Chapter two

Walking through Diagon Alley would never be the same, and they knew that. They needed supplies, food and most importantly wands. Alivander might not have been in his shop, but his wands were. Harry Ron and Draco entered the busted up shop in hopes of finding new wands.

In Harry’s last year at Hogwarts, Alivander showed him a hidden, chamber if you will, in the back of his shop, where he kept his most powerful wands. He’d warned him about the war.

“If you ever find yourself without a wand, be sure to come here. Now you know about this room, I put my full faith in you to keep it a secret. In this room, I keep my most powerful wands, wands that no seventh year should touch. But in your case, you may be the last thing to give the Wizarding world hope, Mr. Potter.” Alivander explained, leading him back out of the room.

“You can trust me sir. I’ll do my best.” Harry replied, shaking Alivander’s hand and leaving the shop.

“This way.” Harry said, leading them to the hidden room.

It was the same as the shop. Only this room had two walls, with seven wand boxes lain dusted and dirtied on the shelves. Harry took down four boxes; funnily enough they were sat separate from the others. He handed on to Ron and one to Draco.

“Should we test them here?” Ron asked.

“Simple charms and jinxes. No unforgivables – I mean it Malfoy.” Harry said, turning to a vase with browned flowers in it.

“Avis!” Draco said sternly.

Suddenly, a flock of black doves with ruby-red eyes flew out of the tip of his wand and spat little fireballs at the vase. Draco raised his eyebrows.

“Doves?’ Ron snorted.

“Dragon Doves, actually. These wands are for dark arts.” Draco said, examining it.

“Diffindio!” Ron said, aiming for the vase, which instantly split into two.

“Reparo!” Harry said, putting the smashed vase back together.

“Evanesco!” Harry added, making the vase…disappear.

“Okay, these wands will do. Hermione will – where is Hermione?” Ron stated, looking around.

.:0:.

“Ron! Harry! Draco! where are you guys!” she called, her voice echoing through the broke down alley.

She draped her arms around her body, suddenly feeling overly cold. She could see her breath forming little clouds in front of her eyes. She picked up her pace and called out once more. Hearing no answer again she panicked, causing her to run and hide in Quidditch Supplies.

She almost dived under the counter out of fear for her life. She brought her knees up to her chest and squeezed them against her body tightly. Before burying her face in her robes, she could hear voices.

Thank Merlin they found me! She thought, desperate to cling to her friends once more. She jumped up from behind the counter, but came face to face with Lord Voldemort himself. She screamed in absolute horror as he turned to see her pale face, deaden with her unwanted unconsciousness.

.:0:.

A loud scream echoed through the shop as the boys gathered their cloaks from the front counter.

“That sounded like Hermione…” Ron said shakily.

They sprinted out of the shop and down Diagon Alley. Three shadowy forms, were silhouetted in the dense fog, moving closer and closer to Harry, Rona nd Draco.

“Ah, Mr. Potter. How nice of you to visit my lovely new and improved Diagon Alley!” hissed Voldemort in a raspy voice.

“Voldemort.” Harry said dangerously.

“You know Harry, we never got time to talk. You know, about things. About how you should have died last year. It’s sad, I know but I’m too busy. I’m wondering if you know this girl I know. She yay tall, brown curly hair…smells like a mudblood?” he replied calmly.

“What did you do to her!” Draco demanded.

“Well, well. Looks like your son isn’t quite the little Malfoy you thought he was Lucius.” Voldemort said slowly.

From beside Voldemort, stepped Lucius Malfoy, “You’ve done wrong by me Draco. I am very, very disappointed in you.” Was all he said.

Draco stared at his father. Draco blinked repeatedly. Did he just…did he just wink? Thought Draco

“Sentiment words…we must be going now. See you…soon.” Voldemort said, as they apparated out of Diagon Alley with a scream from a very familiar voice.

“They took Hermione!” Ron yelled.

“No they didn’t! Run!” Hermione screamed, running towards the boys.

They looked behind her to find an overgrown (in their opinion) Manticore, leaping after her. Draco held up his wand and yelled “Avis!” and once again, a flock of dragon doves, swooped down on the Manticore, lighting it on fire. The beast ran around in circles, trying to put the flames out but failed with a loud screech.

Hermione turned around and put her hands on her knees, “That thing…so cute…so deadly…” she panted.

“Here.” Harry said, passing her the spare box.

“Wands?” she asked softly, opening the box.

She pulled it out and turned to Ron, “Langlock!’ she said, aiming at his face.

His tongue became stuck to the roof of his mouth instantly. They three laughed but Hermione released it and put it in her belt.

“What did you do that for?” he asked.

“Dunno.’ She replied, pulling out a sheet of parchment; Ron winced.

“What’s that?” Draco asked curiously.

“Shopping list of course.” She said smiling.
