Rest indeed. Him, rest? Preposterous.

The Purity of the snow even seemed dull and grey to Severus as he trudged along the street. Elegant scrawl depicted the \"Privet Drive Inn & Tavern\" on a sign now above his head. As he walked into the room he felt the warmth of the beer and people brushed against his face, warmly coaxing him to partake in the joy. However, he wanted no joy, no warmth, no company. He wanted to be left alone with a glass of scotch.

It was a miracle Severus was seated and able to get into the busy establishment. Yes, a miracle known as Lucius. It paid being the tutor and mentor of the son of the richest man in the city. Severus decided economy had the worst timing ever. Just since last July the Tavern had been filled with a younger crowd and it had been impossible to get in.

While Severus had no inclination as to why there was recently so much more business, he frankly didn\'t give a damn, all he knew was that around July he had just started needing a good drink anyway. Harry was supposed to come home, never did though, another perk to his abject existance. Odd as it sounded, he still thought of the boy everyday, it had been ten bloody years and he was still haunted by verdant eyes in his sleep.

Long ago
Just like the hearse, you die to get in again
We are so far from you

Severus made his way to the bar and sat at the stool waiting for Seamus the barkeep to come over. While Severus still missed the old owner Vernon\'s perfect bartending, he preferred the Irishman to that rude bastard anyway.

\"Your usual?\"

\"Yes. . . thank you.\"

\"SHITE! Get this drink over there! What tha\' hell ‘re yeh doin? Wha\'d I say about gawking?! Get movin\'\" Watching the him tease the waiter, Severus began to wonder what kind of girl would get so easily caught up in a job like this. Chuckling Seamus went back to his bar tending.

\"Don\'t blame him ‘neither. I wouldn\' wan ta go over there either.\" Leaning in, more like a bigot woman in a town, than a 6 foot Irishmen, Seamus glanced between Severus and far in the background, where the waiter was supposedly. \"That man, one over there? That man, he\'d be a lech if lechers weren\'t considered lechers. Poor boy, I hope he doesn\'t need help again . . .\" Raising an eyebrow, Seamus was left to wonder if the eyebrow was from the odd statement, or that the new tavern girl was in fact the new tavern boy.

\"Let go! Stop it!\" Deciding it was time to act like he gave a damn, Severus turned on the stool glancing where Seamus seemed to be looking at. A rather drunk and portly, but still broad shouldered man seemed to be salivating from more than just his inebriation. In the corner the man had a tiny body bent over his lap, petite legs flying over and around till finally, an arm was set free, and a powerful right hook sent.

\"Fire Cracker ain\'t he?\" Severus had to admit, he agreed that the boy was much more than his slim body gave off. At first glance, the tutor would have thought that the boy was going to be raped, but obviously there was a bit more to him. That display however didn\'t mean much, if the boy had met someone a bit more determined, less drunk or even competent he might not have stood a chance, judging by his 5\' 3\" stature. Seeing the drama over, he turned around again, only to be interrupted again.

\"Good lord, your assaulted every few minutes!\"

\"Don\'t I know.\" The voice. . . it seemed so different from what he thought, so cultured, quiet, even refined, he would have never guessed he was a tavern girl. . .boy. . . waiter. Severus looked to his right, to see a delicate hand reach to take the napkins the barkeep was handing him. The petite wrist was soon snatched and encircled by thick broad fingers connected to muscular body and a grinning face.

The huge man who had been towering over the waiter soon dropped to one of the stools dragging the boy once again onto a lap unwillingly. This time with the waiters back to the muscled chest, Severus could see the males face. Fair skin, and strikingly black tresses and long eyelashes tightly clasped from closed eyes . . . Severus\'s eyes were flooded by the black and white beauty as his ears began to understand what was going on.

\"Stop it.\" far too calm. This boy was very used to this treatment, and Severus didn\'t like it.

\"Come on, honey! Don\'t be that way! Honestly, you come in, so damn pretty. . .\" the last sentence was accentuated by a smug kiss on the lips. Severus had seen enough.

\"Seamus, Do something! My god-\"

\". . .cant\"

\"What?\" Severus listened for an answer, while the pleads to stop endlessly spewed from the charmer\'s lips.

\"I can\'t. Boss said its good for business. I can only interfere when it might hurt his appearance or when he\'s gonna get raped, anything else I gotta let happen.\"

\"Stop it! No!\" The man had both wrists encased in iron grips, and was thoroughly enjoying all the squirming and crying given off from the creature in his arms.

\"Come on, Harry, Open those pretty ‘lil eyes for me. . . just for me. . . come on.\"
Smiling the man continued to pull him closer. Severus was getting up to help the boy, when it clicked.

Harry.

The Durselys\' Tavern.

Burning on, just like a match you strike to incinerate
The lives of everyone you know
And what\'s the worst you take
From every heart you break
And like a blade you stain
Well, I\'ve been holding on tonight

\"Let him go right now, you bastard.\" Punching the man square in the nose, Severus yanked the boy to him, and left the tavern mumbling to Seamus they\'d be back later. By the time they got out and were a few feet from the tavern the tutor looked at what lay in his arms.

Green. Green was everywhere . He was looking down one minute, then all of a sudden, he was lost. Completely lost in those eyes. They were everywhere! Just looking up at him as little hands clutched his robes.

\" . . . Sev?\" it sounded like it did when he was seventeen. . . It still made his heart flutter. It made him want to be a good man, made him want to everything and nothing just for those perfect eyes.

\"Severus! Its you! They said you were different! They were wrong! Its you! Ohh Severus! It- Its you!\" The hands on his robes wheeled around his neck, the boy on tip toes as he clung for dear life just to keep this moment. But then it stopped, there was no hugging, no clutching, it was empty and all Severus saw was a back.

What\'s the worst that I can say?
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long not goodnight

Came a time
When every star falls
Brought you to tears again
We are the very hurt you sold
And what\'s the worst you take
From every heart you break
And like a blade you stain
Well, I\'ve been holding on tonight

\"Why did you do it?\" Still coming from a hunched back.

\"What?\" Utterly lost bye the mood change, severus stared at the back of Harry\'s head, waithing to understand.

\"Why did you let me!?\"

\"Harry, I don-\"

\"Why?! Why did you let me leave without saying good bye?\" The words choked out, ripping Harry\'s throat, and then Severus\'s soul.

\". . . \"

\"Why couldn\'t you have spared me a minute!? Was I so unimportant?\"

\"You know tha-\"

\"What? You forgot? Were you busy? Were you happy?\"

What\'s the worst that I can say?
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight

Well, if you carry on this way
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long not goodnight

\"You were happy.\" So quiet. . . so startlingly quiet. . .

Can you hear me
Are you near me
Can we pretend to leave and then
We\'ll meet again, when both our cars collide

\"No.\"
What\'s the worst that I can say
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long not goodnight

\"Never happy. . . without you. . . never. . . \"

Well, if you carry on this way
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long not goodnight

Severus Passed out before he heard Harry screaming his name. . . passed out while Harry was still screaming his \"goodnight\".
