Chapter Two
..
Finally, James came to a decision. He knew that he couldn't keep his feelings from Sirius any longer. He simply had to speak with his best friend after dinner.
Nervously, James hurried out of the common room, in search of Remus, who was studying in the library. On his way, James ran into Sirius.
"James? Look, I need to ask you about something," Sirius said quietly. "Can we go somewhere and talk?"
James tugged at his hair worriedly. "Not know, Siri. I-I have something important I have to do, and I-"
"I'm not important?" Sirius asked, raising an eyebrow.
James sighed. "You know that's not what I mean, Siri! I just I really need to talk to Remus about something right now."
"Jamehis his won't take long, and I really need to talk to you about it now. See, earlier, I heard-"
"Later, Siri. Please," James interrupted. "I need to speak with you, too, but I can't right now. Can we talk after dinner?" James begged.
Sirius leaned against the and and studied his best friend curiously. "Are you all right, James? You're acting really strange."
"I'm fine," James lied. "I'm just in a hurry. We'll talk after dinner, Siri. I'll see you then," James said as he hurried down the hall, leaving a very confused Sirius Black behind him.
As soon as James entered the library, he quickly ran over to Remus and sat down across from the startled werewolf.
Remus closed his book and looked at his friend curiously.
"I'm going to tell him after dinner," James said.
"Good. The sooner the better," Remus replied as he started to open his book again.
James reached across the table and closed Remus' book. "I need your help, though, Remus."
"Why?" Remus asked warily.
James smirked. "Where should we go you know, when I tell him?"
Remus shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. Why don't you two take a walk out by the lake after you eat? You can tell him then."
James looked thoughtful and then nodded his head. He was about to say more when Sirius walked into the room and sat down in-between James and Remus.
Sirius ran his fingers through his long hair and looked at his friends. "What exactly is going on?" he asked.
"Going on?" James repeated weakly. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't give me that crap!" Sirius exclaimed. "You're acting incredibly strange, and I know that something is happening. Why won't you tell me what this is all about?"
"Sirius, this is a library, you should lower your voice," Remus said as he opened his book up again.
Sirius glared at Remus and then directed his attention back to James. "Prongs, you used to tell me everything. What is this all about? You're acting so secretive and well, just plain weird!"
"Siri, I'm not acting weird," James replied as he leabackback in his chair and tried to act normal, despite wanting to move forward and passionately kiss the hell out of his best friend. "I just can't talk to you about this. Yet, anyway. Eventually you'll know."
"So, you can tell Remus, but not me? I thought we were best friends, James!"
"She's going to kick you out if you don't whisper," Remus muttered as he turned the page.
Sirius rolled his eyes. "Moony, you worry too much. James, you-"
"I don't have to tell you everything, Sirius," James said quietly.
Sirius pushed some hair out of his eyes before replying, "I never said that you had to tell me everything, James, but it's just that well, we always have told each other everything. We've never kept secrets from each other!"
"Siri, I'm not keeping a secret from you. I'm just I just need to talk to Moony about this first," James tried to explain. He desperately didn't want to make his best friend upset, but he needed advice from Remus before he told Sirius what was going on.
Sirius opened his mouth and then promptly shut it. "Whatever, James. I'll see you later," Sirius mumbled as he got up and quickly left the library.
"Idiot," Remus mumbled as he turned the page again.
"I know," James sighed. "Should I have just told him?"
"Obviously," Remus replied, still looking down at his book.
"He was overreacting, though," James pointed out.
"That's the way Sirius is," R com commented. "I don't see why you have to talk to me before you talk to him, James. I agree with Sirius-you're acting a bit odd."
James folded his arms across his chest. "Maybe you're right, Moony. The thing is, when I tell him, I need to get it right. I can't mess this up because Siri means too much to me. I really do love him."
"I know," Remus said as he gave up on his book and placed it on the table. "Why do needneed my advice, though?"
James shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. All of a sudden, I feel kind of nervous and worried about this."
Remus couldn't help but smirk. "All of a sudden, Prongs? I think you felt this way earlier, too, you know."
"Whatever," James scowled. "All right, so you said we should a w a walk by the lake. What else? What should I wear? Should I try those blasted contacts I got over the summer? Do I look better without glasses? What about my hair? I could try that gel again, or I-"
"James, get real!" Remus exclaimed.
"Shhh," James said with a grin. "You're in librlibrary, remember?"
Remus snickered. "You and Siri have been best friends for over six years. You don't need to get all dressed up or something. Just go tell him how you feel! Chances are good he feels samesame way, regardless of your eyes or hai clo clothes."
"I know, but I just I want it to be perfect."
"I understand, James, but I think you're working yourself into a frenzy for no reason at all. Just go like you are now."
"In my school robes?" James asked, raising an eyebrow. "That's so un-romantic."
Remus snorted. "If only the rest of the school could see you now, James. Mr. Arrogant, Mr. Quidditch, Mr. Prankster all of a sudden, Mr. Sirius Black has turned the great James Potter into a pile of hopeless mush!"
James glared at Remus. "Jeans and a T-shirt or jeans and a black shirt or-"
"Decide for yourself, James. This is crazy! I'm going to go find my man and make-out for a while," Remus said with a wink.
James sighed. "Yeah, and if only the school could see Mr. Studious going off to shag his boyfriend senseless and you talk about me!"
Remus just chuckled as he gathered up his belongings and left the library. James remained sitting down, trying to decide what to wear after dinner
.
Poor James! All he needs to do is tell Sirius, but he's just too caught up in WHAT TO WEAR! So, what should he wear? (Only pick ONE choice! The sooner you vote, the sooner I can write chapter three.)
A) Old jeans and a T-shirt
B) Old jeans and a tight black shirt
C) Tight black pants and a white shirt
D) Tight black pants and a black shirt
A/N: I hope you like this story! It feels weird to write it because I have to make sure you have a decision to make at the end of each chapter!
