Tomorrow's Another Day
Chapter 2
Tomorrows another day
Absentmindedly stirring a potion in his lab. Having some extra time to replace one of the damaged potions. And not for the first time today had Severus contemplating the events of yesterday. How could she have been thinking of me and had that glorious orgasm. Him the big-nosed, greasy haired git, overgrown bat. Chuckling to himself, little did everyone know how close that assumption of him was, he having one quarter vampire blood running through his veins, a very guarded family secret. An ancient relative of his that had turned vampire had discovered a potion to counter the effects and return back to the mortal world. But not without retaining some of the characteristics of the vampire. Which in all truth came in handy at most times. He did not have to feed and take blood, although as a Death Eater he had felt an urge and a fascination with the blood at revels but had later disgusted him. Sometimes, in emotional or passionate situations he would feel his canine teeth tingle and want to grow, but he had never taken blood and really had no need to. One reason why he chose to remain celibate, looks and attitude notwithstanding, was when he was on the verge of his climax during sex; he would have to fight the urge to sink his teeth into his lover’s neck, not for nourishment but more from need. It actually frightened him.
His taint of vampirism running through him was the main reason he was so skilled at Occlumency and Legilimency, it just came naturally for him.
He could be in direct sunlight, but not for long periods of time, which is why his skin was so pale and was suited to live in the dungeons, his personal crypt. For long jaunts outside he needed a potion to counter effect the damage of the sun.
The only other people besides himself and his family that knew of his secret were Albus, Minerva and of course Remus, He had disclosed to Lupin once, while Remus was having a breakdown over his lycanthropy, that he also carried in his blood an abomination that he had to use potions to control. He thought back to when Remus, after his comment of his lycanthropy when he had taken over the DADA class had in return made a comment about his vampirism. The idiot he thought. Don’t know why I continue to brew his potion. But deep down he did know, because he could relate.
Just then there was a knock on the door. “Enter” he said.
And in walked the headmaster. “Hello Severus, I trust everything went well the other day? Were you able to discern if Ms. Granger is headed for trouble in her choices of music and not leading her down the path of darkness?”
Surprised that Ms. Granger hadn’t run to the headmaster to inform him his professor had been spying on a student. Tried to decide how much he should disclose what had happened. Not wanting to inform the headmaster of her activities after her dance.
“I would not say it went well, Albus. I went over the lyricgraph afterwards and personally I don’t think, we need to worry over the music, although it was somewhat dark and disturbing. But as I was getting ready to leave I had thought I had placed the lyricgraph securely in my pocket only to have it slip out and clatter across the floor when I moved, out of my range of invisibility. “
“Oh dear said Albus, then I assume she found out you where there then?”
“You would be correct. She at first thought I was Potter and Weasley playing a joke. So as not to panic her I revealed myself and tried to explain, although she would not let me and stormed off.”
Albus had the feeling his potions master was leaving something out, but decided not to press the issue.
“Well Severus, I think the best thing to be done now, would be to tell her the truth of why we felt the need to do what we did. Most unfortunate but nothing to be done about it now. It was really her best interest we had at heart. I trust you will try to be understanding when you explain why we did what we thought we had to”
“Good day Severus.” And Albus had gone.
Leaving a once again flabbergasted Severus Snape looking after him. “ How the hell does he do that? This fiasco was the headmasters brilliant plan not his, why should he be the one to speak to her?” Scowling he returned to finish his potion.
Hermione Granger sat in her Head girls room, her cheeks reddening for thedreddredth time, thinking over what happened the other day. *My Gods how embarrassing to be caught “doing that” by him of all people.* And at the time was thinking of him doing wicked things to her, as he sat watching not ten feet away. What must he think of her? What must he think of what she had said to him? He was probably repulsed she thought. How will I face him after this? Thoughts were running rampant through her head. And why didn’t I let him explain why he was there in the first place?
She was so horrified and angry over her discovering him there, the object of her affections, that she just wanted to escape, but not before she had let that little comment fly about dreaming of him. She couldn’t believe she had said it, but oh did it feel good, and the look on his face was priceless, she had caught a glimpse on her way out of her room. And what was that shiny metal object she handed back to him?.....
Suddenly there was a knock on her window, she walked over, opened it and in flew an owl. She grabbed an owl treat, took the missive off his leg and opened it. It read:
Ms. Granger you are to report to my office at 8:00 pm sharp, do not be late. We need to discuss the events that took place the other day. Signed Professor Severus Snape.
