~~~***~~~~
Harry had just finished helping his five year old son Jamie into his booster seat and finished making dinner when Draco and Haley appeared out of the fire place. Jamie's eyes grew round and his lips broke into an excited smile.
"Papa" He Shouted jumping down from his booster seat. Harry sighed so much for that It had taken an hour to settle him down, the sight of his father had ruined all that hard earned work. Draco smiled at him smoothing the raven curls on his head. His blue eyes twinkled up at him with delight as he hugged his fathers leg.
"Took you a while, dinners done. Don't thank me by the way most of it was Dobby." Harry laughed. Haley now seven plopped into her own chair. Her cheeks were rosy and her hair now hung strait down her back having outgrown her pigtails.
"Dad, Pa wont let me sleep over at Emily's" Haley whined swinging her thin coltish legs mulishly back and forth. Harry glanced at Draco and sighed.
"And he's absolutely right, We are leaving for the summer cabin in two days tomorrows shopping day." Harry reminded her, then told her to wash up. He flicked his wand and the faucet turned on and the cleaning potion next to the sink zoomed into the little girls hand. She gigged, abandoning her pouty mood.
Draco leaned over and kissed the top of Jamie's curls. "How are you dragon?" He asked.
Jamie's favorite make belive game lately was nights and dragons. He was always the dragon and roped one of his parents into being the night who got roasted. Jamie grinned up at him, "I roasted four nights today!" He chirped still not letting go of his fathers leg. Harry chuckled as he watched Draco dragging him along as he walked up behind him to wrap his arms around his back.
As he listened to the splashing and giggling from his beautiful little girl and the chattering of his son he didn't know why anyone would ever feel like this wasn't enough.
It was paradise compared to the years of his past. He at least was perfectly happy being a domesticated man.
~~~~~***The next day**~~~~~

"Hurry up Haley honey Daddy's got to get home before his boss's owl arrives." He urged a grumpy Haley along the streets of Diagon alley. A day of shopping with the kids was always a bit of an adventure. Between the thousand of people stopping them every few seconds to gush over his kids. To beg for an autograph, a picture or just to shake his hand and gush.

On good days he found it amusing, but most the time he found it annoying and a little hypocritical. When they had found out that their hero was less then strait it had been met with scorn and censure. They had shunned him, especially once they learned Draco was his choice of partner.

However once He and Draco had defeated Voldemort and saved everybody it appeared that all was forgiven. They were suddenly everybody's favorite couple. He was late, both Haley and Jamie were tiered and not letting him forget it. He didn't have time for gushing looks and adoring fans.

"Potter, I have not forgotten" A voice whispered from just behind him.That was another thing although they accepted his relationship people couldn't seem to bring themselves to call him Malfoy.

"What?" He snapped less then graciously whipping around to face whoever it was. Harry shivered. There was no one there. He stared around but no the streets were crowded with people and any one of them could have whispered those chilling words.

He gripped Haley's hand a little tighter, and held Jamie a little closer.

As it turned our Harry didn't have time to read the letter from his supervisor until later that night. Between making dinner and packing trunks for their trip tomorrow, giving Jamie a bath and bed time stories he and Draco had their hands full.

When all of that was finally over he shut the bedroom door he and Draco shared with a weary sigh. Draco looked up from the letter he was penning to smile at him. Twenty eight and still the sexiest man alive, Harry didn't doubt he'd find Draco beautiful even when they were both old and toothless but his husband already had enough ego. He really didn't need to say so aloud. He said it anyway.

"Your bloody gorgeous you know that. Every time I look at you I want to shag you senseless." Harry said as he walked to the dresser. He picked up the letter from his supervisor and plopped down on the bed. Draco scooted backwards so that Harry could sit in his lap. Harry let his head rest on Draco's chest.

"Really Harry? I never would have guessed." Draco chuckled running one hand through Harry's hair. Harry closed his eyes basking in the playful warmth of his touch. He opened his eyes and reluctantly moved away from his touch.

"None of that, at least not yet I got to read this and send an owl back. If you start that then it will never happen." Harry swatted his hands away and began to open the post. His hands faltered as he felt Draco's lips on the back of his neck.

He shivered,"Draco are you listening to me." He demanded. Those lips moved down the arch of his neck and despite his protest when Draco's hands slipped under his shirt he moved into the touch.

"Don't I always Harry, I'm listening to your body and it's telling me you want me."" Draco whispered into his ear. Harry moaned as he felt Draco's tongue dart inside.

Harry let the letter drop to the floor. He turned in a quick movement and shoved Draco back onto the bed. He moved over to straddle him and smiled down at him. "Course I do, why else would I put up with you." He smirked.

Draco laughed and their lips met together in passion. The lovers moved in perfect symphony hearts full of each other and the life they had created together. One lone letter fell from the bed beneath the bed, its warning unread.
~~~~~***~~~***~~~***~~~**~~~**~~~**~~**~~
Remus Lupin head of the Auror office waited impatiently all night for Harry's owl. It never came by morning he knew that either something had already happened or Harry had never gotten the owl. Neither option was acceptable. Last night he had received a tip off from Narcissa Malfoy that her husband was not only alive but was planing to attack Harry. The owl had arrived at his home earlier that day. He stared down at the letter.
~Dear Remus
I have written to warn you of a grave circumstance. Last night I was contacted by someone I had long thought gone from my life and this world. Lucius is not as dead as we all would have hoped. His anger and bitterness towards Harry is as you can expect like a madness in his mind. He punished me for my part in the defeat of the dark lord that is why I am writing instead of warning you in person. I am currently in St. Mungo's but do not fear for me. The important thing is to warn Harry. He is mad, and will stop at nothing to break him.
Cissa.~
Remus crumpled the letter in anger. He had warned Harry in the owl expecting that if Lucius was going to strike it couldn't be this soon. Seeing as Harry had not replied to his post, he was afraid he had been desperately wrong.
He paced his office like a being possesed waiting for the team of Auror's he'd sent to Harry's home to return. He tensed as the door opened and his secutary Marry waltzed inside. "Well?" He asked tensely. Please be alright Harry.. Please...
"Good news sir, neighbors confirmed that the Malfoy family left their home peacefully this morning. They took a registered portkey to their summer place. We searched the home, found the owl you posted under the bed only partially opened. Seem's Harry got side tracked. No emergency as of yet. More good news is a man of Lucius Malfoys description was spotted in Diagon Alley this morning after Potter and his family had left."
Lupin sighed in relief. Which meant Lucius hadn't fallowed them. It was a safe bet that he didn't even know they had left yet. They still had time to warn him.
"I want teams all over this city, I want Malfoy Sr. found and apprehended. Cancel all current portkey registrations. Were going to find him!" Remus ordered clenching his fists.
"Sir you have a meeting with the minister about the two muggle deaths. You can't cancel." Marry reminded him. Dammit, Remus could feel a noose tightening around his neck. Still there was hope, as long as Lucius didn't know where Harry was he couldn't possibly harm him or his family.
~~~~~***~~~~

Lucius Malfoy cursed beneath his breath. According to the wizard he had "questioned" Potter and his son had taken their little brats on vacation. And the sniveling weasel had not allowed him a portkey. He was no longer alive to regret his choice.

At first he had been livid that Potter had spread his spawn on the world. Then an Idea had taken shape.

What better way to break a man then by the killing of his children. Potter would plead for death by the time he was through with him.

But first he had to find them! Their dotting grandmother would know. Lucius smiled to himself. He was glad now that he hadn't killed the bitch. Narcissa was going to tell him.
