Chapter Two

Severus heard talking near him. It sounded much like Dumbledore and McGonagall. He couldn\'t make out what they were saying, but he knew they were talking about him. He couldn\'t remember anything, except that he had fainted. Suddenly, the reason why he had fainted dawned on him. Bolting upright Severus threw himself out of bed and almost knocked down Dumbledore.

\"Ah, I see you have awaken Severus,\" he said softly, smiling at the potion\'s master. McGonagall nodded stiffly and walked out of the hospital wing. Severus felt panic surge through his body.

\"Where is Ha-Mr. Potter? Is he-\"

\"He is fine, just fine. He is here in the hospital wing, having a little nap. He has been out cold for about an hour or so. He awoke right after you passed out, Severus.\"

Severus felt his insides begin to do gymnastic routines as Dumbledore eyed him carefully. \"He told me who the father was of the child. I suspected correct.\"

Severus sighed. He was now out of a job.

\"Albus I-\"

\"No need for apologies, Severus. He told me it was \'all his fault\' and that he didn\'t want you to \'get sacked\'. I had a difficult time trying to calm him down. He is quite worried about you and your job. This stress isn\'t good for the child, Severus.\"

Severus nodded, and looked over Albus\' shoulder. He saw Harry stir a bit on a bed across the room. \"I will not fire you, Severus. I would have an exceptionally difficult time to find a man with your experience to take over. However...\"

Severus looked back at Albus, who was suddenly more serious than ever. \"However, I must warn you that you are in a very difficult situation. No one else knows about you and Harry, and no one will find out. Take it as a favour from me to you. But for the rest of the year, I do not want you to be engaging in sexual acts with Mr. Potter. The school year is almost over, and Harry will not have the baby while at school. There is a spell he can conjure to make himself appear as his usual state. I have already went through this with Harry. He is not allowed to play Quidditch for the rest of the year, and he is to exclude himself from stressful activities.\"

Severus nodded as his heart went back to it\'s usual pace. He was suddenly more overjoyed that Harry had defeated the Dark Lord the year before. If he hadn\'t, he\'d be in a much worse state. \"Since Harry is not going back to his aunt and uncle...I was wondering whether he could stay with you. Therefore, you can be with him in his most...brutal times.\"

Severus nodded silently.

\"Thank you Albus.\"

\"I cannot fire you just because you are in love, Severus. It would be a waste of a life to live in solitude.\" With that statement, Albus strolled out of the hospital wing and Severus was left alone with Harry. He sat at the edge of the bed and watched his lover sleep. Severus always loved how Harry looked when he was asleep. How his hair would fall into his face. How his lips were lightly parted and bright pink. How his eyes were closed softly and would flutter open once in a while. Severus tucked a lock of hair behind Harry\'s ears, and the boy began to awake.

\"Sorry Harry. Didn\'t mean to wake you.\"

Harry looked up and saw Severus. His eyes went huge as he pulled the teacher into a giant hug. Severus felt hot tears on his shoulder, and he tried to sooth the boy. When Harry pulled back, Severus saw tears streaming down his cheeks. Before Severus could open his mouth, Harry began to ramble.

\"I hope I didn\'t make you lose your job, I just really really love you and being with you and I didn\'t think that this was going to happen hell I didn\'t even know it was possible oh Sev please forgive me?\" Harry blurted out, not taking a breath in between. He then bit his trembling lip and began sobbing some more. Severus really didn\'t know what to do. He was never the comforting type, as he was never treated like that as a child. Before Severus could react, Harry was again hiding his face in his lover\'s chest. Severus wrapped his arms around him and just rubbed up and down his back. For a while Harry just cried, and Severus soothed him. \"Sev...I\'m so sorry...\"

\"It really should be me who is apologizing,\" Severus replied, pushing back from his lover and wiping the tears from his cheek. Harry opened his mouth, but then he tilted his head a bit and brought his hand to Severus\' cheek. Severus flinched as pain flickered in the spot that Harry touched. Harry retreated his hand.

\"You got one nasty bruise on your cheek, Sev.\" Harry said, thick with worry. Severus slowly got up and looked in a mirror. Harry was right. On his left cheek, there was a large purple and brown bruise, which he must of gotten when he fainted. He touched it again, and jumped as pain yet again shot in his face. He saw Harry come up behind him and wrap his arms around Severus\' waist. He snuggled his face in Severus\' shoulder, and in return Sev held Harry\'s hands.

\"Dumbledore told you what is going to happen, correct?\" Severus asked.

\"Yeah. No Quidditch. Pity really. I don\'t know who is going to be our Seeker.\"

\"That\'s not really your concern right now Harry. You\'re pregnant and well...\"

\"I think being pregnant is gonna be fun, actually.\"

Severus spun around and saw Harry blush. \"I guess because it\'s our baby...makes it kind of...nice...\"

\"I didn\'t realize that Mr. Potter, the saviour of the wizarding world, would want to have a child with the slimy potions professor he hated for so long.\" Severus smiled. Harry merely frowned.

\"I thought I went over this with you before. I didn\'t hate you, I just didn\'t know why you treated me so bad,\" Harry replied, and wrapped himself around Severus. A door opening and closing made the two men jump, and Harry scurried off to his bed. Severus folded his arms and tried to look intimidating, but the large bruise on his face completly ruined the image. Ron and Hermione came in with flowers and what seemed to be goodies, and they smiled brightly.

\"Harry!\" Hermione beamed as she ran to Harry\'s side and hugged him lightly. Ron smiled as he put down the things he had in his arm. The two then glanced quickly at Severus, who strode out of the hospital wing with his robes billowing around him. Harry tried to scowl, but he just couldn\'t. That was his child\'s father. How could he act like he hated him now?

\"What happened to Snape? That bruise looks awful,\" Hermione said as she pulled up a chair for her and Ron. Harry shrugged.

\"Don\'t know...I kind of passed out after a while.\" Harry said as he laid down comfortably.

\"And what the bloody hell happened to you Harry?!\" Ron asked. Yet again, Harry shrugged.

\"Bad reaction to one of the substances in the potion, I guess.\"

\"You mean they haven\'t even told you what happened?!\" Ron nearly shouted, but Hermione calmed him down with a soothing voice. She then looked at Harry.

\"Well it looks like you\'re okay now, right?\"

Harry nodded, and watched his friends smile weakly.

\"I\'m a bit tired you guys, I\'m gonna sleep for a bit. I should be up to Gryffindor sometime tomorrow. Madame Pomfrey wants me to stay here for the night so she can watch on me for any later reactions.\"

His two friends nodded as they said goodbye and left the Hospital Wing. Harry sighed. He really wasn\'t tired, he just wanted some time to himself. He had a lot to think about...he never really knew that men could get pregnant. Obviously his Sev didn\'t know either. When Dumbledore had told Harry he was carrying a baby, Harry had just broke down and told him everything without even realizing it. Afterwords, Dumbledore had set up a few ground rules. No sexual engagements with Severus while he was at Hogwarts, no stressful activities, no drugs/alcohol, no Quidditch and to not tell anyone at the time. Harry didn\'t think he would want anyone to know about this. Not just yet. He knew Ron would have a freak out once he found out that he was with Snape. Hermione would be a lot calmer, but she would still be a little bit disturbed. This was Snape he was with...the old, greasy bastard whom the three had despised since their first year. Harry sighed as he sank down even lower into the bed, but then smiled. He was going to have Severus\' baby...
