Chapter 2

Harry woke up the next morning groaning. His whole body ached and his head felt like it was being split in two. When he attempted to open his eyes he realized that even the dim light was much too bright and went to cover his eyes with his arm. Wait a second. He couldn’t move his arm, something was on top of it. At that moment that something let out a groan and rolled over, freeing Harry’s arm. Harry quickly ran through the events of the previous night and sat straight up when he realized who was sleeping next to him.

Lying next to him was Draco Malfoy, his almost silvery-blond hair was rumpled and his face held none of it’s usual arrogance. He looks cute like that, Harry thought. But just as he was about to scold himself for such thoughts he remembered his thoughts of Draco from the previous night, the two of them kissing passionately. And felt a blush creep up to his cheeks as he remembered how aroused it had made him.

Next to him, Draco’s eyes fluttered open and when he saw Potter staring down at him he also sat up. Perhaps too quickly, Draco groaned, he felt dizzy. Harry reach a hand out to Draco’s shoulder to steady him.

“Are you okay?” Harry asked, concern written over his face.

Draco smirked softly, “Well, I’ve felt better.” He said, digging through his pant pockets, eventually pulling out his wand. Hw few fear flicker across Potter’s face and chuckled, “Don’t worry Potter, I’m not going to hex you.”

But before Harry could protest that he wasn’t afraid Draco started mumbling a spell. Draco tapped himself on the forehead and then did the same to Harry. Harry instantly felt better.

“What was that?” Harry asked, amazed.

“A handy little spell, it relieves hangovers,” Draco said putting his wand away.

“You’ll have to teach me someday,” Harry said, realizing by saying this he was subtly asking for Draco’s friendship.

Draco looked at Harry for a few moments, he could easily make some smart remark and everything would go back to normal. He and Potter could go back to hating each other, but as much as he wanted to keep things simple he remembered how handsome Harry had looked last night and how nice it had felt to get along with him. He would probably never have this chance again. “Sure, Potter” he responded, but his voice held none of it’s usual malice.

Harry smiled shyly staring down at the bed. “And thanks, Malfoy, for last night. You could have left me, you probably should have left me, and you didn’t.”

Draco rolled his eyes and smiled, “I told you last night it was no problem, just don’t go spreading it around. I have a reputation to uphold you know.”

Harry smiled back, “It was pretty un-Slytherin, of you. And smiling? God forbid if anyone found out that Draco Malfoy could smile.” Harry teased.

Harry watched as Draco’s porcelain skin turned a light shade of pink and he attempted to glare at him. Oh God, he looks cute when he’s embarrassed, Harry thought, knowing Draco wasn’t really angry.

After they had both magicked themselves clean, they headed down to the Great Hall for breakfast.

“Have a good Christmas, Draco” Harry said before entering the Great Hall.

“You too, Harry” Draco replied. He waited a few minutes then walked in to join his own table.

When Harry reached his table Ron and Hermione were ecstatic to see him.

“Where were you Harry?” Hermione exclaimed, “We thought you had been caught. When the teachers burst in we tried to find you but it was chaos and we just hoped you made it out without being ca-.”

“Hermione” Harry cut it, “I got away last night, I’m fine.” Harry assured her.

“Well, I am glad Harry” Hermione replied, realizing she had been rambling. “But how did you get away?”

“Err...” Harry couldn’t tell them the truth, Harry had sensed that Draco was only half-joking about having a reputation to uphold. Harry thought fast. “Well, I just ran, and eventually I found an empty closet. I don’t remember much, but I guess I was just lucky, I passed out in there and woke up this morning.”

“Wow, You were lucky Harry” Ron said looking slightly amazed. “I heard that they searchedrywhrywhere. And worse than that if you were caught, they sent owls home informing your parents and gave you a month’s worth of detention”

“Well, I guess I just picked the right closet.” Harry joked, trying to make light of the situation. But he could see Hermione was looking at him suspiciously. Ugh, why does she have to be so smart? Harry thought as he looked down and focused on eating his breakfast.

Draco faced a similar reaction from his table. They were all afraid he had been caught, Pansy in particular had latched onto him and refused to let go.

“Of course, I didn’t get caught,” Draco scoffed, “Who do you think I am?”

“We were just so worried for you, Draky,” Pansy crooned while stroking his face. Didn’t she ever get the hint that he wasn’t interested in her?

“Well, I am fine.” Draco said shaking her off, “And if you don’t mind I would like to eat my breakfast in peace.”

Pansy pouted a Draco’s rejection, but Draco ignored her, thinking only of Harry’s emerald eyes. Harry Potter had spent the night in his bed. Too bad it wasn’t for other reasons, Draco mentally smirked. Across from him, Goyle was bragging about how almost all of the Slytherin had gotten back to their beds without being caught. And Pansy was going on and on about how she couldn’t wait to go home this afternoon and what she expected to get for Christmas. Idiots, Draco thought looking up towards the Gryfinndor table. He was surprised to see a pair of emerald eyes looking back into his eyes.

Harry watched as Draco smirked and rolled his gray eyes. He didn’t look like he was having a good time over there. Harry grinned back at him and gave him a sympathizing look.

God, he’s cute, both boys thought, and continued eating their breakfast.
