Clue 1.

The next day Harry was up at dawn. He couldn’t really tell why he thought that his mystery game master would already have sent the next letter but he just knew he had. Another thing that struck Harry as weird was that he immediately thought that the person sending him the letters was male.
Harry peered around the room hoping to find the first clue without waking the others up. Finally deciding that the clue wasn’t in the dorm he silently dressed and slipped into the common room.
The boy-who-lived nearly shouted for joy when he saw a small neatly folded piece of parchment lying innocently on a chair. Quickly grabbing it he saw the trade mark snake before tearing the clue open.

‘Harry

If you’re reading this then you have chosen to play my game.

If that is the case then here is the first clue:

You see us but don’t see us even though we’re in plain view
We while away the hours
As our sand keeps count for you.’

Harry stared at the note. How the hell was he supposed to figure that out? Sighing he read the last little bit of the note.

‘Don’t give up if you think it’s hard for after every clue you come closer to the side of the moon.’

Harry fell into a chair. He guessed he could always ask Hermione for help. He shook his head as soon as that thought crossed his mind. There were many reasons as to why he shouldn’t ask her to help. One was that she was always busy with Ron and then he would have to ask Ron as well. The other main reason was that he knew that she would not approve of him continuing the game.
So getting comfortable he set his mind to the clue.
‘You see us but don’t see us even though we’re in plain view.’
Alright well that had to mean that he passed them every day but didn’t think about it. Merlin that could be anything! Ok next part.
‘We while away the hours.’
What the fuck was that supposed to mean? Okay take a deep breath and try to think this out. So it’s something in plain view that you don’t notice and it does what? Sighing Harry moved on to the last part of the clue.
‘As our sand keeps count for you.’
Harry read that again as he scratched the back of his head. Sand and count. Those seemed to be important but why?
Then it hit him like a ton of bricks. The house point hour glasses!
Jumping up Harry rushed out of the common room.
“Where are you off to so early?” The fat lady asked as he sprinted down the hall. But he was too far gone to hear her or reply.
As Harry decended the stairs he congratulated himself with a job well done but then it got him thinking. What if he had figured the clue out too quickly and the next note wasn’t there?
