She had been thinking about it all week. His words rang in her mind daily. They of course continued along like nothing had happened. Well, not exactly nothing, but neither made a big deal bout it. She was heading back to her room after dinner to gather her things for her study session with Ron and Harry.

When she opened the door of her common room she found Draco lounging on the couch reading a book. She spared him a courtesy glance before rushing off to get her books. On her way back through Draco stopped her with a sentence.

“Studying this evening with Harry and Ron?” Draco asked.

“Umm, yes. We have to go over some of the Transfiguration homework. It wouldn’t hurt to get started on the Herbology essay as well. I better get going I don’t want to keep them waiting. Will you be up when I get back?”

“I might be up. How late are you going to be? We wouldn’t want you to turn into a pumpkin.”

Though Hermione was only slightly taken back by the muggle reference she did giggle. “I don’t think you have to worry about having some smelly pumpkin hanging around your common room.”

“I like the smell of pumpkins, and the taste.” Draco winked at her, picked up his book and began to read again.

Hermione’s head was spinning as she entered her old common room. Draco had been flirting with her since they starting living together over the summer. Since her outburst the week before she wasn’t sure how to take it.

Once inside her old common room she found her favorite chair and started unloading her school things. Harry and Ron had their things spread out on the table in front of the fire already. Hermione thought that was a good sign. She settled herself across from them and began working on her transfiguration essay.

At nine o’clock, two hours into studying, they decided to take a break. They would begin working on the essay for Snape’s class next. As they stretched Ron leaned over to Harry and asked, “What do you think of Luna Harry?”

“Could be worse, she really seems to have filled out over the summer. She is nice enough if you don’t mind a little weird.”

“Yeah, she has filled out in all the right places hasn’t she?” Hermione was floored. They were sitting directly across from her and still they were too thick to realize she was a woman.

“You really shouldn’t objectify women like that Ronald.” Hermione spoke curtly as she packed up her things.

“Hermione, where are you going? We are supposed to be studying.” Harry asked.

“Studying Luna Lovegood’s anatomy was not what I had in mind boys.” She put the last book in her bag and turned to leave.

“It’s not like we were talking about you Hermione. Why are you so angry?” Ron questioned defensively.

“Ron you wouldn’t talk about me like that if I strolled through the common room naked as a jay bird. To both of you I am just some sexless brain.” Her temper started to rise along with the color in her cheeks. “Just because I am your friend doesn’t mean you couldn’t pay me the occasional compliment. I am sure you could fit one in while you’re drooling over the rest of the female student body.”

“We know you’re a girl, the skirt makes that fact hard to miss.” Harry stated a bit cheeky.

“Don’t you give me cheek Harry Potter. When you two boys stop thinking with your dicks and grow up I think about coming back to the study sessions.” Hermione made sure to slam the portrait on her way out.

She leaned up against said portrait to let her system level out. She was almost under control until she heard Ron’s unmistakable voice. “Did you ever see her as a girl? I mean other then the obvious.”

“I never really thought about it. I mean it was hard to miss when she hit puberty, other then that she has just always been Hermione.” Harry replied.

That was the final nail in her coffin. She would be the crazy cat lady all the school children made fun of. She couldn’t remember exactly when she started off to her own common room. Her feet were soon confronted with an obstacle; she whispered the password to the fairy in the frame. When she stepped inside she dropped her bag right where she stood.

Wandering halfheartedly to the sofa she sat down next to Draco. In fact she almost sat on Draco; she laid back and closed her eyes. Draco looked over then continued to read his book. It wasn’t until he heard her breath hitch that he put his book down. Her cheeks were once again tear-stained.

“Princess, that’s twice they have sent you back to me crying. It’s getting a bit old don’t you think?”

“I am going to be the crazy lady with the cats.”

“Oh no, we decided the beast that currently lives here because you already had him, we agreed no more…”

“Not now Draco, when I am old. Old and decrepit and still a virgin, that’s when I’ll be the crazy cat lady.”

“So, we are back on this kick again are we? Should I leave you to a private pity party? Or would you like to talk about it?”

“There is nothing to talk about. Harry was right when he said people may have noticed back in third or forth year that I was a girl, but after the shock wore off I’m sure I just went back to being the brain.”

“Princess what is your obsession with getting laid?”

“I don’t think I ever will get laid, as you so crudely out it. Having it rubbed in your face by your two best friends makes it worse. I know they don’t do it to hurt me, I doubt they even know they do it. They can’t help that they are stupid.”

“So you’re telling me you want to sleep with someone to do it. Not because you want to give him the most precious thing a girl can give a boy. Not because you care for him and him for you, but because you’re tired of having it lying around?” Draco sounded slightly agitated as he said it.

“Well, that not the only reason. And, it’s not a gift; it’s a piece of tissue, that’s all. I don’t know when you became such a romantic.”

“Let’s do it then.” Draco shifted and put his arms on either side of her head. He leaned in like he was going to kiss her.

“DRACO! We can’t, I’m not your type and what if it changed our whole friendship. It took us almost seven years to get this far. What would happen then?”

“You said yourself Princess; it’s just sex, not marriage. All I am going to do is relieve you of that bothersome piece of tissue.” Draco was nibbling on her earlobe. He had moved his hands from her head to her hips. “It’s not like giving me your virginity would be giving me a place of honor in your heart. You wouldn’t always think back to that first night and think of me. You wouldn’t compare every other lover to me because I was your first.”

“Draco,” Hermione was whispering she couldn’t seem to find her voice. His thumbs were drawing tiny circles on her hips and it felt fantastic. “I think your right.”

“What was I right about Princess?”

“I would always think of you.”

Draco wasn’t sure if that was such a bad thing. He had always had a thing for Hermione. It was the forbidden fruit. Everything he wasn’t supposed to want, and of course she had slapped him once. “Princess, at the present moment I would like nothing better then to bury myself deep inside you. You need to think about this. Because you’re right it will change our friendship, I am prepared for that, your not. When you are you will have to come to me.”

Draco got up adjusted his pants and headed to his bedroom. He turned to her at his door. Her head was still tilted back on the back of the sofa. She seemed to still be absorbing his words. “Princess,” she turned to look at him, “this is the second time in one week you have lead me to a cold shower. Think about that when you are worried if people know you’re a girl.” This time he did stay to watch her blush.
