Chapter 2

“Moony?”

“What?”

“What’s up, mate? You look like you’re in another universe or something.” James said to him from his bed with an immense smirk on his face. “...That homework for Astronomy getting to you?” He joked.

James and Remus were the only ones in the dormitory that remained awake that night. Sirius and Peter were fast asleep, their hangings drawn shut.

Remus, who had been staring plainly at a wall in the seventh year boys’ common room, was in thought of none other than Severus from that morning. He chuckled.

“Sorry, just... thinking.” He said to his friend truthfully.

James shrugged, and went back to writing in a tiny leather bound book he was keeping propped up against his knees. He had been writing in this journal for a few months now and was writing another entry on a fresh page, his wand held alit in his left hand while his right scribbled away.

“What’re you writing about tonight?” Remus asked him curiously.

“Take a guess.” James told him, looking up at him from over the top of the journal.

“Lily?”

“Righto.” The boy who was still writing madly told him, his eyebrows raising for a brief moment. “I reckon I’ll ask her to Hogsmeade tommorrow.”

“How many times have you taken her there?” Remus asked, rolling his eyes with a grin.

“Only... about five.” James said, frowning at the realization. Seeing Remus’s look of ‘that’s pathetic,’ he grumbled loudly. “Well you tell me what else there is to do around here then if you’re so smart.”

“Take her to a field outside of Hogsmeade. There’s one beyond the gate with a nice view of a mountain. Picnic with her, lie down together in the tall grass, watch cloud shapes go by...” He said, throwing out all of these things.

James stared. “You know Moony, how is it that you’ve never had a girl? They’d fawn over you.” He lowered his voice to a whisper, “You could get some major arse with that mind of yours.”

‘I never had a girl because now I have my Severus...’ Remus thought inside of his head. He beamed at this thought and his boldness to think such a response in his head.

“I don’t know.” He told James, curling up in his sheets to stare up at the curtains atop his bed. He had placed a poster of Hogwarts castle there, and he stared up at it fondly as his eyes lazily began to close. It was a beautiful view of the school; he wished he could see it from where the photographer had stood... but even better, seeing it while in complete comfort in the arms of...

Severus rested his head atop his pillow. He felt strange. Had this morning all been a dream? It couldn’t have been... if it was a dream then why during Potions that morning after he came back from the grounds could he still taste his love on his lips? Remus was so incredibly luscious he had found out that morning. He felt his hormones getting the better of him. He told himself to refrain from being such a male and instead he dwelled on thoughts of his Remus lying there beneath his cozy sheets with him... He sighed dreamily. Oh how he loved Remus–wait, no, it was much too early to say that. What possessed him to just utter that in his mind? He growled lightly and cuddled with his pillow, imagining it was Remus. He caressed it with his hands, running them down the length of it. He thrust his hips into it playfully and then immediately afterwards realized what he had just done. ‘Stop it.’ He told himself, ‘As much as you now want to, you can’t be like that... but, yet... no one makes me feel the way he does.’

Severus shut his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

The next morning Remus woke up, yawning. He pulled back his hangings, wondering who had shut them as he remembered he had forgotten to. ‘Must have been James, he was the only one awake anyway.’ He thought. He sat up, rubbing his eyes and noticed a letter on his lap. His heart leapt. ‘Oh gods... could it be from...?’

Remus picked the letter up and stared at the handwriting on the front. It said simply ‘To Remus Lupin’ in a neat scrawl.

He turned the letter over and ripped through the seal quickly with his index finger.
“Ow!” He cried quickly. He glanced down at the side of his finger and saw a drop of blood oozing from a fresh paper cut. He stuck the finger in his mouth and sucked on it to ease the pain, then pulled the letter out with his opposite hand.

Remus,
Meet me at Hogsmeade today behind the post office. I want to show you something.

He noticed there was no signature, but he recognized the handwriting from seeing it many times in classes he had with Severus. The boy had disguised the handwriting on the envelope–it looked nothing like this handwriting.

“My clever Severus.” He mumbled fondly, placing the letter back in the envelope and tugging open his hangings.

“Hiya, Moony!” Somebody yelled. As the person had said this, there was a chorus of sudden “RAHHH’s” that had issued from two other people at the same time. Remus had jumped, frightened and wide-eyed.

His roommates all started laughing loudly.

“Oh man... that was priceless!” Sirius hollered, now holding onto the post at the foot of Remus’s bed to support himself as he laughed madly.

Remus gave a feeble grin.

“So... who’s the letter from, eh?” James asked eagerly, eyeing the envelope. “An owl was at your window this morning with it, I was the one who put it on your bed.”

“M-My... my mum.” Remus said, relieved that he had managed to save himself.

“Aww... thought it’d be from Emmeline... I swear she’s been eyeing you lately in Herbology.”

“Really?” Remus said, acting curious. He chuckled. ‘Emmeline Vance? No match to the man I’ve got.’

After hanging out with his friends outside he headed toward the front hall along with the other eager students to await the trip the Hogsmeade village.

“Remus, is it okay if you–er–just hung out with Peter this trip?” Sirius asked, “I have a... well, I have a date... with that Ravenclaw fifth year I was telling you about.”

Remus nodded, “Sure, no problem.” He had wondered about how he was going to ditch them during the trip to meet up with Severus anyways. Now he only had one person to worry about–Peter.

