“Harry? Love, you better wake up now.”
Harry moaned and rolled over in bed. “Don’t wanna,” he mumbled.
Draco sighed and ran his fingers through Harry’s black hair. “You have to tell Dumbledore tonight. You need to-“
Harry bolted up and stared at Draco. “Merlin, how am I supposed to make this decision?”
Draco bit his lip. “I honestly don’t know. I can’t blame you for wanting all three to be alive again.”
Harry numbly nodded his head.
“Well, do you feel equally about all three?” Draco asked.
“What exactly do you mean?”
“This is going to sound sort of harsh,” Draco replied quietly.
“Say it anyway. Anything helps.”
“Is there one of the three or even two of the three tyou you want alive the most? I know you love all three, but are there two that you especially want alive?”
Harry looked down at his hands and then gazed at the wall beyond Draco. “I feel awful answering a question like that, Drac.”
Draco moved closer to Harry and wrapped his arms around him. “I know. No one should have to make a decision like this.”
“Sirius.”
“I figured,” Draco whispered.
“But I feel so guilty saying that!” Harry exclaimed. “What about my parents? It’s just that…well…”
“Sirius was like a father to you…well, in a way. You knew him. You didn’t really know your parents, Harry. Your answer makes sense,” Draco said in a soothing voice.
“But who else then? My mum or dad? Gods, Draco, this is all wrong!”
“Maybe you should try talking writing down your thoughts on a piece of parchment or in a journal or-“
“Drac, that is a dumb idea,” Harry mumbled, looking down at his hands.
“I figured you’d say that. What about talking to different people about it? In the end, the decision is up to you, but maybe listening to what other people have to say might help you sort your own thoughts out,” Draco suggested.
Harry looked at his boyfriend thoughtfully. “That’s not half-bad,” he replied quietly. “I’m not so sure if I’m supposed to be discussing this with other people, though.”
“Who cares?” Draco asked. He gently kissed Harry’s scar. “Do what feels best to you.”
“All right then. May I start with you?”
“Of course.”
“What would you do if you were me?” Harry asked.
“I’d definitely bring back Sirius,” Draco replied.
“Why?”
“Because I know you, and I know you miss him terribly. I also think that his life was hell, and he deserves a second chance.”
All of a sudden, Harry felt like he was going to cry, but he managed to simply nod his head.
Draco seemed to understand, so he continued speaking. “I think I would pick your father next.”
“Remember that memory of Snape’s I told you about, though? What if-“
“Harry, that’s only one memory, and it was from someone that didn’t like your father. Your dad sounds like he was a very brave and courageous man. He also sounds a bit arrogant, but hey—so am I!”
Harry chuckled slightly. “That’s very true.”
Draco raised an eyebrow. “So, you see? There’s so much more to your dad than just that one bloody memory of Severus’. I think you need to get to know the real him. Also, he and Sirius were best friends. I know that Sirius would be so happy to see your dad again.”
“I definitely agree with that,” Harry said quietly. “But wouldn’t my dad be sad that my mum wasn’t around? And, besides, this is my only chance to ever see my mum. She is the one who saved my life.”
“Yes, she is. I think it’s awful that you’ll never get to meet her. I just know you, Harry. If you bring back both of your parents, you will be miserable whenever you think about Sirius. You knew him. He also saved your life, although maybe not in the same way your mum did. Sirius was there for you. Think about your fourth year…”
“I know,” Harry sighed. “Maybe I should bring back Sirius and my mum, but I-“
“What?” Draco asked softly. He reached forward and ran his fingers through Harry’s black hair.
“I do want to know my dad better. For so long, people have told me I remind them of him and then that stupid memory changed everything. You’re right, though—there is more to him than Snape’s dumb memory. I just…I don’t know what to do, Draco!” Harry sounded almost hysterical.
“Okay, look. Do you still think it would help to talk to other people?”
“Yes, no…yes. I don’t know. I think so.”
“Then you’re going to go try it out. Then, you will come back to me, and we’ll talk again.”
Harry buried his face in his hands and trembled slightly. “This isn’t fair,” his muffled voice murmured.
Draco rubbed Harry’s back and replied, “No, it isn’t. I agree completely.”

