Softer Sins: Ron’s Heartache

His lover is lost in his fantasy again. He knows this because it’s the only time there is ever emotion in those eyes anymore. He would be dreaming of long, potion stained fingers, sallow skin, and dark, penetrating eyes. Of a sensual voice, perhaps deepened even more in the height of passion. Of the love he was never able to attain from the only man he ever wanted.

They are more alike in that respect than any other.

He loses himself in the gentle motions made from above him, hurting because he knows that while he is providing this pleasure physically, mentally he is someone else to the man riding him.

He grips his lover’s hips, his eyes catching on the Dark Mark that graces his own arm, and he wants to cut it off but he can’t, so instead he settles them both into a rhythm that is brutal. After a while, he feels muscle tense and hears a keening cry of satisfaction, though it is tinged with something more melancholy.

He sees him wince as his cock slides out, and starts to whisper in his ear. Things he has always wanted to say to him, but was never brave enough to do so.

He sees green eyes open, and his heart breaks all over again. There is no love in his gaze. He watches as Harry steals a glace at his forearm, feeling a deep, resounding sadness fill him.

“I hate you,” he hears Harry say.

I love you.’ he thinks, but says instead,

“I know.”

And he smiles as he says it, because even as his heart is breaking, he knows that the hatred in those eyes means that Harry can still feel. And if Harry can still feel, there is still hope that, one day, his feelings may change.
