Part Two: Disappear

Disclaimer: I don\'t own any of this, and I\'m not making money off of this.

Warnings: Graphic language, major angst alert, aftermath of a death scene, and suicide.

A/N: This is the conclusion to “Two for Tragedy”. This turned out a little different than I expected. A lot more sorrowful. I cried nearly the entire time I was writing this. So, here goes. Hope you like.

Degree 5: Disappear

Why, tell me the reasons why
Try, still I don\'t understand
Will I ever feel this again
Blue sky, I\'ll meet you in the end
Free them, free the memories of you
Free me, and rest \'til I\'m with you

A day like today
My whole world has been changed
Nothing you say
Will help ease my pain

Turn, I\'ll turn this slowly round
Burn, burn to feel alive again
She, she\'d want me to move on
See me, this place I still belong
Give chase, to find more than I have found
And face, this time now on my own

Days disappear
And my world keeps changing
I feel you here
And it keeps me sane

So I\'m moving on
I\'ll never forget
As you lay there and watched me
Accepting the end
I knew you were scared
You were strong I was trying
I gave you my hand
I said it\'s okay letting go time to leave here
And I\'ll carry on
The best that I can without you here beside me
Let him come take you home

Harry was only gone for maybe an hour. He couldn’t believe how easy it was to kill Voldemort. It was the huge sums of Death Eaters that caused the most problem. But it was finally over now. He and Draco could finally live in peace… Oh no.

He appeared with a crack in front of Malfoy Manor to find it crawling with Ministry officials. Something wasn’t right. As he rushed in he overheard someone say something along the lines of, “We got him.”

Harry’s stomach gave a turn. Draco is going to be ok. He is going to be just fine.

He raced up the stairs. He froze as he saw Hermione yelling at Scrimgeour. She had tears streaming down her face.

“How could you do this?! Whatever happened to giving him a fair trial?! You told them to kill him without a second thought! He just laid there defenseless as…” she stopped after she saw Harry.

He began to shake uncontrollably. It can’t be.

Hermione jumped into Harry’s arms. “Oh, Harry, we got here too late. We tried to…” but Harry just pushed her out of the way and made his way towards the bedroom. “Ron!” she yelled.

Ron appeared from the room and tried to block him.

“Don’t go in there, Harry. You don’t need to see this.”

Harry shoved his way past Ron. His hand came to his mouth and droplets formed in his eyes as he saw what lay in front of him. He felt himself getting sick and fell to his knees.

Draco was laying face-up in the bed. His eyes were closed, and he wore a blank expression. There were about five other wizards standing around the dark bedroom. They were all staring at Harry.

He’s just sleeping. He has to be sleeping.

Harry crawled into the bed and shook Draco’s body. “Wake up,” he begged as the first tears fell. “Wake up.”

But Draco didn’t wake up. He didn’t move at all. He wasn’t even breathing.

Harry felt someone put there hand on his shoulder, and looked back to see Ron giving him a remorseful look.

“This is all one, really big joke, right?” Harry asked as if there was some ray of hope. “He’s going to pop up any minute now, isn’t he?” Harry began to try and suppress his tears, but was failing poorly.

Ron looked down to the floor and shook his head slowly. “I’m sorry, Harry. He’s gone.”

A gargled groan escaped Harry’s lips, and he started to sob loudly.

“No, he can’t be dead,” Harry cried out.

“Come on, Harry. Let’s go.” Ron tried to pull him away, but was given the most unholy death glare he had ever seen from Harry.

“Get out,” Harry said bitterly through clenched teeth.

Ron sighed. “Harry, we have to…”

“Get out!” he screeched. “All of you! Just get the fuck out, now!”

Ron nodded at him and motioned for everyone to leave. After they all filed out, Ron closed the door behind him.

Harry curled into Draco’s side. He laid his hand on Draco’s chest and looked at the pale, lifeless face.

“Draco,” he whispered into his ear, “please get up… please.”

When Draco still didn’t move, Harry whimpered.

“Please, baby… get up… for me.”

He was trying to hold back his tears, but it was just too much. Harry put his head in Draco’s shoulder and began bawling loudly.

This can’t be happening.

Sob after choked sob ripped through the cool and dark bedroom. Nothing he could do would bring his Draco back, and it broke his heart to know that. Harry had never felt pain like this. His whole body ached with the feeling that all was lost. Everything he had worked for was now gone. He had no place in this world anymore. Not without his Draco.

He took Draco’s body into his arms and cried even harder. Harry had lost track of time. He lost track of everything around him. And he really didn’t care about anything anymore either. He just wept until no more tears would fall, and then he wept some more.

After he couldn’t cry anymore, he had begun to rock back and forth with his dead lover in his arms. Harry was so far gone that he didn’t even hear the door open. He never heard the footsteps of someone crossing the room, and he didn’t hear them speak. But someone touched his back to let him know that they were there.

Harry just continued to rock with his pale angel. He never tore his eyes from Draco when he spoke.

“He looks so beautiful,” he barely breathed out. He sounded so defeated, as if his world no longer had meaning. “So beautiful…” he trailed off.

