Snape
:::::::::
Severus Snape was angrier than Harry Potter could ever remember seeing him in all the years they had been forced to endure each others company. Considering the fact that Severus had spent most of those years HATING Harry with an unholy passion, and searching for a reason to be angry with him, that was really saying something. Nevertheless, it was patently true.
Severus was now so enraged at the Gryffindor golden boy that spittle flew from his mouth and his hands spasmodically clenched as he spoke, as though it took every scrap of self control that he possessed to keep from flinging himself at the boy who lived and throttling him to within an inch of his undead life.
The reason for Severus near uncontrollable rage stood calmly just behind Harry. The potion masters precious godson, Draco Malfoy. The boy who Snape loved as dearly as he would have his own child. The boy who, he had just been informed, was now one of the walking undead, courtesy of one Harry fucking Potter.
“I should have known I couldn’t trust you Potter!” Snape roared.
“Godfather please…” Draco started.
“No!” Snape snapped, eyes wild with fury. “You’re just like your father Potter! Selfish and arrogant! You think you can do anything and get away with it!”
“Watch yourself Snape…” Harry said in a voice that was low and deadly. “My father may not have been what I always thought him to be, but he was still my father.”
“Godfather…” Draco pleaded, “please just hear us out.”
“I will never forgive you for this Potter.” Snape glared menacingly. “I never should have made the blood potion for you. We should have left you where we found you to starve and burst into flames come the rising sun. Draco deserved better than you! He deserved better than this!”
“Severus!” Draco shouted, “this was my choice!”
For a second Snape just gaped at his godson in disbelief. “Why would you?? No Draco….”
Draco nodded his head in the affirmative. “Yes Severus, it was my choice.”
After a moment Snape just bowed his head in defeat. Whatever Draco had become, he always had and always would love the boy like his own.
Draco’s eyes sparkled with tears as he beheld his proud godfathers sad countenance. He had always loved and admired the potions master equally as much as the man loved him. “Severus,” Draco said gently, “it was truly what I wanted…. And much good has come from it.”
Severus lifted his head, his eyes also misty as he regarded Draco. “What good could possibly come of you becoming a walking corpse, you foolish boy?”
Draco could stand to wait no longer. He had been bursting to tell Severus the news since it had happened. “Godfather,” he said with pride, “the Dark Lord is dead.”
Snape just stood there for a instant looking confused, then nearly staggered on his feet as the import of the words seemed to finally penetrate his consciousness.
Draco stepped closer to his godfather and grasped the mans slender hands, holding him steady. “Its true Severus,” he said resolutely, “Voldermort is no more.”
He pulled the dark mans trembling form into a close embrace. “You’re free Severus…” Draco murmured, “The whole wizarding world is free.”
Snape quickly recovered from an unusual bought of speechlessness to sputter, “Does Dumbledore know?”
Harry was the one to answer him. “No… we felt that there were more important things to take care of first.”
The professor gazed at Draco mystified, “M-more important?”
“Yes Godfather,” Draco said with a smile. “More important.”
“But..” Snape seemed truly perplexed now. “what could be more important?”
“Well…” Draco’s smile grew broader. “I thought my mother might like to know that she is now a widow.”
Snape’s eyes bulged. “Yes Severus…” Draco nodded, “mother is free now also.”
Draco released his Godfathers hands and barely managed to step out of the way before a sobbing Narcissa Malfoy flung herself straight into the arms of the man she had loved almost her whole life. Severus yelped in surprise then suddenly realized that he was now holding the one thing he had convinced himself would never be possible.
Together they sank to the floor with Narcissa pressing fervent kisses to his pale face as they both spoke words of love they had held back for years.
Harry and Draco stood back by the door watching the scene with smiles on their faces.
Harry picked up his invisibility cloak from the floor where Narcissa had abandoned it as soon as they had shared the news with Severus. He glanced over at his beaming lover and thought that Draco had never looked more beautiful than he did in that moment.
“Shall we go love?” Harry said as he took Draco’s hand. “After all the time they’ve had to wait I think they deserve a little time alone, don’t you?”
Draco sighed with happiness. “I suppose you’re right Harry.” He turned to follow his vampire lover out of the room. “So now what? Do we go tell Dumbledore?”
Harry looked thoughtful. “Maybe later… after all there will be plenty of time for that.”
“What then?” Draco cocked his head to the side inquisitively.
“Well, I was thinking…” Harry said with an evil smirk. “Perhaps it's time that I introduced you to the Dursley’s.”
