Ten Years- Part 2
“Hello Miss Granger.” Severus said.
“Oh. Hello Professor Snape.” Hermione said politely.
“Would you care to dance?” Severus asked as a slow song began to play.
“All right.” Hermione answered.
Hermione and Severus moved to the dance floor. Severus took her into his arms and they began to sway to the music.
“Miss Granger, before you left, I never got the chance to apologize for my behavior that day. I over reacted and I shouldn’t have.” Severus said quietly.
“It’s all right sir.” Hermione replied.
“No it’s not. I should never have spoken to you like that, let alone hit you. I hope you can forgive me.” Severus said.
“Professor Snape, I forgave you a long time ago.” Hermione said with a slight smile.
Severus smiled as well. They continued to move elegantly across the floor. As the song ended, Severus stopped Hermione before she could walk off.
“Would you care to step outside for some fresh air?” he asked.
“I would love to.” she answered with a bright smile.
Arm-in-arm the two headed outside to the gardens that had been set up for the festivities. As the reached the garden Harry and his wife Kelly stopped in front of them.
“Hello Hermione.” Harry said.
“Harry.” Hermione replied.
“Well, well. I guess you get what you’ve always wanted Snape.” Harry said.
“What are you talking about Potter?” Severus asked.
“You always acted as if you were the King of Hogwarts. Now you get your wish.” Harry answered as his wife giggled.
“How dare you Harry.” Hermione said as her temper rose.
“What? Come on Hermione, he always acted as if he was the Headmaster. But I’ll tell you this Snape, you’ll never be half the wizard Albus Dumbledore was. No matter how hard you try, your past will always be there. Right over your shoulder. Reminding you of what you truly are. A no good, rotten bastard.” Harry hissed.
SLAP!!!
“How dare you Harry James Potter! Severus has proven himself over and over again! He risked his own life to help save the Wizarding World! He’s done more for our world than you! What has happened to you over the past ten years? After you killed Voldemort you became an arrogant little prick!” Hermione yelled as she stared at Harry who had a large red hand print on his face.
“How dare you talk to my husband that way?” Kelly yelled.
“Back off bitch! This doesn’t concern you!” Hermione yelled back.
“If I didn’t know any better Hermione, I would swear you were in love with Snape. That or you’re jealous of how popular and successful I am.” Harry said with an arrogant smile.
“Jealous? Of you? I don’t think so. I’ve accomplished all but one of the goals I had set for myself when I started here at Hogwarts. I’m a Potions Mistress, I have the most successful apocrathy in not only Italy, but the world. As for my last goal, I’m working on it. Why don’t you and your blond bimbo of a wife just leave. I’m sure you would rather be with you pathetic Quidditch fans or screwing your wife’s brains out. After all, that’s about all she’s good for right?” Hermione said.
“You bitch!” Harry yelled.
“Hey, if the shoe fits, wear it. Good night.” Hermione said in a sing song voice as she pulled Severus and the couple walked away.
Once they were out of ear shot and out of sight, Hermione and Severus began to laugh. The collapsed on a stone bench clutching their side from laughing so hard.
“Ooohhh. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard.” Severus said five minutes later.
“Harry and that thing of a wife had it coming. I’m sure Draco told you what happened at the wedding between Ron and Harry?” Hermione asked.
“Yes he did. I wish I could have seen Weasley pound the living shit out of Potter.” Severus said.
The two sat in silence just enjoying the peaceful quiet of the grounds.
“Hermione, what was your final goal?” Severus asked.
“What did you just call me?” Hermione asked in shock.
“Hermione.” Severus answered.
“That is the first time you ever said my name. It surprised me. As to my final goal, it was to find a husband, settle down and have a family.” Hermione said.
“You told Potter you were working on it. Are you seeing someone?” Severus asked.
“In my dreams maybe. There’s someone who has stolen my heart and has had it for about eleven or twelve years now, only he doesn’t know it.” Hermione answered.
“Someone you went to school with then.” Severus said, trying to hide his disappointment.
“He wasn’t a student. But I did meet him here at Hogwarts. I didn’t realize what I felt for him till about my fifth year or so. At first I thought it was just a crush, but then it kept growing and growing. By my last year I knew I was in love.” Hermione replied.
Severus simply nodded.
‘Who am I kidding? She could never love me as I love her. Potter was right. My past will always be there, just beneath the surface.’ Severus thought sadly.
“Severus, don’t believe anything Harry said to you. According to Minerva, you have accepted and finally put your past behind you once and for all.” Hermione said as she reached over and took his hand in her.
“Say that again.” Severus whispered.
“Say what again?” Hermione asked.
“My name.” Severus answered.
“Severus.”
Severus gathered her petite form into his arms and captured her lips with his. He expected her to pull away, but was surprised when she wrapped her arms around him as well. The kiss was slow, gentle and full of emotion. Hermione pulled him a close as she could. As his tongue danced with hers, she let out the moan she had been trying to hold back. Slowly they came apart.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.” Severus said.
“Are you kidding? I’ve been imagining what it would feel like to be in your arms and kissing you for over ten years.” Hermione said.
“What?” Severus asked as he stared hopefully at her.
“Severus, you were the man I was talking about. It was the beginning of my fifth year when I started having a crush on you. It wasn’t until my seventh year that I realized I was in love with you. I knew I couldn’t tell you, so I kept it to myself. No one knew how I felt about you.” Hermione answered.
Severus gathered her in his arms and kissed her once more. He couldn’t believe that she loved him. He felt Hermione tightened her hold on him as the kiss wore on. Both were clutching each other as if they would disappear. After about ten minutes or so they came apart.
“When are you returning to Naples?” Severus whispered.
“Day after tomorrow. I’ve been asked to do a guest lecture at the University in Naples on the potion I’m working on to hopefully cure lycropathy. Remus is currently testing it at St. Mungo’s. If the potion is successful, it will be a major break through for many witches and wizard’s world wide. Remus is in the final stage, we just have to wait for the full moon in a week to know if the potion worked or not.” Hermione answered.
“That’s wonderful. I was wondering if you would like to stay the night with me?” Severus said.
“I would like that Severus.” Hermione said with a smile.
Hand-in-hand the couple rose to their feet and headed back into the castle. They could still hear the sound of the party in the Great Hall, but neither cared at the moment. Within minutes they were in Severus’s private chambers. Severus made them both a drink and joined her on the couch.
“Here’s to your potion. May it be a success.” Severus said as he raised his glass to her in a toast.
“And here’s to us. A new beginning.” Hermione said, making a toast of her own.
They clinked their glasses together and took a sip of their liquor. They sat there and talked. Mainly about what they had been doing over the past ten years. Somewhere along their talk, they and moved into each other’s arms. Their empty glasses were placed on the coffee table and they were now sitting in a comfortable silence holding one another.
“Hermione, why did you agree to stay the night with me?” Severus asked.
“Because I wanted to.” Hermione answered with a smile.
Severus smiled and pulled her to him. Their lips met once more. This kiss was different. It held so much emotion and promises of the future. Hermione and Severus both moaned at the intensity of the kiss. Within seconds Severus had Hermione laying on her back with him over her. Hermione never once tried to stop him.
“Hermione, if you don’t want this, stop me now.” Severus said huskily.
“If you stop I will hex you to hell and back.” Hermione replied just as huskily.
That was all the encouragement Severus needed.
