Chapter Two
Black cloak ... Black eye... Black lipstick?...
The screeching of the brakes woke Harry up, at first he thought it was one of Petunia's screams, but to his surprise and delight it was only the train. He slowly sat up and groaned, looking around himself in a moment of laziness and stands. He looked down at the cloak that slid down his body in confusion, slowly bending down to pick it up.
"Ron must have put it on me..." He thought to himself, but as he moved the cloak around in his hands the Slytherin emblem came into view.
"Who do I know in Slytherin that would keep me warm...... hmm... Malfoy!" Harry looked at the cloak in his hands and shook his head. Sure he and Malfoy were talking before but Harry had watched him leave... unless he came back?... Harry shook his head and folded the cloak up in his arms and headed off the train. He was the last one off and hurried to catch up to the rest of the group. He sat in silence with Hermione, Ron and Neville, pondering over the Slytherin cloak under his arm.
"Oi... Earth to Harry!" some one was yelling in Harry's ear. He snapped out of it and half turned to look at Ron.
"Huh?" was Harry's brilliant retort.
"Have you even been listening to us?" at Harry's small blush Hermione rolled her eyes. She moved some hair away from her face with a small sigh.
"I hope Snape's a little bit nicer this year then last year..." muttered Neville while playing with the hem of his cloak.
"Snape'll never change... Always was a greasy git always will be!" said Ron with a sigh, dreading the idea of potions class.
"Come on guys... you have to admit the fact that you learn a lot in his class... you never forget what he says!" said Hermione, trying to look on the brighter side as usual.
"We never forget anything because we know he'll give us detentions!" said Ron with a small growl, already disliking the idea of detentions.
"Or he'll yell... I hate it when he yells... and it's usually me who he yells at, it's not my fault that I can't remember half the things he says... I'm too scared to pay attention!" said Neville with a cringe. "Malfoy never gets yelled at..."
"I know Neville... its unfair really" said Hermione, glaring at the Slytherin carriage that was a few yards ahead of them
"I would pay to see Snape yell and give a detention to Malfoy!" Ron said with a large grin, imagining it in his perfect world. Harry listened to the conversation, his stomach rumbling and crying for food. It had been so long sense he had anything to eat, and the feast tonight was sure to be excellent as always. Once in the castle the all too familiar noise and smell fluttered around him, making him smile. Harry denied his stomach of food for the moment and walked swiftly towards the Gryffindor common room. He moved very quickly to his room where his luggage was already waiting for him at the foot of his bed. He quickly ruffled through his trunk and pulled out a black journal, taking a quick look around and he through the Slytherin cloak on the bed and sat down at his desk, picking a quill up.
He opened his journal to la long list that filled four pages, front to back. He dug out his wand from his robes and took the concealing charm off his eyes, not hiding the bruise anymore. He dipped his quill into the ink and wrote on a fresh line; "Left eye bruised, fresh cut on wrist, sore shoulder." He waited till the ink dried then closed the diary. He had this since the first week of summer. Every time a hand was laid on him he'd always right it down, remembering every mark, the list kept getting longer but Harry was good at keeping track at it... he was going to make Vernon pay... but for now his stomach was taking over. He paused at the door and rushed back to grab the Slytherin cloak on his bed, throwing it over his shoulder. He smiled when he heard George's and Fred's voice coming from downstairs; he headed down the stairs to the common room quickly, trying to catch them before they left for the main hall.
"Hey Fred, George, are you two heading for the main hall?" Harry asked his house mates with a grin.
"Ow mate, how'd you get that?" said Fred with a small wince.
"Yeah, you didn't have that when you got on the train!" said George, looking at his brother before looking back to Harry.
"Looks bad huh? Got it on the train, bloody seats, Hit it right on the corner!" said Harry with a small chuckle, hoping they bought his story, which the obviously did.
"We've saw that done before, you must have caught yourself pretty good!" said Fred with a laugh at Harry's clumsiness. Noticing the extra cloak over Harry's shoulder "whose cloak?"
"Oh... it's a Slytherin, found it on my way off the train, was going to go to the main hall and see who it belongs too." Fred nodded and pulled on Harry towards the entrance.
"Come on man! I'm hungry!" said George with a grin. Harry walked with George and Fred, laughing his ass off at the new ideas the two had over some new tricks and pranks. They paused at the door and peeked in, looking the room over. Harry's eyes searched the Slytherin table, realizing that his first thought about Malfoy was right.
"Look Harry, Malfoy's missing his cloak..." said Fred with a large grin.
"I guess I should go give it to him..." said Harry, watching Draco eat an apple.
"No way Harry.... Make him come to you to get it...!" said George with a grin. Harry looked at the cloak in his hand and nodded, thinking it would give him a chance to talk to Draco again. Harry smiled at the twins and headed into the main hall, his head held high like an aristocrat entering his banquet.

Draco watched as Harry and the two Wesley's entered the main hall, usually he'd have just looked away but now it was different. Harry's eyes were shinning brightly with the school spirit, his back straight with dignity. Draco's eyes traveled to the black cloak that was in his hand, the Slytherin emblem shown in all it's glory.... his emblem. Draco almost slapped his forehead, remembering that he left his cloak with Harry... not to mention over him like a blanket. Draco's silver eyes watched Harry as he sat facing him, his eyes widening at the sight of Harry's eye. "That wasn't there before" Draco thought to himself as he continued to eat, wondering if Harry was okay... then shook his head vigorously trying to get the idea in his head that he didn't care in the first place. His eyes traveled to the teachers staff table a small smile touching his lips. The new Defense against the dark arts teacher was a beauty; she wore a black and silver Victorian styled dress with black lipstick. Her golden blond hair was tied back in a braid, her glasses beside her plate on the table. He leaned over to Flint and nodded towards the teachers table.
