Chapter 2

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>A/N:lang=EN-GB style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'> Hi! The
hits on my first chap being a huge encouragement (I'm not very good at updating
fast), I decided to write the second chap... All I hope is that you'll like it!
Pleasant read!!!

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>Disclaimer:lang=EN-GB style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'> Not
mine... unfortunately.

Rating: NC-17, for non-con, humiliation and other stuff... there
will be some romance, but it will take some time to establish itself. I love
writing this so I'm not going to rush it. There's also some scary stuff to do
with the house, but not in this chapter...

Haunted House

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>Chapter 2

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>Stunned, Hermione
felt herself break out in cold sweat. Suddenly, it was as though she was
standing naked in the middle of a snow-covered meadow, with not a blanked or
warm fire in sight. No... No please! Give
me anyone but him...
Bracing herself, she still could not hold back a
shudder as her shoulder was caught in a vice-like grip. Long fingers digging
into her flesh around the strap of her dress, she felt herself being swung
round to face her nightmare. His eyes were like steel, yet that familiar,
annoying smirk was hanging about his mouth, ever mocking, ever daring.

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>"Where are
they?"

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>Perplexed by this
unusual question, Hermione stared back at her professor, trying to ease some of
the tension in her limbs. If only he'd
let go of me...

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>"W-what?"

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>"I said: where
are they? Miss Granger, does being on holiday render you dumber than
usual?"

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>Eyebrows raised at
the insult, Hermione felt some of her confidence seep back into her pose. Tearing
herself out of Snape's grip, she took a few steps back. Surprisingly, he let
her, his smirk now more of a leer.

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>"I really don't
know what you're talking about. There's no one here but me."

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>Aware that she was
incriminating herself for Jack's deed, she felt no remorse. No way was she ever
letting that nefarious bat near her sweet little neighbours! Folding her arms
on her chest, she stuck her chin up almost unconsciously, adopting her usual
'Malfoy attitude', disgust written all over her face. Snape may be her teacher,
but she felt no respect for him, not with the way he treated Harry... and
herself.

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>"I'm asking
this one last time, Granger. Where are Potter and Weasley?"

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

Ha! I should have known, she groaned inwardly. Why else would he
attack her like that? Weren't they supposed to behave civilly between
soon-to-be colleagues? After all, she was joining the Order on the 31st,
when Harry finally turned 17.

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>"Harry and Ron
aren't here. Don't you think me capable of throwing a stone all by myself?"

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>The dirty look he
threw her clearly indicated he had not, up until this very minute. Sensing
things were about to get foul, Hermione stepped back a little further. This
time, Snape followed her movement, arm half stretched out as though to grab her
again.

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>"What are you
going to do? Give me a hundred detentions? We're on holiday... you can't punish
me," snapped Hermione, with more confidence than she possessed.

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

Why are you acting like this? He's a teacher! Of course he can punish
you!
Sudden worry flooded through her, as the thought of him telling
Dumbledore about her unexpected juvenile delinquent behaviour dawned on her. After
all, the headmaster might still be deciding who to appoint Head Girl... if the
position went to Parkinson because of this silly incident, she would never
forgive herself.

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>"True... too
true. Once again, the insufferable Know-It-All has proved herself superior to
the incompetent professor. Alright then..."

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>It was with alarming
indifference that he pronounced those words, retreating slowly towards the
house, his eternal smirk of impeding doom back in its usual place. style='mso-bidi-font-style:normal'>What??? thought Hermione, unnerved by his
sudden withdrawal. This can't be happening...
He was letting her go? She couldn't believe it! But that sneer... what did it
mean, this time? Feeling slightly guilty at her outburst, she mumbled:

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>"I'll give you
the money to pay for the broken window-"

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>"There'll be no
need for that," he interrupted her. "Everyone makes mistakes. Let's
just hope you learn from this one in due time..."

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>Upon that last
mystical phrase, he turned his back on her, cloak billowing even with the
absence of wind, and set off up his front path, disappearing swiftly into the shadowy
house. Left standing there, Hermione could only stare after him. style='mso-bidi-font-style:normal'>What was all that about? Shaking herself
slightly, she began backing away from the building, which seemed no different
than before. Only now, as she thought of its inhabitant, it spooked her even
more. What did he hide in there? Pushing all curiosity to the back of her mind,
Hermione turned round and headed off home, marvelling that she had got away
quite unscathed. How wrong she was to be proved...

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

style='font-family:"Book Antiqua";mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>

A/N: Short again and not much happening yet, but this
means I update sooner. The chapters will probably grow longer as the story
unfolds. Hope you liked it!!! Please tell me what you thought, it really
helps!!
