Chapter 2: The morning after the night before......

A/N: OK I own nothing, it all belong the wonderful, wonderful, talented J. K Rowling! I’m new at all this so be gentle.
I haven’t got a beta yet and after your kind reviews for the last chapter I thought I would keep going until the time you decide you hate me lol. Oh yes and any flames will be reported to my team of rabid ferrets. They can sky dive and everything!

Chapter 2: The morning after the night before......

He was not in a happy mood.

Snape scowled as he tried to figure out exactly where he was. It was quite difficult to think due to the tap dancing hippogriff in his head. For the life of him he couldn’t fathom why the room was moving. He closed his eyes again to no avail...the world was spinning in there too. Finally giving in, cursing the fact it wasn’t a weekend (not that it would make much difference he’d still feel sick), he pulled the sheet that had stuck to his mouth, off his dry lips and sat up a little quicker than his stomach was ready for. He closed his eyes again in a vain hope the room would stop spinning before eventually managing to stagger to the bathroom, bumping off many walls and surfaces along the way. Standing under the shower he closed his eyes and let the warm water run over his face and into his dry mouth, hoping to flush out the thing that had curled up and died in there... He mused over the strange craving for muggle ‘skips’ (a prawn cocktail flavoured crisp) and decided he would speak to Dumbledore as that muggle loving old fool would no doubt know how to acquire some... he didn’t think it wise to try and fool his stomach into wanting something else. After his shower and the rest of his usual morning routine he dressed slowly cursing the amount of buttons on his robes. Before he made his way to the great hall for breakfast he raided his private stores for a suitable hangover cure, preferably a very strong one. After a fruitless search and further cursing Snape stormed out of his dungeons. He would have to settle for a strong black coffee instead.

The hall was full already of students and a great deal of excited voices. Snape’s headache worsened with the noise. It wasn’t until he had made it halfway up the slytherin table that he noticed hundreds of pairs of eyes watching him. He reached the staff table noticing that the faces the eyes belonged to where smiling. Snape felt greatly unnerved. He scowled as some of them even waved. His hangover was bad enough to let him know he wasn’t dreaming... he did wonder though. Choosing to ignore them, expecting it to be some plan of Potter’s to annoy him; he set about drinking his coffee, wishing he could block out the smell of bacon which was making his stomach do a merry upside down dance.

....

Harry, Ron and Hermione we’re sitting chatting happily at the Gryffindor table. Ron was as unintelligible as always as his mouth was hardly ever empty at meal times. Harry for once was in a good mood and chatting about quidditch occasionally wiping pieces of food of his face when Ron got a bit too enthusiastic over a certain manoeuvre or over the mention of his favourite team, the Chudley Cannons. Hermione was trying to memorise her timetable occasionally trying to correct the boys on their terminology but she needn’t have bothered as Ron was most defiantly more knowledgeable on the subject than her. After a moment she noticed they had gone quiet. Ron had a weird sort of smile on his face and had stopped mid chew and his and Harry’s eyes where following something.

Hermione turned round to see what had them so rapt. All she could see was Snape striding into the hall to the Staff table looking very grumpy, wearing his usual black robes that showed off for a brief moment what struck Hermione as quite a cute arse. She shook herself. ‘A cute what?’ Blinking hard she decided any further thoughts on that subject she would submit herself to the hospital wing pronto! She was obviously loosing the plot.

...

Five minutes into his liquid breakfast Snape finally lifted his head. Nope...they where still there. His eyes roamed over to the Gryffindor table to where the Golden Trio sat. Sure enough Harry and Ron where staring at him smiling. Snape scowled at them thanking Merlin he had potions with the sixth years first. He WOULD make them pay! He began plotting silently when he found a rather annoying small voice distracted him.

“Oh...um...er, Professor? ...excuse me...um ...Professor?”

“What” he barked, hand flying up to his temple as his brain jumped with the noise.

The speaker nearly fell off their chair and after much waving about of arms and feet attempting to steady themselves. Snape grabbed the robes at the back of their neck and plonked them unceremoniously back on the chair upright.

“Flitwick I don’t have all day” he sneered at the small slightly flushed smiling professor sitting to his left.

“Oh yes...um...quite right....um” Flitwick blushed slightly and started mumbling

“Speak up Fillius I can’t hear you” Snape frowned at him

“Er...I was um just wondering...if ...um ...perhaps...I-I mean if you where free...would you like to join me...for ...a drink tonight at the three broomsticks?” He blushed further.

“Who else is going?” Snape stared at Flitwick who would start glowing if he managed to blush any more.

“Oh er um... haven’t got to ask anyone else yet.”

Snape was confused. He was normally last to be asked and usually only because Dumbledore insisted. He looked over to Dumbledore who was watching him. Dumbledore winked confusing Snape further. The hangover fairy had defiantly awarded him most unusual morning after he had ever had.

“I’ll think about it” he said hastily before rising (nearly knocking Flitwick out of his chair again) and leaving the Hall.