“Harry,” Hermione said slowly, “we have to leave. They have to take his body.”

“Those bastards won’t touch him,” Harry snarled.

She just sighed. “You can’t stay here forever. We need to go.”

Harry sniffled loudly. He began to stroke Draco’s cheek with the back of his hand. There was a long pause before Harry spoke again.

“Hermione, tell everyone that I’m going to miss them very much.”

“What do you mean, Harry?” she asked him with a puzzled look.

He went on as if he didn’t hear her. “Tell Ron that he was the best friend I could have asked for. Tell Ginny that she was like a sister to me…”

Hermione cut him off. “What’s going on? Why are you saying this, Harry,” she asked with a little more force.

But he pushed on. “Tell Lupin he was like a father… Tell Hagrid that…” but he couldn’t finish. His red-ringed eyes had begun to water again.

Hermione looked very concerned. She didn’t know what to think. She prayed that Harry wasn’t thinking of doing what she thought he was.

He laid Draco back down on the bed and gave him a small smile before turning to Hermione. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek.

“I love you, Hermione. You always were there for me. I think you were the closest I had to family.”

A teardrop coursed its way down her face. She knew what was going on. She wasn’t the smartest witch of her time for nothing.

“Harry, don’t do this. You can’t do this,” but she already knew he had made up his mind.

“I have to. I can’t go on without him,” Harry whispered into her ear.

“He wouldn’t want you to do this. He would want you to carry on, and see the world that you saved.”

Harry shook his head and looked down at Draco. “He was my world. And he would want me to do this. That’s what he would have done. He told me. He said that if Voldemort killed me then he would kill himself.”

Hermione was in tears now, but she laughed slightly. “You’re so stubborn.”

Harry hugged her again.

“I’m going to miss you, Harry Potter,” she said. “I’m going to miss you so much.”

He gave her a smile. “I’m going to miss you, too. Tell everyone goodbye for me.”

She smiled back. “I will,” she paused, “you sure about this? Won’t you reconsider?”

Harry looked at her for a moment and then to Draco. Harry took his hand and rubbed circles on his wrist. Draco always loved that.

“No, Hermione. My place is by his side. I’m not going to make him wait any longer.”

She took that as her queue to leave. She stood up to leave, but her legs wouldn’t move. She started to cry very hard and threw herself at Harry.

“Please don’t do this. You can’t go,” she pleaded.

Harry just looked away. “Please leave, Hermione. I don’t want to do this in front of you.”

Hermione couldn’t believe it was actually happening. She sighed and kissed his forehead before walking to the door. She looked back over her shoulder. “Goodbye, Harry.”

“Goodbye, Hermione.”

Harry wrapped himself around Draco and pulled out his wand. He brushed his lips against Draco’s and said, “I’m coming home, baby.” He put the wand to his head and took a deep breath. “Avada Kedavra.”

Hermione closed the door behind her. Ron was waiting outside and looked puzzled.

“Where’s Harry,” he asked.

But before she could answer, a green flash of light came from around the door frame.

Hermione buried her face in Ron’s shoulder and shook her head. “He says goodbye.”

Ron’s eyes grew wider, but he understood. His heart sank. He kissed the top of Hermione’s head and said, “Let’s go home. The press will be here soon, and I don’t want to get caught up in that.”

Hermione looked up into his blue eyes. “Where’s Scrimgeour?” she asked coldly.

“I’m here,” he said from a few feet behind Ron.

She rounded on him. “You will tell the papers that Harry killed the Dark Lord. You will tell them that Draco Malfoy was working as a Death Eater only to retrieve information for Harry.”

Scrimgeour started to speak but she cut him off abruptly. “You will tell them that the Dark Lord found out about Draco’s defiance and killed him. Harry came in right after, and the Dark Lord and Harry killed each other in a duel. That’s what you will tell the press, won’t you?” she asked dangerously.

Scrimgeour frowned. “I don’t think…” but he was again cut off by Hermione.

“You will tell them that. And besides, that gets your ass off the line for killing an innocent man. No one has to know what really happened. Harry would want it like this. So this is the way it will be, understood?” she asked again with fire in her eyes.

He sighed. “Very well.”

Ron draped an arm over her shoulder and led her out of the manor. When they got outside, he kissed her cheek.

She was almost in tears again. “I’m going to miss him so much.”

Ron rubbed her arms. “I am too. But everything’s going to be ok. This stupid war is over now, and everything is going to be just fine.”

Hermione leaned up and kissed him. “Let’s go home.”

A/N: *hides behind sofa* I know you are all screaming at me for some reason or another. For one thing, sorry it took so long to post. I’ve been so busy lately I just didn’t have time. And secondly, it was sad. Very sad. I didn’t plan it being like that, but when inspiration hits, it hits hard. Hope you liked it and it didn’t make you cry too much. Give me some reviews please. I want to know your thoughts on it. Oh, and again, I didn’t have time to get it beta’ed, so don’t mind any grammar mistakes. And if anyone is wondering, the italics were Harry’s thoughts. Just if anyone was confused about that.

Much love,

Morgane
