Chapter 1- The Burrow
Disclaimer: I own nothing...sighs and begins praying to shrine of JKR.
Harry woke with a start, throwing the covers off his sweat soaked body and grasping frantically for his glasses on the nightstand. He raised his wand, which he kept under his pillow.
“Lumos.”
He looked around the room. Everything was bathed in moonlight and totally as it should be. Ron was snoring and mumbling in his sleep, Pig was rustling in her cage and The Burrow itself seemed to sigh in contented slumber. He wiped his forehead and tried to calm his heavy breathing. Everything was as it should have been, not a thing out of place. What could have possibly woke me up at, he mumbled a quick “quis vicis”, ugh, midnight. Even though he couldn’t remember , he had a sneaking suspicion that it could have been his dream, which no matter how hard he tried, was being decidedly illusive, much to Harry’s irritation. Normally Harry could remember his dreams quite clearly but this one was all fuzzy around the edges and the only thing Harry could manage to gather from it was a lot of white; there had been gleaming, sharp white teeth and cold white skin and he thought maybe shiny white blond hair. It was frightening. The other person, or thing, in his dream was frightening, only, not really. It seemed frightening now, but it hadn’t been in the dream, the presence had felt oddly, comforting…
Harry took a deep breath and shuddered in the cool of the Weasley home, then lay back down.

The next morning Harry was roused with hazy laughter that was coming from the vicinity of a certain red heads bed. He sat up, rubbing his eyes and was jostled almost off the bed when a brown eyed Gryffindor and Ron’s giggling sister pounced on him. He laughed at the two girls innocent expressions as they said their good mornings.
“Hiya Harry!” Ginny still in her pajama’s and her hair tied back in a pony tail, her big smile reached from her right ear to her left.
“Good Morning Harry, we’ve only just woken Ron, Mrs. Weasley said if you both don’t hurry up and get downstairs you’ll miss breakfast.” Hermione was completely dressed and her hair was tamed by what Harry imagined to be 3 times as much sleek-ez tonic as anyone should use in a single day.
Hermione bounced off Harry’s bed and grabbed Ron by the arm dragging him out and calling for Harry and Ginny to hurry down. Ginny looked expectantly at Harry and he felt his heart tugging at him. He wanted to tell her, to explain to her but he couldn’t seem to find the words. He had kissed her at the beginning of the summer, before he left for the Dursley’s, it had been a mistake. He was upset by something Malfoy had said about Harry being ‘unlovable’ and a ‘death sentence’ to anyone he came in contact with. Draco meant Sirius and Cedric and Harry’s parents, it had hit home and Harry was enraged. He wanted to prove Malfoy wrong so he kissed Ginny (though he still wasn’t sure what that solved). She was only 15 at the time and Harry felt awful because he just didn’t like her like that. Now she was looking at him with so much hope in her eyes that it made Harry want to try, only he didn’t love her. He didn’t even like her like that. To be honest he wasn’t sure if he liked anyone like that.
“Ginny?”
“Yes Harry?” She smiled shyly. This was going to be hard.
“I have something to tell you.”
“Yes?”
“You’re-you’re not going to like it, and I’m sorry, ahead of time, you know.” She looked confused at his rambling and cocked her head to the side.
“Oh?”
“Right then, er, Ginny,” Harry gathered all his Gryffindor courage, “I didn’t mean to kiss you.”
“What are you talking about Harry?” She still looked confused.
“I mean… I-Idon’tlikeyoulikethat!” He said it in one big breath and a bit louder then necessary. Understanding crept onto her face and the slow burn of realization lit her eyes. First she looked sad, and then, she looked angry.
“You don’t have to yell HARRY!” She shrieked, “I heard you! And you know what, maybe I don’t like you either. First you kiss me because of Malfoy,” how did she know that? “Then you ignore me for a full week Harry, a WEEK! You’ve been here since the end of MAY and this is the only time we’ve been alone! It’s June 5th Harry! And now you tell me you didn’t mean it!” She stood up abruptly and turned to leave.
“Ginny wait, look, I said I was sorry. I was upset.” She turned slowly to face him.
“I know you were upset, I heard what he said.” Harry blushed with shame. “What were you trying to prove?”
“I don’t know.” He honestly didn’t.
“Well I hope making your ‘point’ was worth it.”
“Ginny please, I’m sorry.” He couldn’t bear to lose her as a friend.
“Harry, I can’t talk to you right now.” She looked defeated and it broke his heart. She turned and left him. With a huff Harry stood up. Today is going to be a long day.
Harry entered the kitchen and sat down, Ginny was no where to be seen but no one seemed to notice, no one except Hermione. Harry carefully ignored the pointed questioning look she gave him when he sat down. Mrs.Weasley started piling things onto his plate before he even got a chance to say good morning. Everyone was excitedly discussing the Quidditch game they were going to be seeing today, it was the Chudley Cannons (Ron’s favorite team) against Puddlmere United. Harry had been looking forward to this for weeks and now it seemed his day had a damper on it. He was broken from his thoughts by Ron.
“Oi, mate where’s Ginny?” He was about to say he wasn’t sure when she walked in.
“Right here, Ronald. You don’t have to keep tabs on me you know.” She smiled and ruffled his hair as she walked by and sat down next to Hermione. Harry could tell Hermione knew something wasn’t right.
The conversation that had been going on before Ginny’s entrance resumed now full force with Fred complaining that the new Chaser on Puddlmere was the worst player in the League. Ron was totally absorbed but Harry noticed the two girls speaking in hushed. Hermione glanced at Harry, but to his surprise, she didn’t look mad, only sad. As if she felt bad for him. He couldn’t make out why until she mouthed ‘Sorry,’ then he finally cottoned on. Ginny had told Hermione that SHE dumped Harry; even though they were never really going out to begin with. He couldn’t help but feel relieved. How was he supposed to explain to Hermione that he had kissed Ginny but he hadn’t really wanted to? How could he explain why he didn’t want a girlfriend? He couldn’t even imagine what Ron and Hermione’s faces would look like if he had ventured to tell them that he didn’t even like girls. He sighed in relief. Ginny really was a good girl, if he liked them, he might have even gone out with her.
****I Know Harry And Draco Haven't Seen Each Other Yet, But They Will. Promise, And Soon! BTW REVIEW. I'm just seeing if its up to snuff. So let me know, Yeah?
