Chapter 2: Invitation

AN: Please review. Pretty please?

What kind of obscene world did he live in, where fate threw him together with Miss Hermione Granger in such a situation, he'd only stopped to ask for bloody directions. Severus Snape glared at Hermione out of the window of the car, he observed her appearance with some interest, not that he would have shown any. All anyone knew about Hermione Granger now was that she was living as a muggle again somewhere in London. Noone seemed to know what had become of her since she had left school other than that. From what Severus could see she had been in decline since then, he was not a naiive man and he could tell exactly what she she was doing with her life these days by simply glancing at her, not to mention that she had not exactly been subtle with her offer of a 'date'. He fought the urge to shake his head in disgust and simply snarled at her.

"What, exactly, do you think you are doing Miss Granger?"

Her momentary embarrassment in having run into an old teacher was forgotten during that remark and she replied almost angrily "I would think that would be obvious, Professor. I'm sorry to have disturbed you." She began to walk away.

Snape shook his head and stopped her reluctantly, he still needed directions "Miss Granger. I appear to be...ill aware of my surroundings. Would you please explain to me how I would find the Fours Seasons hotel from here?"

Hermione frowned but walked back to the window and proceeded to explain directions, however there were rather a lot of them.

Snape glared at her "Do you honestly expect me to remember all that Miss Granger?"

She glared back "Not my problem."

He was slightly taken aback, she had always been so polite whilst she was at school, aparantly her time on the street had contributed to her growing up and becoming streetwise very quickly. He frowned and then handed her a fifty pound note. "Now it is your problem, get in"

Hermione looked over at Hallie who nodded and climbed into the passenger seat of the car. "Straight ahead"

They drove in silence for a while with Hermione giving directions occasionally. Finally they arrived at the hotel and got out of the car. "Well, here's where I leave" Hermione said "Thanks for the easy cash"

Snape nodded, he watched her walk away and suddenly he felt uncomfortable letting her walk the street for the rest of the night, let alone forever. "Miss Granger. Please accompany me into the hotel, there are some things I wish to discuss with you"

"Discussion will still cost you" she replied, hiding her surprise that Snape would want to spend any more time with her than was absolutely necessary.

He nodded "Fine" He turned and walked into the hotel, leaving Hermione to follow him. They crossed the entrance hall and boarded the elevator with people staring at them all the way. Hermione ignored them mostly, she was used to being stared at by strangers but she still felt slightly intimidated by the grandness of the hotel and the posh clothing of the people around her. Living as she did for a long time had left her with little memory of ever living any better than she did now.

They rode to the suite on the top floor and she waited for Snape to open the door, he unlocked it and she went in, seating herself on the edge of a sofa and looking at him expectantly. "Well?"

He stared at her thoughtfully "Well, now that you are here feel free to make yourself comfortable, I have work to do"

Hermione stood looking surprised "You can't tell me you want to discuss stuff and then just brush me off. I have a job to do, bills don't pay themselves"

He shook his head "If it is money you are concerned about then it is not an issue, I can pay you. You can spend the night here."

She sneered at him "You, couldn't afford it."

"How much would you usually charge?"

She shrugged "Five hundred"

"Done."

"Just like that?"

"Miss Granger, do not question your good fortune simply accept it"

She nodded, not argueing with him for the first time. He Sat down, picking up some papers off his desk on the way. She grinned to herself and walked over to him standing in front of his chair with her hands on her hips. "But you'll want something else, right?" She ran hers hands down his thighs and knelt in front of him.

He watched her as she licked her lips seductively and flipped her hair.

"Miss Granger I distinctly remember telling you I have work to do. If you do not mind I would like to get on with it. Make yourself comfortable but preferably away from me" He gave her his trademark smirk and she stood, obviously angry and embarrassed.

She scowled and stormed off into the bedroom, slamming the door. It was all he could do to stop himself from smiling.