*Oh dear* she had to face him this soon. Looking to the clock to see it was already 6:30 pm, She tried to pass the time reading, but was proving to be difficult, her mind just continued to replay the situation.
At 7:45, Hermione nervously started to make her way to the dungeons. Pausing with her hand above the door, ready to knock but wanting to run and hide. She heard “Enter.”
“Professor...sir? She said, steeping into the room. Professor Snape was seated at his desk head down correcting papers or something. She came and stood in front of his desk. “Sit Granger” she turned around to sit in one of the chairs there and refused to bring her eyes to look at him. Instead she seemed intent on studying her hands. She could feel his gaze scrutinizing her, was most nerve-racking. He didn’t say a word and uncomfortable moments came to pass, she finally ventured a look at up at him. She drew in a small breath when her eyes met his, those dark intense orbs. Anytime she looked directly into them, she felt as if a punch to her stomach that shot right to the core of her. Gathering up her Gryffindor courage she finally asked “Sir about yesterday...what was that shiny metal object?
Was the first thing she blurted out.
She watched as he folded his hands together, those gorgeous long fingers entwining together slowly making a steeple in front of his face as he looked over his hands and said. “Ms. Granger, the headmaster thought it was of importance to analyze the content of your choice in musical lyrics. Your music was over heard the other day by an entity who thought you might turn to the dark side after being constantly influenced by it. The headmaster thought it prudent that I should be the one to do the monitoring, spying if you will, considering my background and expertise in these matters.” She knew that he used to be a death eater and spy from what Harry had told her, and couldn’t fight the logic there. “But sir. There is no need for concern over my choice in music. True it is sometimes dark and I could see why some would think it is inappropriate but truly it mostly is a release for me. I let my tensions and troubles flow out with the music, I assure you it will definitely not lead me down the path to darkness.”
“As for the “metal object” he interjected, it is what is called a lyricgraph that I used to record the lyrics to your music, for later analyses.” “Oh thank gods” Hermione thought. After returning to her room and thinking of what the object could have been. The first thought to pop into her head was that the thing had to be some sort of magical picture taking device maybe like a wizards version of a camcorder or something. She didn’t want to think of her dream Snape being the sort of wizard who took pictures of students in compromising positions.
“What is it that fascinates you about these lyrics then, Ms. Granger?”
“Actually sir the lyrics from that album are from a favorite muggle movie of mine about vampires, they fascinate me.”
“Indeed” he said lifting an eyebrow. *Most interesting*he thought.
“As for your little performance afterwards we will just pretend like it didn’t happen, I assure you I had not anticipated that to happen and do apologize for the intrusion on your privacy.” He watched as she turned five shades of red. Was actually quite endearing he thought.
“Enough said Ms. Granger, you may return to your rooms.”
Feeling a little more brave than when she first entered the room, she stood and said “ Professor in the future if there is ever a need to spy on me for anything I would appreciate being asked first before you needing to resort to that level.”
The chit, who did she think she was talking too? “Ten points for your cheek Ms. Granger.”
“What? You can’t do that?” She exclaimed.
“Oh. I assure you I can and will, he said in that silky smooth voice, and for your impertinence you will now be serving detention in the potions lab tomorrow night at 8:00.”
“But...She tried to say something to her defense only to have him cut her off.
He lifted a brow and looked sideways at her.” Would you like me to deduct twenty more Ms. Granger?”
“No sir.. She said and quickly left.
He smirked after she had gone, it was so much fun to rile up this particular Gryffindor. It was too easy almost. He thought she looked beautiful the way her eyes flashed her anger at him for his unfairness. And was pleased that he now didn’t have to worry about replacing those ruined potions himself.
Hermione made it back to her room fuming over the injustice of it all. That bastard, she thought. She didn’t think she deserved a detention for speaking her mind under the circumstances. He could be so infuriating at times. She really didn’t know why she was so attracted to him at moments like these. He made her blood boil. Just once she would love to see the walls he had around him come down, see him lose control, he always had to be in control and see a human side to Severus Snape.
Maybe she could have a little fun with him tomorrow night, she thought. I mean he has already seen me naked. And looking back at their discussion he didn’t seem repulsed by what had happened. He had even gone so far as to apologize which was a miracle in itself. And Snape made no mention of her confession that it was him she had thought about in her fantasy. Maybe I could try to shake that iron will control of his? Get a reaction out of him for once. Make him see her as a woman. Make her fantasy a reality?
Smiling to herself she settled in for the night.
