Draco Fears Nothing
2
The next day was horrid for Draco. He hadn't slept at all the night before. All he kept thinking was that he would soon be showing Harry his worst fear. He had dark circles under his eyes and was unusually quiet in potions. Pansy, Crabbe and Goyle must have decided to keep their distance because Harry had noticed he sat alone.
When it came time for Xaivier's class, Harry and Draco decided to go ahead and walk together. Of course, students noticed this and watched them both. Draco would have said a snide comment but realized he was still too focused on what was going to occur in just mere minutes.

When they reached the door, Draco had stopped. Harry stared at him quietly as Draco stood there, eyes closed, sighing. If one looked close enough, thry'd see the sweat that began to bead on his forehead. Draco seemed to be making a decision on what to do. The blonde gently twisted the knob and entered, Harry followed close behind him.
"Good afternoon, boys. Are you both prepared for today?" Xaivier asked, taking the same spot as he did the day before, the center of the room. Once he had stopped he motined for the boys to be seated. Harry had followed instructions but Draco stood frozen, looking at a very fine crack in the plain wood floor.
Harry didn't notice until he had sat down. The professor had though, but he was unsure of how to help. The fear he had felt yesterday was there, except now it was much, much worse. "Draco, are you alright?" The bald man asked quietly, looking at Harry as if he might have been the cause of this. When Draco didn't respond and continued to stare at the floor, the professor decided that Plan b, was in order.
**Harry, can you hear my thoughts? You don't need to answer me with your voice, just think your response and I shall know it** This was the most stunning thing Harry had expirenced since witnessing Voldemort's return. **Y-y-y-yes** Harry's thoughts stammered. The Professor chuckled. **No need to be frightened, I won't harm you, but I need a favor.**
Harry quickly responded. **What do you need?** Honestly curious.
**It seems Mister Malfoy is quite frightened, I need you to reach him** Harry bit back a laugh, he knew it was mean, but it was funny. **Can you give me an idea of what it is he's frightened of?** Still fighting laughter. He suddenly stopped when a great since of fear and dread washed over him, so strong it burned.
**That's him?!** Harry asked in strong disbelief. Xaivier nodded and Harry decided to see if he could help. He had understood fear like this, atleast, in part. It was the intensity of his feeling towards Dementors.
"Draco?" Harry said softly, not even batting an eye at the fact he'd just used his enemy's first name. He stood infront of the young man who still stared at the floor. It was awkward, Draco being so dejected and sorrowful, much like a small child. Harry softly spoke and brought Draco's eyes to meet his.
"Draco, I know you're afraid. I was too. Ummmm....but we have to trust eachother. Nothing I see in your head will leave my lips to anyone, I promise." Draco looked up obvious tears in his eyes. "I don't want to see, I don...see...scared." Draco was shaking now. Harry had wrapped his arms around him out of instinct and told him, "You can trust me Draco, I'll be right with you."
The two boys, with Harry quietly coaxing Draco, came and sat down on either side of the Professor's wheelchair. **Ready as we'll ever be Professor.** Harry sighed as he prepared for the most unusual journey that he was most sure wouldn't be good in any way.

Inside Draco's mind was completely different than that if Harry's. Rather than a hallway, there were several flat stone pathways like a stone path that would lead up to a door. In Draco's mind however, these pathways let to flat windows that appeared to show memories. Along the main path on either side of them was lava, or atleast that's what Harry considered it.
"It appears," Professor Xaivier said suddenly snapping Harry out of his wondering thoughts and considerations. "That Mister Malfoy is not with us. He is a prisoner in his own mind." Harry thought about this a second. "Some kind of mind control, although I felt it cracking yesterday while we journeyed through your head, Mister Potter." The professor who was still bound to his weelchair, motioned for them to continue down the main path to a short staircase.
"Draco, can you hear us? Where are you?" Xaivier said loudly. Harry froze when a distorted Draco Malfoy answered him. "I am all alone, Mom, Dad, where are you? Someone help me!" It sounded as though it was shouted through water. Harry jumped and almost fell but regained his balance before falling into a lava pool.
They continued and Draco's desprate cries continued with them. Harry didn't ask where they were going because it looked like the Professor was concentrating very hard. When the he had abruptly stopped Harry had almost taking another fall, but again, he quickly regained his feet.
"It's through that door." The Proffesor whispered and pointed ahead. "You'll have to go in alone, I have to remain here and keep the door open for your return." As he said this, Harry heard the lock click and the door swung open.
Harry approached it quietly and cautiously. 'It is utterly black in there.' He thoght and almost Imeadiately he heard Xaivier say, **Make a light, your thoughts here as good as happen, within reason of course**
Harry imagined a lantern and to his surprise, one appeared in his right hand. With a cautious look back at the Professor he took his first steps into the completely dark room. Surveying it with the lantern every few steps, he started to call out.
"Draco, where are you? Come here to my light, I will bring you out." He took several more steps and the darkness surrounded him as the light from the door didn't seem to reach any more. He called out a few more times and was just about to give up, when he tripped over something. 'Curse my feet damn them' he thought angrily. Then he realized what, or who rather it was he had tripped on.
Draco's body lay curled in the fetal position and Harry could barely make out his soft words. "Please......please..don't leave me...I'm sorry." Harry had heard it and bit back a small cry of empathy. Scooping up Draco's form he carried the boy toward the door.
When they had emerged the Professor looked exhausted. Harry's eyes were apologetic and he quickly set Draco's body down. Draco stood up and smiled at him. "Thank you, now I can set some of this mess right." This Draco seemed fairly excited. "I'll need you to stay with him." Draco said in a half fearful tone. "Fixing a mind is excrutiatingly long and painful." He said in a huff, bitterness quite evident. "He'll still be the same person, but things will be much clearer for him. Can you stay with him, Harry Potter?" "I promised I would and I didn't lie." Harry choked. He couldn't believe this, it didn't make a damn bit of sense.
~~~~
When Harry came back to his senses, he instanly went to Draco and grbbed him up in his arms. Draco let silent tears fall. As Harry rocked him he heard Draco say "My light, My light." He just rubbed the boy's back and sat silent.
He noticed that the Professor had chhosen to leave and that made things a bit more comfortable. Also, having been their last class for the day, it meant Draco didn't have to pull himself together right away. From what Draco's mind form had told him, that would be a while.
~~~~
When it became possible, Harry had decided to move to Hermione's prefect quarters. It had taken explaining the days events in great detail for them to agree and Harry couldn't believe that even that had done it. Ron's agreement scared him the most because it was so geniune and quiet.
Hermione had almost cried after Harry had explained finding Malfoy's body in the completely dark room. He'd kept what Malfoy had been saying when he found him a secret. The coming days would bring about change and Harry hoped, above all else, the boy laying on the bed would be ready for it.
