Chapter 2....Best Forgotten.

Hermione woke when the first rays of sunlight reached her. She opened her eyes and the memories of the day before flooded into her mind. She looked at the man sleeping beside her and was horrified. He already hated her, what would he think of her now? She knew what she had to do, she carefully slipped out of the bed and went in search of her wand. She found it amongst the tattered remains of her clothes. She walked back to the sleeping man and raised her wand, \'Obliverate,\' she whispered, he would remember nothing of the night before. She quickly walked through his rooms gathering all evidence of her presence there the night before. She found a jar of floo powder beside the fireplace, and, grabbing a pinch, threw it into the flames and whispered, \'Head Girls room,\' she looked back briefly before stepping into the flames and disappearing.
Back in her rooms she looked around, everything was as she had left it, but it felt different. \'No,\' she thought, \'the room is not different, I am.\' She sat down on her bed and began to softly cry. As her sobs began to ease, she looked at the pile of rags that lay near the fireplace where she had dropped them, using her wand, she gathered them up, flung them in the fireplace and set them alight. she realised then that she was still wearing his shirt, she was tempted to send it to the fireplace too, but changed her mind, it still held his scent, and it was a confort to her. She curled herself up under her covers and fell asleep again, deeply breathing in his comforting masculan scent.
It was nearly lunch time when she woke again, and she realised how hungry she was. She took off his shirt, folded it carfully and with one last smell, she placed it under her pillow before heading for a shower. She scrubbed herself almost raw under the steaming shower, she knew she would never feel clean again. She dressed carfully and modestly in her baggiest pair of jeans and sweatshirt. she looked at herself as she pulled her unruly hair back into a ponytail. all emotions shut down then, a wall went up around her very soul. She stood straight and looked at herself, noone would seee her pain, noone would see any emotion from her again. She left her room and headed to the Great Hall for lunch.
Harry rushed to greet her as she entered, \'Hermione, are you alright, we were worried about you.\' She flinched when he tried to embrace her,\'I\'m fine Harry, I just lost tract of time when I was down by the lake. Professor Snape found me and sent me back to my room. As you can see, I am perfectly OK.\' She sat down and started piling food on her plate, suddenly she was famished. Harry lookked at her skeptically, \'Yes, she looked Ok, but something didn\'t seem right.\' he kept his thoghts to himself and sat down beside her and started on his own meal. At the Slytherin table Malfoy smirked as he leaned over and spoke to Crabbe and Goyle. They looked over and Hermione and smirked. \'So the perfect little mudblood hadn\'t told anyone,\' Malfoy thought, \'And if she\'s smart she won\'t, or things would only get worse for her.\' Hermione saw Malfoy\'s smirk, but showed no emotions, \'You will get yours,\' she thought, before turning back to her meal.
At the Head Table, Dumbledore watched the Head Girl carefully before leaning towards the Potions Master and asking, \'How was Miss Granger when you found her by the lake last night?\' Snape looked confused, he had no memory of finding her but wasn\'t about to tell the Headmaster this as he obviously thought otherwise. He looked at the Gryffindor, she looked no worse for wear, \'She was fine,\' he lied, \'I simply sent her back to her room after berating her for worrying everyone.\' He looked back at the Head Girl, somehow she looked different, but her couldn\'t quite place what exactly was different. \'Why couldn\'t he remember the previous night,\' he wondered, \'had he really been that tired?\' He decided it didn\'t matter, she was obviously safe and well, but why dis his emotions suddenly feel so raw when he looked at the girl. He looked at her again then corrected himself, \'No, not a girl, an attractive young woman,\' where had that thought come from, he wondered.
