The Seed of Doubt
-------------------

A week went by in the first semester of the new school year at Hogwarts without any mishaps and the new professor, Professor Stoker, has actually worked out quite well as the three most famous Gryphindors have come to realize.

“It\'s odd, she looks like Snape but she doesn\'t act at all like him.” Said Harry as they were exiting from the DADA classroom.

“Well she doesn\'t put us down every time we do a little thing wrong and she doesn\'t favor Slytherin, so yeah I would have to agree. She could lighten up on the homework though.” laughed Ron.

“I think she\'s great and I\'m very glad to finally have a professor that can really challenge us with the work.” Hermione replied.

“How did I know you were going to say something like that. Well to us NORMAL people, Professor Stoker is still quite hard.” Ron retorted with a bit of a sneer.

Just then Ron felt a flick on the back of his head and turned around to see Professor Stoker laughing behind him.

“Oh come on, I can\'t be that bad can I?” Stoker laughed.

“No, not at all. In fact I was meaning to ask you if you were considering having us write an essay on the Tibetan Dwarves this week, because I had already done one over summer break as a fun project.” asked Hermione.

“Well, I don\'t think I\'ll be adding that assignment on this week Hermione but I think if you turn it in to be before Friday I could arrange for some extra credit.” Said Stoker quite impressed.

“Wow, extra credit you really aren\'t like Professor Snape at all. He calls extra credit “Academic Welfare”. “ Laughed Ron.

“Thanks, I think. Well I had better be off, I have a lot to do. Are you kids going to the Gryphindor/ Slytherin Quid ditch match tonight?” asked Stoker.

“Of course! Harry here is the seeker for our team!” cried Ron.

“Oh really Harry? That\'s quite an accomplishment. What house are you playing for again, dear?” asked Stoker.

Harry turned a slight shade of red and replied, “Gryphindor, ahem maim”

“Well, then I\'ll be sure to root for Gryphindor tonight. good luck.” Stoker said as she turned around and walked down the hall toward the dungeon with her black duster billowing behind her.

“I think Harry fancies Professor Stoker, don\'t you Ron?” teased Hermione.

“Well he did turn a shade when she called him dear.” laughed Ron.

“Oh shut it you two. We\'ve got to hurry, Transfiguration starts in a couple of minutes.” Harry said trying to dodge their inquiries. The three students then ran toward the stairs to get to their class.

Professor Stoker was booking it down the hallway towards the dungeon when she turned the corner and collided with Professor Snape causing papers and books to fly everywhere.

“You miserable, idiotic dunderheaded...” Snape started before he looked up and saw Professor Stoker, “Oh, it\'s you.”

“Weren\'t you going to finish your clever little rant?” snapped Stoker as she was crawling on the ground to collect her things.

“No, I find it rude to insult a colleague and you too I suppose.” replied Snape as he too was crawling around on the ground to collect his books.

“Ah always the beacon of light in my day.” said Stoker as she stood up with her books in hand.

“I try. I trust you will be at the Quid ditch match tonight even though they couldn\'t arrange a laser light show for your arrival.” said Snape with a slight smile.

“Oh darn, I guess I\'ll have to resort to frightening all the children on my way in unless you have a monopoly on it. But yes, I will be there I did make a promise to the Potter boy that I\'ll be cheering for him tonight.” Stoker said with a slight smile of her own.

“Cheering for Gryphindor hmm? Well that would figure wouldn\'t it? I will see you there then but you might not see me all the way over on the winning end of the field.” Said Snape as he walked away from her and up the hall towards the Potions classroom.

Stoker flipped him off when his back was turned and went around the corner to her office. Her heart was racing and her mind was spinniHer Her face had turned hot as well and her hands felt sweaty. “Well,” she thought “I must really hate that man, or..” She tried to shove the thought out of her mind before it had a chance to materialize but to no avail. “I don\'t like Severus, listen to how he speaks to you and how you speak to him. He obviously hates you as well. Don\'t even think that way it\'s disturbing. He is kind of hot though with that black vest and.. AHHH hot? how old are you? This guy is an asshole and you hate him now get back to work!” With that Professor Stoker finally sat down to grade the pile of scrolls she had on her desk.

Meanwhile up the Dungeon hallway Snape was mulling over their recent rendezvous. “I got her pretty good that time. I will have to stop bringing up the big arrival thing or I\'ll sound obsessed.” He walked faster up the hall as he thought about it more. He hadn\'t felt thisve ive in years and he even had a bit of a smile on his face as he was trouncing up the hall as Professor Dumbledore noticed as Snape passed him without realizing it.

“It\'s nice to see you in such a good mood.” Said Dumbledore when Snape passed by.

Dumbledore\'s comment startled Snape as he didn\'t realize the headmaster was even there.

“Oh uh, what?” said Snape in a rare instance of confusion.

“I said that it was nice to see you in a good mood but you seemed to be daydreaming when I said it.” said Dumbledore with a smile.

“My deepest apologies Headmaster, I was in deep thought about something and didn\'t mean to ignore you.” Said Snape.

“Well whatever it was, it sure gave you a pleasant disposition. I\'ll let you get back on your way, professor. good bye.” Dumbledore said as he made a slight bow and walked toward the exit that led to Hagrid\'s hut.

Snape went on his way to the Potions class rather puzzled about what Dumbledore said to him. “Smiling? Was I smiling? But I was thinkiboutbout Kali, I couldn\'t of been smiling. Oh it\'s Kali noh? Wh? When did that happen? You don\'t think that you actually.... no, not at all I don\'t like anyone. I\'m above those childish thoughts now get serious, class is starting in a minute.” Snape waved the thought away just before he entered his classroom.
