A/N: I forgot the disclaimer in the first chapter so here it is. I own nothing, it all belongs to J.K., except for the challenge, that belongs to Dahlias. I am making no money from this, I do it for my own pleasure.

Thank you to Tarallynne for her wonderful betaing.

Chapter 2

Severus walked quickly to the end of the anti-apparation wards and disapperated with a pop. He reappeared at the apparation point in a back room of the Leaky Cauldron. He walked to the bar and waited for Tom to acknowledge him.

“Professor Snape, what can I do for you?” he asked the dark clad, imposing man.

Severus leaned forward and spoke quietly, “I am here at the request of Harry Potter. Where can I find him?”

Tom motioned for him to follow, and led him to a locknd wnd warded private room. “I warded the room and put up a silencing charm. It would be a tragedy if one of the remaining Death Eaters got the young man after he defeated He-who-must-not-be-named.”

With a jab of his wand, Severus opened the door. “Could you have dinner brought here? I’m sure that he needs to eat, and I missed dinner.”

“Right away,” Tom said as he shuffled off.

He closed the door behind himself, and re-warded the room.

“Thank you for coming, sir,” Harry said. He stared at his potions professor for a long minute, “I didn’t trust Professor Dumbledore with this,” he stated.

“Why me, Mr. Potter? Why not your godfather or the werewolf?” he asked.

Harry sighed, “Sirius and Remus are on their honeymoon. If they had been around I never would have had to go to the Dursley’s. I never would have found out about baby Serena,” he explained.

“Who, may I ask is baby Serena?” Severus snarled.

Harry offered a bundle of blankets to the older man. “This is baby Serena.” Severus took the baby, “She is the daughter of my muggle cousin Dudley and a witch that was killed before I defeated Voldemort,” he said.

Severus grunted and unwrapped the small girl. He waved his wand over her, “Her mother was Hannah Marcus, a seventh year Hufflepuff. She was killed the day you destroyed the Dark Lord. She and her family were his last victims,” he explained. “How is it that you have her?” he asked.

With a pop, the table was covered with platters of food, Tea, and two bottles of butterbeer. Severus transfigured the chair next to him into a cot, and lay the sleeping baby down. As the two wizards ate, Harry told him what had happened at the Dursley’s. Severus stopped him several times to clarify things that he didn’t quite understand.

“Why didn’t you want to go to the Headmaster with this?” he asked.

Harry ran a hand through his unruly hair, “Because he would insist that I send her to an orphanage.” He looked across the table at the man that had stood at his side during the final battle, pleading with his eyes for the man to understand. “I have lived with the Dursleys since I was a year old, and they were never like family to me. All I have ever wanted is a family, people that love me for who I am. I have that chance with Serena, she needs me as much as I need her.”

Severus watched the play of emotion on the young man’s face, “What do you need from me?” he asked.

Harry let out a relieved breath, “I’m going to rent a hotel room in muggle London until school starts, and I need wards on it so that the Death Eaters will not be able to find us.”

Severus sat in silence for a few minutes. “Are you sure that is a good idea? I’m sure that Albus will be searching for you once he finds out that you are no longer with your relatives.”

“I don’t know what else to do,” Harry said. “I don’t want to endanger the Weasleys by going there. Mrs. Weasley was my first thought, but after losing Mr. Weasley during the final battle I didn’t think that I should impose on her. It’s my fault that he died,” he exclaimed.

Severus looked at him, “Potter, Arthur Weasley died because Voldemort used the killing curse.”

“It was aimed at me,” he choked out. “If I hadn’t thrown myself down, Mr. Weasley would still be working at the ministry and collecting plugs.”

“Gather your things,” Severus told him. “It is unsafe for you to stay anywhere tonight that doesn’t have wards.” He stood and walked toward the door. “I will take you to Snape Manor, you may stay there until we figure out where to send you.”

Harry dropped the bag he was holding, “I don’t want to be any trouble,” he started.

“Do not worry about it, Mr. Potter. You will be staying at the manor with Mr. Malfoy. Since his father is on the run from the ministry and Voldemort killed his mother, he is in as much danger as you are. If he had not seen the error of following the Dark Lord, he would either be dead, on the run, or in Azkaban.” Severus waved his wand at the door, “As soon as I take care of paying Tom for dinner, I will return and we will floo to the Manor,” he said. “Please try to get along with Mr. Malfoy, I would like to keep my home standing for as long as possible.”
