The Return

Albus was the first to recover from the shock of seeing two people who were thought to be dead for 19 years.

“James, Lily?” He asked sounding completely confused.

“Hi Albus.” Lily said with a bright smile.

James just laughed at his and everyone else’s expressions, then turned to Sirius. “Padfoot, you owe me 20 galleons, you said Albus Dumbledore would never be surprised by anything.”

That was all it took to snap everyone else out of their trances and Sirius was on his feet in a matter of seconds and heading straight for James. Everyone thought the two were going to embrace like the long lost friends they were, no one expected Sirius to punch James or start yelling at him.

“You bastard, what did you think you were doing leaving like that and letting all of us think you had died? Did you even think at all? Did you think about what would happen to me, Remus, or Harry when you left?”

While he was screaming at James, Severus thought it would be best to tell his husband to come to the meeting through the bond.

“Harry, you might want to come down here. There is something you really should see”

Harry could hear the loathing his husband was feeling. “Is everything ok Sev”

“Just fine, well not really, but no one is too badly hurt, but you might want to bring Poppy with you. We may need both of you to heal people when this is done.”

Harry was starting to get worried now, but responded, “Ok we will be there as soon as we can.”

Then Severus turned back to see what was going on in time to see Albus and Lily trying to pull Sirius and Remus off of James, ‘when did Remus join in?’ he wondered as he went to help. It didn’t take long for him to get Sirius and Remus back in their seats and saw James and Lily were sitting at the other end of the table and took the opportunity to glare at them. Then he heard Albus talking to him.

“Maybe you should tell your husband and Poppy to come down here so we can get this all cleared up Severus.”

“They are already on their way” Severus replied.

Just then James caught what was said and who Albus was talking to. “Why, hello Snivellus, never thought you would find someone to tie themselves down to a greasy bastard like you.” Was what he had to say about the situation.

If Remus and Severus hadn’t been as quick as they were Sirius would have been out of his seat and at James’s throat again. As said before he and Remus became friends with the potions master and they were nothing if not loyal. Besides after Severus got together with Harry he really started taking care of his appearance. His hair was no longer greasy and usually pulled back at the base of his neck. His teeth were now white and he had a little bit of a tan as Harry liked to go outside. He still wore all black and those same robes most of the time, but your can’t expect miracles.

James looked confused as to why his friend reacted like that but was unable to comment as at that time the door opened and Poppy and a young man walked in. The young man was 5ft 8in and had long raven black hair and bright green eyes. It was seeing those eyes, the same eyes as his wife, that he realized this young man was his son.

Harry walked over and sat between Severus and Sirius then looked around the room at who all was there. Then he noticed his parents and started wondering what was going on.

“Well now that we are all here James, Lily why don’t you tell us where you have been all this time.” Said Albus, though they really didn’t have a choice.

“Well… the thing is when we found out Voldemort was after us we created a couple of golems of ourselves and went to Australia. We didn’t want to leave Harry but Minister Allen said it would be the best thing as you couldn’t create a golem of a baby as they grow and age faster than adults. He said once things were safe he would send Harry but on November 1st 1981 he wrote and told us Harry died in an attack by Voldemort.” Was what James had to say

“We didn’t find out otherwise until we saw a newspaper clipping of Harry when he was 14 and he looked happy so we decided it was best to leave him with Sirius as he was happy.” Lily continued.

“Oh yes, he was real happy with Sirius.” Came Severus’s scathing reply. As he said this Harry decided it would be best to have Sev shut up, so he placed his hand on his hand on his arm to calm him. He looked over at Remus and found he was having trouble calming Sirius.

Deciding to stem in and get the two furious men out of the room he said, “maybe it would be best if we continue this at another time once we have had time to think about all this.”

Albus, catching was he was trying to do replied, “Harry is right, we will finish this tomorrow at noon. James, Lily would you mind coming to my office to discuss the curriculum.” He thought it would probably be best if he had them occupied giving Harry and Remus time to calm their husbands down. He found himself grateful those two could be calm even during times like this.

James and Lily looked like they wanted to say no and go talk to Harry, but decided it would be best if they went with Albus and got up to follow him as all the other professors decided to go back to their quarters and think about what they just heard.
