A warning from the Sorting Head

***On the Hogwarts Express***

Alex couldn’t get that older wizard out of her head.
There was something strange about him. If only she could figure out what.
Maybe it was the way the looked, maybe it was the way he acted but something wasn’t right or was her feeling false? She didn’t know.
She remember exactly what he looked like.
He had long white blond hair and his cold grey eyes had looked deep into her green/dark blue ones as if he was searching for something that was buried deep inside her.
It had freaked her out.
He wore a long dark red cloak, a pair of black pants, a white shirt and black boots that came up to his knees. With that he held a cain which had the head of a snake.
Alex found it all very disturbing and that got even worse when she noticed a strange sign on the inside of his wrist/lower arm. It looked like a skull which had a snake coming out of its mouth.
It scared her but it also made her wonder about the meaning of it or was it just a tattoo?
She decided to drop the subject.
Her sister had seemed so self-confident when she shook his hand, Alex wished she had been too but when he moved closer to her and offered his hand all she could do was take a few steps back. Why she did that was a total mystery to her but he frightened her.
Suddenly her thoughts were interrupted when she heard Candy call her name.

“Alex! Are you listening to me?” Candy spoke
“Yes, I’m listening” Alex answered all thought she knew she was lying.
“Good, well as I said we need to find a place to sit”
“Just keep walking and see if there is any room in these compartments” Alex replied.
“Ok” Alex sighed. Guess that was even too hard for Candy to find out.

In the end the girls ended up in one of the last compartments with each other.
They just sat there, read a little from their new bought books and talked a little.
Around noon a friendly old lady popped her head around the door.

“Anything off the trolley girls?” she asked.
The girls both got up and looked around a bit. Alex was kinda craving for a snickers bar but to bad they didn’t have it. Actually they didn’t recognize any of the sweets that were on the trolley. Candy looked at her sister.
“Just give us a little from everything” Alex spoke. She thought that would be a good idea and soon after they had paid the lady they started eating.
Half an hour later the girl decided it was time to change all though they didn’t get far because a girl about there age walked in and asked if any of them had seen a toad, some guy named Neville had lot it. After the girls told her no, she left and the girls could get changed.

It was already dark when the train finally stopped at a station and everybody could get of the train.
“All right then, First years this way please. Come on now first years don’t be shy. Come on now hurry up.” A loud voice called.
“Guess we better get out there” Alex spoke and noticed her sister nod.
As soon as they got outside the girl saw the person from whom the voice had belonged to.
“Holly Sh*t” Alex muttered and all Candy could do was stare.
None of the girls had ever seen such a person. He was very large as well as in height as waist, further he was very hairy, had a large beard and beetle bright eyes. He wore a large overcoat and held a lamp in his right hand. “Well at least he looks friendly” Alex thought all thought she had to get used to the sight for a few minutes.
“Alright then, this way to the boats, follow me” he spoke as he turned around and started walking. For a second the girls looked at each other but soon followed the rest of the first years towards the boat.
The boat ride was fantastic, never had both of the girls seen something so beautiful.
Pretty soon after that was over the giant had left, who name was Hagrid by the way and they were walking up a couple of stone steps. At the end of those stairs stood a old stern looking witch. She had square glasses and grey hair which she wore in a tight bun.

“Welcome to Hogwarts” she welcomed the first years.
“Now in a few moments you will pass through these doors and join your classmates but before you can take your seats you must be sorted into your houses.”
They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin
Now while you’re here your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points, any rule breaking and you will lose points. At the end of the year the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup.” The witch spoke

At that point a boy with black hair rushed forward screaming “Trevor!”
A few students laughed. “Sorry” the boy excused himself and took a few steps back again but this time he had his frog.

“The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily” the old woman finished, turned and walked away.

Things weren’t over yet. At that point another boy spoke. This time it was a young lad with blond hair, which he had combed backwards.

“It’s true then, what they were saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts.”
At that point people started whispering and looked at a boy with raven black hair and alighting bold on his forehead.

“This is Crabbe and Goyle and I’m Malfoy” he spoke and walked over to the kid whose name apparently was Harry. “Draco Malfoy” At that point the red haired kid chuckled but he stopped as soon as he saw the murderess look Draco was giving him. “Think my name is funny do you? No need to ask yours. Red hair and a hand me down robe you must be a Weasley.” Draco spoke. You’ll soon find out that some wizarding families are better then others Potter. You don’t want to go making friends with the wrong short” the blond haired boy spoke and glanced shortly at the red haired kid. “I can help you there” he finished and offered Harry his hand. “I think I can tell the wrong short for myself, thanks” Harry spoke.

Instantly Alex knew that the first rivalry had already started. This Malfoy kid and Potter were born to be each others enemies. Suddenly something else came to mind. That older wizard, what did he say his name was again. Malfoy! So this kid must be his son, Alex thought. “Just great -.-“ she thought. At that point the witch was back and soon they all stood in front of the entire school, anxious about what was going to happen to them.

The headmaster Dumbledore gave a little speech.
Rule number one: The Dark Forest was forbidden for all students
Rule number two: Third floor corridor on the right hand side was off limit
After that the name calling started.
Pretty soon it was Candy’s turn. She nervously sat down on the crutch and waited for the ‘verdict.’ It took the head a few seconds to decide where to put her but then it spoke. “Slytherin”

In those few seconds the head and Candy had had a private talk.

*In Mind*
“Now let’s see where shall I put you?”
“I see you’re cunning, not too bright though.”
“Got a favorite house?” the head asked.
“Well, I always look good in green” Candy thought.
(Believe me if the head could roll his eyes and who knows he can. He would have at that point)
“Mhhh I see, well you’ve a dark mind, money and power is everything to you”
“Guess it’ll be…Slytherin!” the head spoke
*End of conversation*

Alex saw her sister walk towards her house and excepted she would end up in Slytherin too. Little did she know that didn’t happen, things were different with her.

“Greenfield, Alex” the old witch spoke.
Slowly Alex walked up the few steps and sat down.
This time the head took long, very long it took him nearly half a minute to come up with a house.

*In Mind*
“Ah, another Greenfield. Guess you think you’re gonna be with your sister ey?” the head spoke.
“I guess so” Alex answered back.
“Well...no you’re not Slytherin material. You’re not cunning at all”
“You like to look at the good things a person has got and oh I see you’re loyal, that good”
“Very good but what’s that?” The head stopped for a moment.
“What’s what? Tell me.” Alex spoke.
“Your life won’t be easy, little girl”
“Things will change and points of view will be trade in for different ones”
“Only if you’re mentally and physically strong you will succeed.”
“Never think you’re less then others, take their words and use them to get stronger”
“Only then can good prevail”
“If different, darker times will come for us all”
“Oh dear I’ve said too much already!” the head suddenly spoke.
“No, tell me what is going to happen?” Alex nearly screamed mentally.
“I don’t know. Now for your house…I’ll be Hufflepuff” the head spoke.
*End Mind*

Alex could not have been more confused at that point. She didn’t even register what happened the rest of the evening. She didn’t know how she got to her Dorm or any of those things. What had life in stored for her? What was it that could affect the ‘whole’ world? She had so many questions already, now all she had to do was wait for the answers whenever they would come.
