Now That It's Over
Now That It\'s Over
The song is contained in the forward slashes.
Everclear - \'Now that its over\' If you really want to get into it try listening to the song while you are reading this.
Draco\'s point of view and the explanation of what\'s going on.
/Yeah right!/
Draco stared down at the half eaten meal on his plate and poked it tentatively with his fork. Why he had he though he could eat this, he didn\'t know. Maybe it was supposed to be a distraction from the fucked up reality around him. The sound of his cutlery tapping against the porcelain plate the only noise in their . . .he meant his apartment. Hell, who knew who the apartment belonged to now. But from the state Harry had left it in he didn\'t think the bastard cared.
/One, two, three, four
Break down, shake for me
Nothing ever is the way you want it to be
Nothing even tastes right now that it\'s over/
The baked chicken sat in his mouth like cotton wool, sipping a half filled glass of wine sitting beside his plate he tried to wash it down. However the wine felt like ashes on his tongue. He stared determinedly at the plate he wasn\'t going to read it, not again. He had promised himself that. He was above some petty little crying game like some thirteen year old twit. Unfortunately his will wasn\'t that strong, and his hand lifted a slip of paper. Cheap notepad paper folded so many times the creases were beginning to break with writing on one side.
/Break down, shake for me
Don\'t write words unless you want me to read them
Nothing really matters now that it\'s over/
It said, well Draco didn\'t really want to go through it again. But in summary it contained a dirty little note from Potter\'s fling to the sanctimonious little shit he had once called a boy friend. Slamming back the glass of wine Draco picked up his plate and walked through into the apartments kitchen. Chucking the porcelain dinner plate into the sink he didn\'t care whether it smashed or the food stayed in the sink. Grasping the bottle of wine that had been sitting on the kitchen bench in one hand he walked back out into the living room and slouched onto the couch. Where he had an eye full of their \'family photos\'
/Maybe we can be friends
Now that we\'re older
We can have fun like we did in the early days
Now that it\'s over
Yeah right!/
All those happy smiling faces. Draco stared intently at Harry\'s and wondered if maybe even then he was cheating on him. Maybe he had always wanted to, but had never had the chance. Did any smile in the plastic moments on the wall mean anything. He watched the photo\'s move and in some of them he saw a grinning blond hug and kiss his apparently happy partner. What was the bloody truth? He wanted to know.
/Break down, shake for me
Nothing ever seems the way it ought to be
Nothing ever seems right now that it\'s over/
He remembered back when Harry had built up the courage to approach him just after the war. Draco frowned at the memory which until this afternoon had been one of his most precious. Years of back biting and petty fighting and the boy-that-lived approaches him a Slytherine to the core and asks to go out.
They had been friends towards the end of the war what with his realisation that Voldemort was a raving nutter and his turn around to the order of the phoenix. He had been shocked but also pleased. Harry Potter had asked him out. Who wouldn\'t have been?
/Yeah, now maybe we can be friends
Maybe we can be closer
We can have fun like we did in the old days
Now that it\'s over
Oh yeah.../
Draco finished the bottle of wine and pulling himself up he opened the liquor cabinet and pondered what was inside. Firewhisky use to remind him of his father, now it just reminded him of Harry. And a special weekend.
He had in the past maybe, turned a blind eye to the late nights and the working weekends. Harry was an Auror they had to work long hours he could understand that. But when he had physical proof in his hands he couldn\'t delude himself any more.
/My bad dreams just don\'t seem the same
Baby without you
I wish you were willing to accept the blame
Yeah, for everything you do/
An owl began to peck at the large French windows which opened out from the living room. It was that God Damn Owl again. Draco sipped at a tumbler of normal muggle whisky, he had poured himself, no memories attached to this drink and snarled at the persistent bird. Harry had probably gone crying back to his friends. Well they had been their friends for so long. You are with a person and their friends become yours so what happens when you break up. It all goes to hell that\'s what.
/My nightmares just don\'t scare me now
Baby without you, yeah yeah
I wish that I could find the words to tell
In the best way possible, you and your friends to go to hell
Yeah right!/
Casting a confusion spell at he bird Draco stalked through to their bedroom where the fight had been the loudest. Clothing and knickknacks were spread all over the floor. Draco hadn\'t felt like cleaning it up. He stared at the silk shirts Harry had brought him and at he leather pants he had bought Harry as a surprise.
He remembered the weekend when Harry had first worn them for him, they had been celebrating their second anniversary and Harry had come into the bedroom wearing them and nothing else.
/Whoa, breakup time is never easy to do
Nothing ever ends the way you want it to
Nothing seems to make sense now that it\'s over/
What had hurt the most was that the bloody note had been in the pants. Their pants, they were supposed to be special only for them. Harry couldn\'t keep it in his pants long enough to even think about him. But then this was only the first time it had been thrown in his face so blatantly. He had seen the looks on the weasel\'s face when he wasn\'t looking. But he had ignored it had pushed any questions in his mind away. Harry would never cheat on him. But he did.
/Yeah, now maybe we can be friends
Yeah, now that you\'re leaving
You can be nice to me
Maybe I\'m dreaming
I am a lot better now than just okay
Maybe I am just wakin\' up in my own way
Now that it\'s over
Now that it\'s over/
It was tearing him up inside that even with the note Harry had tried to explain it all away with some glib words and sex. Calling it a prank and a joke from his coworkers. Then when draco had got him to confess he had just screamed at him that it was his fault and that it was because Draco was a frigid bitch that he had to sleep with Her to get any.
Draco began to pick up the clothes and chucking them into the laundry basket. Oh no, it wasn\'t the great Potter\'s fault that he cheated. He would never been the weak willed and selfish.
/My bad dreams just don\'t seem the same
Baby without you
I wish you were willing to accept the blame
Yeah, for all the shitty things you do/
Staring at the pants which were the only things left littering the floor Draco pulled out his wand and slid it through his fingers. They had been a symbol to him of what he had gone through and what happiness could be found even for him, the son of a failed Death-Eater.
Harry had made him fell so special. Pulling the note from his pocket he laughed harshly at himself for not retiring it to Harry in a place the son didn\'t shine. Laughing at himself he tossed the tight leather pants onto the bed. Harry and his bitch had probably slept on, and the set the pants on fire.
/Nightmares just don\'t scare me now
Baby without you
I wish that I could find the words to tell
You to politely go fuck yourself
Yeah, now that it\'s over.../
A/N
I wrote it this way, beacuse in this kind of story Draco is most often portrayed as the one who cheats and betrays Harry and for once I wanted Harry to be the bastard.
I still need a song for the final confrontation, please send me you ideas, until I pick a song I have no idea what I will write.
Thankyou for reviewing.
