Chapter 1: Awaken
Author's note:
THis is my second time fixing this chapter. AFF keeps delting the changes I make to it and dropping huge portions of the story. I am only going to fix this one more time. If it still doesn't work and you want to read the fixed version email me and I can give you a copy of the fixed version of the story. Sorry for the inconvience.

Chapter One:
Somewhere several miles past London, a dark shape moved through the sky. It’s passage was silent , the only proof it was there was the wake of the wind as it passed and the brief shadow blocking out the light from the moon. The dark shape moved swiftly it’s course never changing, it would make it’s way through the cold, dark of the night. It had to. Home was ahead, and it was calling to him, calling him to a place that meant safety all the way down to his bones. The hours passed and finally , home was in sight. The forest was thick, and the only place with an opening large enough for him to land was near the banks of the lake. Slowing the beats of his wings the shaped moved in to land, back winging as it descended to the ground. For a long time the shape just lay there, breathing in deeply the cool night air. Home. He was home. Safe. He drifted off to sleep.

The darkness holding him down slowly began to evaporate and Harry began to wake. His limbs felt strange, his eyes heavy. Blinking seemed to take more concentration than it had before. **I must be really hurt…** Harry opened his eyes expecting to see nothing more than the dark jail of his room. Instead he was nearly shocked blind by the brilliance of stars shinning brightly in a sky that was slowly changing from a dark blue to the warmth of dawn. Harry dropped his head down, looking out at eye level. He almost felt as if … yes, this place was familiar…!! Recognition slowly formed in his brain and Harry took a step back, only to trip over his tail and fall. **Wait…tail? Since when do I have a tail? **
Sure enough, when Harry turned to look at his back there was a tail. Along with a long back , huge wings and scales. Bright, jewel like scales. **What…** Harry spun his head back and looked down into the lake. His reflection stared up at him from the still, murky water. The only problem was that he didn’t see himself but a large dragon. His large almond shaped yellow eyes widened and a crest of feather popped up from the back of his head in his startlement. **A dragon. Bloody hell, I’m a dragon. How can I be a bloody dragon?**
As Harry stared into the water he came to realize that he didn’t look like any of the dragon species that he had learned about in CoMC. First off he had a pair of functioning front legs, which in truth seemed more like hands as they had four fingers and one opposable thumb on each hand. Secondly, there was the color, he had never seen a dragon that was colored like he was. His main color seemed to be a shade of emerald green that was only slightly bright than his human eyes. A long black streak went from the base of his skull (starting just under the crest of feathers which were cobalt blue with a golden ‘eye’ shape much like a peacocks) all the way down his spine, his wings shaded from cobalt blue into a jade green and had metallic gold markings near the edges. The cobalt blue he noticed was also on the tops of his legs and chest, again following the shading pattern of his wings. More gold was sprinkled throughout his body. His neck was long and sinuous, his body was compact, with a deep chest to help support his wings and extra muscle. His legs were long and lean as was his tail. Overall, Harry realized that he was an absolutely beautiful dragon.
**You know, this kind of cool. Although I would love to know why I am suddenly a dragon and how I got to Hogworts.**
**Perhaps I can answer that, wingsib.**
Harry spun around, half falling in the lake, to face the voice that had come from the forest behind him. He could see nothing at first, but a passing cloud moved just enough to light up the area in the cover of the forest. Another dragon lounged just inside the cover of the forest. The dragon must have been like him as it had the same type of build even if it’s coloring was drastically different. It body was a beautiful shade a violet that held markings like his, save for the fact that they were in shades of sapphire blue, peacock green and crimson along with the metallic gold. **Bloody hell! Who are you?**
The other dragon chuckled. **Come, join me in the shade, away from prying eyes and we can talk.**
Harry didn't move. He wasn't about to come close to some strange dragon. Even if it could talk and seemed to be intelligent.
The dragon sighed. **Fine, I get that you don't trust me. I wouldn't trust me either if I was you. I mean it would be mad to considering that you have all kinds of crazy dark wizards after you. So why don't we make this easy.**
Harry looked at the other dragon warrily. He didn't like not understanding a situation and that on top of all the crazyness was starting to piss him off.
**Have you ever had any experince with legimency?** At Harry's nodd the other dragon continued. **There is a spell that our people can use, it is a lot like what we are using right now.**
**Right now?**
**We are speaking mind to mind right now, what I am suggesting we do so that you can see that I mean you no harm is to use a spell that would pull your mind into my own and allow me to guide you to the memories that you seek in order to trust me. You are capable of leaving my mind at any oppertunity, all you need to do is picture a doorway that opens into your body and then step through. Are you willing to do this?**
**Not much of a choice, is there.**
The other dragon smiled. **There is always a choice, however this is the quickest way of proving myself to you. You ready?**
Nodding Harry moved to join the other dragon as it cleared a space next to it for him.
**Before we begin I suppose I should introduce myself. I am Kerr’laria, it is draconic for dancing wind, but if you are wanting my human name that is Katie.**
**You're a girl!**
**Of course I am.**
**But...but...**
**Harry calm down. I am not offended and you shouldn't be surprised that you didn't know. It can be hard for anyone not used to seeing the signs to know what gender a dragon is.**
**Oh, okay.** Harry gave her a shaky smile. **I’m Harry. I don’t have a draconic name…**
**Of course not. You are still too young to have earned one.** Harry suddenly felt offended and Kerr’laria laughed. **Don’t look so mad. I only just got my name a few days ago.**
**You did?**
**Yes, now let us begin.**
All around them the forest was still and quiet. The only thing sturing was the magic growing around the two dragons. Anyone who came by at this npoint would see something truely amazing. Two adolesent dragons surronded by a calm forest were slowly beginning to breath at the same pace. Hearts slowing and changing tempo to beat as one as their eyes closed. While it only last for a couple of minutes, for Harry and Kerr'laria it seemed as if hours passed as they moved through the corridors of Kerr's mind. Memory after memory being brought up before Harry, showing him the depths of her soul.
When they came out HArry shook his head. What he had seen was a lot to take in. It would take to much time to brood over at the moment, he realized. He would have to think on it later. All he knew for now was that for once he wasn't the only person that got left in the dark about strange magical abilities that were suddenly going to pop up in a person. (Note: There used to be this huge sequence where Kerr and Harry wander through Kerr's mind. However it got erased by AFF on the update and I don't have a copy of it. Sorry.)
**I don't think I am doing so badly for my first time getting to be the one to greet a fledgling. That’s what we call those of us who have just gained their inheritance.**
**Inheritance? I don’t understand. How did you even know I would be here?**
The other dragon lifted her right hand to scratch just behind her crest. **The wizards call this an inheritance because it is a special type of magic passed down through blood, it is not something that they could teach you to do in the school.** She nodded towards the distant castle of Hogworts. **As to how I knew you were here, that’s fairly simple. I have been watching you for the last few days so I simply followed you after you flew away from your relatives house. They’re fine by the way, if you were worried.**
**Fine? The fire! But…how?**
**I summoned them from the house before I left to follow you. I didn’t think you would want them to die even though they had tortured you.**
**Thank you.**
**No prob! Now we still have time before you are supposed to start school, so I am going to teach you what you need to know about what we are and what we can do.**
Standing Kerr’laria gave herself a little shake, dislodging some stray leaves that had fallen on her before she turned and headed deeper into the forest. **Well, are you coming or not?**
Harry nodded and hurried after her, trying not to make a fool of himself and trip over his new limbs.
