Disclaimer:
I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Uninvited
Disclaimer: Of course I don't own Harry Potter. If I did, would Hermione and Snape be kissing? I don't think Ms. Rowling would approve.
Author's Note: I don't really like long chapters, so I'm trying to keep it short and sweet. Maybe I'll start writing longer chapters sometime. Thanks for the reviews!
Summary: Hermione's point-of-view.
Uninvited
I knocked on his door, my heart in my throat. I waited, nervously twisting my fingers together. I almost left when his door opened. He stood there, his face framed in his dark hair. It was clean, and non-greasy. I knew that it became that way because of a spell he used to keep himself looking like the lapdog he played. He took my breath away.
"What do you want Miss Granger?" I couldn't speak. I couldn't tell him why I was there. I couldn't decide on a plausible answer. How could I tell him—my professor--that since I came of age I no longer wanted to be treated as a child by this man—this man who ignored and dismissed me so often. Who insulted me when he could.
I wondered at the strength of character that he had to possess to be able to face Lord Voldemort while hiding the truth from him. How he could stand to have the dark mark burn when someone whose policies he didn't agree with summoned him.
"Miss Granger?" His velvety smooth voice pooled around my ankles like dark water. I could swear my knees melted.
"Professor Snape, please. May I come in?" My voice trembled from nervousness. I hoped he thought I was upset. He'd never let you in, you silly girl! I berated myself.
To my surprise he didn't lecture me. He didn't send me away telling me that I had to be in bed. Instead he stepped aside, allowing me passage into his private chambers. I walked into his room, holding my robe tight to me, hiding my white nightgown.
His chambers were dark, the gripped wand in his hand providing the only light. I couldn't tell in the shivery silver light what colors his room, were decorated in. He shut the door behind me. I stopped and turned in the middle of a sumptuously thick carpet. I was ringing my hands together again. He didn't start a fire; that could be dangerous for the both of us, as someone could pop their head into the fire through the floo network. Instead he took my wand from me and muttered, "Lumos." My wand lit itself with the same shivery silver light. He set both wands on opposing shelves on the wall. The room was lit now, but everything had a silvery cast to it.
"Miss Granger, will you tell me now exactly why you came to my private chambers uninvited?" I didn't answer. Instead I crossed the room to him with quick strides. I surged up onto my tiptoes and placed a swift, small kiss on his thin lips. I moved back to my heels. A smooth long-fingered hand came up to touch his lips.
"I know. I'm out of place professor. I will be leaving now." I made to move past him. My heart was in my throat, pounding, pounding and choking me. I swallowed back tears. He'll never want a silly little girl like me.
He grabbed my arm. I looked up into his face; I could see it behind the shimmering tears on my lashes. He didn't look angry. Instead he lowered his face to mine. His lips brushed mine so softly I wasn't sure it happened. A bolt of electricity shot down my spine.
"You weren't invited Miss Granger." I silenced him with another kiss.
