Meanwhile at Malfoy Manor

Disclaimer: Obviously I don’t own Harry Potter or any of Rowling’s other fabulous characters. Only the plot and Lena belong to me.

I've changed a couple of things in this chapter as well so that the story isn't so chopped up. Please R and R!

While Harry was ruminating over the summer and its circumstances, something very similar was occurring within the cavernous walls of the Malfoy Manor. As Harry was thinking about what was being kept hidden from him, two other teenagers were thinking about how it was all happening in their backyard, sometimes literally.

Draco Malfoy attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry while his sister, Lena, went to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Neither of their schools knew about the other student, which was exactly how their father had wanted it. Lucius figured that if one school became dangerous for his child, the other would still get a good education.

Ever since Dumbledore’s murder, Draco was forced to remain on the grounds at all times and often go into hiding during Ministry searches. Lucius was dangerously unstable and had been since escaping Azkaban. His new favorite companion was any type of liquor and he was prone to extremely violent outbursts. Not wanting to think about what was happening at home, Narcissa was constantly out and about, trying to repair her damaged reputation. Because of this, Draco had no one to comfort him and keep him company except his sister. The two siblings had become close and were now each others confidante and best friend.

At the same time that Harry heard his Aunt’s screams Lena and Draco were curled up on her bed discussing anything and everything.

“Do you think he’ll win this time?” Lena whispered, looking up to see her brother’s reaction.

“Who?” He responded, meeting her gaze.

“Voldemort. Do you think Voldemort will win this time?” Lena laid her head on his chest, waiting for an answer.

Draco hesitated before answering, “Well…all I can say is that I hope not. I hope Potter kicks his arse and just ends all of this. I wish the Ministry would finally lock up Father for good. I dream that all this will be over tomorrow and that Dumbledore was still alive. But once again that’s all they are. Just hopes and dreams.”

Lena snapped her head up and glared, “How could you talk like that? How could you sound so defeated?” She abruptly stood up, cutting off his reply. “Is that it? Do you just want to give up? After all that’s happened? After all we’ve been through?”

“But Lena…,” Draco started, standing up with her.

“No, Draco. You can sit here all you want and feel sorry for yourself but I’m not doing it.” She wheeled around, hair streaming out behind her as she hastened out of there.

Draco only stared after her and then sat back on the bed. He’d try and talk to her later after she cooled down. They might be getting along better than they ever had before but they still fought often. It was to be expected, with all the tension built up from being forced to constantly be together.

He laid his head down and thought to himself, ‘Damn, how could I be so stupid? I mean, sure, she’s being over-sensitive and making a big deal out of this but I should have known better than to talk like that in front of her.’ Draco listened to the big grandfather clock striking 6 and thought, ‘Almost dinner time.’ He was fairly sleepy just then and thought he might as well lie down and rest for a moment.

Draco must have been sleepier than he thought because he was soon being shaken awake by the house-elf, Muffy.

“Whaddya wan’? Go ‘way ya’ stupid…” Draco murmured sleepily, swiping at Muffy with his eyes still closed.

“But sir, your father wishes to see you in his study at once.”

“Wha…!” Draco instantly became awake. He jumped off the bed and pushed past the elf, practically running out of the room. ‘What could he possibly want to talk to me about?’ he wondered while smoothing his hair and straitening his clothes.

Draco finally reached the massive doors leading to Lucius’s domain. ‘Well,’ he thought, ‘here goes nothing.’ He opened the doors, expecting only the worst.

I'd like to thank Sorceress14 and the anonymous person for reviewing my story. I hope more people will begin to rate and review. Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated as well as any other remarks.