"Hey Flint... that the Defense teacher?" Draco asked with a small smile.
"Yep! Looks like we've got something to look at in that class from now on!" said Flint, his eyes on her as well, watching as she talked to Professor McGonagall.
"What's her name?" asked Draco, his eyes traveling over to Snape and to Draco's large surprise, was watching the new teacher as well. Not with Hatred like he usually did towards the new teacher, but with something else.
"No idea.... Some of the Ravenclaws are calling her "Duvessa" or something... it means dark beauty." Flint took a drink of pumpkin juice and smiled. "That she is..."
Draco said his mind thinking on its own. "Let's see here... pale skin, very nice... looks smooth too. Beautiful long hair that's golden blond, she looks intelligent... from here she looks like she has blue eyes... very blue eyes. It seems that she likes black from her black lipstick and gown.... From the gown she has a very nice chest. Hmmm.... Very fine... but dark brown hair would be better... yeah... with really sharp eyes.... Kind of like the eyes that I'm looking at..... Oh shit...." In the middle of his thought Draco hadn't realized that his eyes traveled from this "Duvessa" to Harry's. Draco blushed soft and looked down, taking a sip to try and trying not to look back up. Draco quickly excused himself from the table and hurried out of the Main Hall, looking forward to lying down in his room and thinking. Once in the common room of Slytherin he took a deep breath and let it out slowly, laying on the leather couch and watching the ceiling, trying to figure his thoughts out. There were a few things he knew for sure after 30 minutes of watching the ceiling... He was worried about Harry's black eyes, just as much as that Granger and Weasley over it when they were... though they flocked around him asking if he was all right. He, gods help him for this but, he liked Harry's eyes. Not to mention Harry's velvety voice... and the fact that he was wondering what Harry would look like without those school robes. Draco groaned as his thoughts were interrupted by the rest of his house mates entering the common room. Draco pondered on moving upstairs where he could think alone but the thoughts of escape disappeared as Snape entered the common room, folding his arms over his chest and looking around.
"Silence..." Snapes voice rang out; it taking merely seconds to quiet down. "To the first years, welcome to Slytherin..." he paused and looked the new faces over, a small smirk on his face. "I am sure your fellow class mates will instruct you in everything you need to know." Everyone smiled at each other, Draco smirked at Snape... the one friend of his fathers that Draco liked... Godfather and mentor.
"Hey Professor Snape... Who was the female beside Professor McGonagall?" asked one of the third years somewhere behind Draco. Draco watched Snape closely as the older man shifted his weight from one foot to another... and if Draco didn't know better he'd say that there was a small blush on Snape's cheeks.
"Ah yes... she is the new Defense against the Dart Arts teacher... I heard Professor Sprout saying that her name is-"
"Duvessa!!!" yelled someone who sounded a lot like Flint. And yet again to Draco's surprise the Potions Master didn't yell back. He simply chuckled softly and smirked.
"No... not, her real name anyways.... No doubt most of you have noticed her..." his voice suddenly got hard. "You will treat her with respect... I will not have my Slytherin giving her a hard time." With that he turned, but before he could leave Draco called out.
"What's her name Professor?" Draco raised an eyebrow at Snapes Behavior. Snape stopped but didn't turn around.
"Professor Nightsong" Snape moved quickly and left the common room. Draco smiled after him, wondering why Snape.... "Oh shit...." He thought to himself and slowly stood, moving towards the door.
"Draco sweetie... where are you going?" asked Pansy from a leather chair. Her eyes were heated with lust as she watched Draco's every movement. Draco paused and sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I'm off to see one Mr. Harry Potter..."
~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harry couldn't believe his ears; McGonagall had left the common room after telling the students the name of the new Professor as well as the good news. Harry grinned to himself as he looked around his new room... McGonagall told him that two rooms were free and Dumbledore had decided to give them to the two Gryffindor with the best makes last year. Harry was delighted as he unpacked his things and falling back on his bed, remembering Hermione's and Ron's facial expressions when Harry's and hers names were called... Harry knew Ron was happy over the arrangement, as Ron whispered to Harry on his way passing "Alone Time."
Harry moved his hair out of his eyes and smiled, this being the best day sense..... Last year one would guess. He wore muggles clothes, loose fitting ones at that, wanting to be comfortable in his new bedroom. Harry lay in bed with a small smile; sleep was slowly pulling him until a sharp knock on the door brought him back to reality. Harry groaned and moved to the door, swinging it open... only to see Draco Malfoy grinning at him.
"Malfoy? Wh-what are you doing here?" Harry asked in a moment's confusion. Draco looked Harry over, for a moment thing he was cute with his cheeks slightly flushed and his hair all ruffled from what looked like sleep.
"I believe you have something that belongs to me..." said Draco, his voice calm and cool. "Yeah," thought Harry "like my heart......what a minute.... Where did THAT come from?!
"Can't you ask nicely?" asked Harry with a small sigh
"No... now... are you going to invite me into your room or do I have to force myself in?" Draco asked with a small smirk.
"Well Draco.... If you're that desperate to get into my bedroom!" Harry said with a smirk of his own and turned, leaving the door open as he walked to his cloak. Draco stepped inside completely surprised at what Harry had said; shocked that at last he had a backbone. He leaned against the door and looked Harry's room around, smiling when he realized he was in the Lions Den