When they got to the village James and Lily said their goodbyes and went off, as well as Sirius who was hand in hand with the girl he had told Remus about.

“So... where d’you want to go Remus?” Peter asked, eyeing him anxiously.

Remus shrugged curtly at him, holding in his internal annoyance. ‘How the hell am I gonna get this kid off my back today?’

“Do you want to...go to the Three Broomsticks while I go to the store... the–er–the one that sells school supplies.”

“Dervish and Banges?”

“Yeah that’s the one... I’ll meet up with you later.”

“--Actually, I need supplies too.” Peter told him.

‘Bloody hell!’ Remus thought, an angry shiver running down his back. He was going to be late to meet Severus now...

“L-Listen...” He said desperately to Peter, “I have a date. With a girl. Didn’t want James and Sirius to know... or you. Didn’t want you guys to rag on me for it.”

Peters eyes widened in understanding “Ohhhh... Don’t worry Remus, your secret’s safe with me.”

“Thanks... if Sirius or James asks, I was with you the whole time and we were in Zonkos or something. I-I’ll do your homework tonight...”

“Okay.” Peter said brightly as Remus began walking away.

“Thanks!” Remus shouted behind him as he broke into a run. He made his way towards the post office, stopping and having a look around. Everyone was much too busy having a good time to notice a seventeen-year-old boy sneaking around the back of a building.

He made his way towards the spot where the letter had told him to go and found his Severus there, his eyes closed, leaning up against the building with his head rested against the cool stone wall of it.

“Severus?” He called, approaching slowly.

Severus’s eyes flinched at the sound of his name and he picked his head up off of the wall, grinning broadly. He took his body off of the building and took a few strides forward, planting his lips on Remus’s as a greeting.

Remus was taken aback by Severus’s sudden passion, but he enjoyed it nonetheless.

“I was worried you hadn’t gotten my letter.” Severus said as he pulled away.

“Oh, I’m sorry... no I got it... I just needed to get rid of the friends is all.” Remus told him, grasping the arms of Severus’s robes.

“Oh yes... Potter and Black.” Snape said knowingly, nodding his head.

“Actually they have dates... as do I.” Remus chuckled.

Severus’s expression dropped, “You didn’t–tell them?”

Remus shook his head, “No... They think I’m hanging out with Peter. And Peter thinks I’m on a date with a girl.”

“Oh okay.” Severus breathed. “Nice lie.”

“Thanks. And might I add that the print on the envelope was ingenious too.”

Severus blushed.

“--I don’t think they’re ready to hear about us yet.” Remus added.

“Right...” Severus said, letting his grip on Remus’s shoulders ease up a bit. “Not yet...”

Remus frowned a bit, “But I will tell them when I think they are ready to handle it.”

“They’ll never be ready.”

Remus agreed, “You may be right... but they’re my friends.” He paused, trying to come up with the right words to what he was going to say next. “And I really... like you. A lot.”

Oh, tell me why do we build castles in the sky?

Severus sighed unconscientiously. ‘Like’ he thought almost sadly. He took Remus in his arms and enjoyed his presence once more, running a hand up and down his arm. He frowned. Why had he allowed himself to get to this point with Remus in his feelings? To where he knew he shouldn’t be yet...

Remus sensed something was wrong by the way Severus had just reacted. ‘Was it something I said?’ Then something jumped into place. He had just said that he liked Severus... it had something to do with that, he knew it. ‘Oh no!’ He thought, ‘He must have taken ‘like’ the wrong way...’

Severus was still frowning, unbeknownst to Remus as they were hugging and he was staring off beyond his shoulder. He didn’t understand why what Remus had just said had stung him so badly. He was being completely illogical. ‘Who in their right mind would say “love” now? It would be way too soon.’

“Severus?” Remus said calmly, his mouth a mere inch from his love’s ear.

Snape made a dismal noise to answer him, still frowning from behind Remus’s shoulder.

“Do you love me?” Remus whispered, so close his lips actually touched Severus’s ear as he spoke.

This sent an intoxicating sensation throughout the whole of Severus’s scrawny figure, the way his soft lips and breath of air to form those words had just touched him... he became engulfed in it... and he gasped, “I do.”

Remus pulled away from the tight hug and went in and laid a tender kiss on his lover’s lips. He kissed him so slowly... it was a tease to the dark-haired boy, who pressed his lips up against his more firmly.

Remus gave a brief nibble on Severus’s bottom lip... telling him to stop. Severus’s lip trembled with need, but he obeyed and backed off. Remus kissed him again... slower still, but deeper than the last... and it was driving Severus crazy. He could taste him again... that delicious taste...

“Oh gods...” Severus moaned as Remus pulled away. “Please... don’t stop.”

“Tell me what you want me to hear.” Remus whispered seductively.

“I love you.”

“I love you too, my Severus.” Remus said to him, wrapping his arms around his neck. “I love you too.” He repeated, kissing him once more.

Severus had never felt such passion... Remus seemed to be consuming him in just a kiss... his heart, his soul. He could not stand it anymore.

Remus felt himself being spun around and then violently thrown up against the wall as he felt a tongue being plunged down his throat. He whimpered into Severus’s mouth, squeezing the back of his boy’s robes. A moan escaped his throat as he felt Severus wriggling around in his mouth, exploring lustfully.

Severus wanted to go further... but he knew he should save it. For now, this was enough. He was kissing the man he loved... and the man who was being kissed loved him back.
