I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
um..2?
That smile. It always seemed to find its way into Harry’s jade eyes. His hair was still jet black and unruly. There was something boyish but reserved about him. Though he was attractive, and had the sweetest arse I had ever seen, I was still hesitant to take the offer. He was the first person I had seen in days. My feet ached. And the temperature was dropping fast.
Climbing into the car the intoxicating smell of Harry lured me into feeling calm. Warm. And oh so sleepy. I laid my head back, “so what are you doing out here Potter?”
“Getting lost.” He pulled back onto the road smoothly as if he had tons of experience driving this muggle contraption. I had seen it plenty of times, but didn’t care to learn myself. There were plenty of ways faster in the wizarding world. Though I had left my wand behind with my past. “Hermione and Ron moved out here after they married.”
“Granger and Weasel? Married? A match made in heaven.” I ignored the sharp look from Harry and smiled, “and you? Married as well?”
“No. My boyfriend and I split a few months back.” In the dimness of his car I could see his cheeks grow red.
“Boyfriend eh? Always figured you’d come out some day.”
“I see you have no little Malfoy’s running around, or did you discard them like you do all your play things?”
Laughter bubbled in my throat, “still as sharp tongued as ever I see.”
“And I see you’re still a bastard.” Harry shot back. Oh the giddiness of it all. It always caused me great pleasure verbally battling him.
“It won’t ever change.”
*~*~*
Somehow Draco always managed to push the buttons no one else could ever find. I wasn’t angry. Just frustrated. How exactly? It was as if he knew who to attack. As if he read my mind. I tried a different subject, too weary to fight. “I heard about your mother. I’m sorry.”
“She’s better off dead. When father was killed she lost it.” His voice had dropped the amusement. I regretted bring it up.
“It was…brave…of you. Escaping the death eaters like that. Joining the order.”
For a long time he didn’t answer. When he did it was barely a whisper over the low hum of the car, “thanks.” He lapsed into silence. I glanced over at him after a few minutes and realized he was sleeping.
A strange calm had settled with Draco in the car. It had been years since I had seen him. Though it seemed time didn’t matter. Sure he had aged some, but in those hypnotic gray eyes of his I could tell he was still the same sarcastic, angry teenage, who wanted only what he couldn’t have. Laying there Draco seemed so peaceful. His silver hair framing his face like a fallen angel.
Shifting, he curled closer to the door, as if he knew I was watching him. There was more to Draco than I ever believed. Behind the sharp comebacks, and the sneer that never left those soft lips was a person who lacked love and affection. We hated each other only because we were so much alike. Lost and scared and wanting the comfort that everyone seemed to have around us. We were thrust into being adults before our voices had ever cracked. I glanced over again, stealing one more look at the man who was stirring up old emotions.
It was best time I started to get to know the real Draco Malfoy.
*** I know, it\'s short! But it seems so much longer when I\'m writing it! I\'ve actually already finished chapter 3 and I believe four, but I think it\'s best to tease you guys by doing it day by day...I don\'t know how many chapters it\'ll be...an thnks for all the stars! I really \'preciate it! :D