“Honestly, Harry, I would choose your parents. You’ve never really met them before. This is your only chance to see them and talk with them. They can become a part of your life, Harry. Isn’t that what you’ve always wanted?” Hermione asked.
“I guess so,” Harry replied as he tugged at his hair.
“You guess so? Harry, don’t you remember the image you saw in the mirror of-“
“That was then,” Harry interrupted. “It might be different now!”
“You really think so? Harry, we’re talking about your parents here! You need to see them and talk with them. Think how wonderful it would be, Harry! They can find out all about you, and you can find out all about them!”
“What about Sirius?” Harry asked numbly.
Hermione sadly shook her head. “I miss him, too, Harry. I wish you could choose three people—I really do. But he isn’t related to you! You need to meet your parents.”
Harry sighed for the hundredth time and thanked Hermione.

“Gee, mate, what a rough decision! I would pick Sirius and…” Ron looked thoughtful. “You dad.”
“That’s what Draco said,” Harry murmured.
“Really?” Ron asked. “Maybe I should change my answer then…”
“Ron…please be serious about this!”
“I am, Harry. I honestly think you should pick Sirius and your dad. They were best friends and all, remember? It’s dreadful that you won’t get to see your mum, but…well, you knew Sirius, and you have to pick him. And I really think you should pick your dad, too.”
“Thanks, Ron,” Harry said as he got up.
“No problem, mate. Good luck.”

“Damn, this is what they look like?” Seamus asked.
“Well back then,” Harry replied.
“Sirius and your dad,” Seamus said, handing the picture back to Harry.
“Why do you say that?”
“I’m gay and they both look hot,” Seamus replied matter-of-factly.
Harry groaned and walked out of the room.

“Gods, Harry, I don’t know,” Neville said sadly. “If my Gran died, and I had to choose between having her again and seeing my parents—completely sane—I don’t know what I would do. I know my Gran, and I would miss her terribly.” Neville shuddered at the thought.
“Neville, I shouldn’t have asked you about this,” Harry replied quietly. “I’m really so-“
“If I were you, I would pick your mum and dad. You don’t really know them, and you need to learn about them—who they are. Just like they need to know who you are.”
Harry sanoddnodded his head and headed out of the Gryffindor common room.

“Potter, do us all a favor and only pick one person,” Professor Snape growled as he passed Harry in the hallway. “Nobody needs to see your dad and his mutt ever again.”
Harry scowled at Snape and continued to his destination.

“Well, Mr. Potter, I thought you might be stopping by,” Professor McGonagall smiled warmly. “I really can’t make this decision for you.”
“I realize that,” Harry replied. “I have been talking to a lot of people about this. I just want to hear other opinions. Perhaps someone will point out something that I hadn’t thought of.”
“Or didn’t know,’ McGonagall said. “I think you need to go talk to your defense professor.”
“I was worried that he might be too upset talking about-“
“Go talk to him.”
“Thank you, professor.”
McGonagall smiled slightly and watched the young man leave her office.

“Remus, I wasn’t going to come to you, but then McGonagall suggested it, and I…well, I-“
“I’m glad you came, Harry. I was hoping that you would.”
“Why exactly?”
“Because you don’t know everything that you should know in order to make this decision. Although…” Remus paused. “Harry, do you feel strongly about which two you would like to pick? What I’m about to say will probably sway you one way, and if you have already come close to a decision, I don’t want to change your mind.”
“I honestly am confused, Remus. However, I think I will have to pick Sirius. I want to get to know both my mum and my dad, so I’m completely stumped there. Hermione thinks I shouldn’t pick Sirius, but she doesn’t’ understand how much I miss him. I need to see him again. And, anyway, Draco pointed out that Sirius hasn’t had a good life, and he deserves a second chance.” Harry sighed. “I supposed the same could be said about my parents, though.”
“Harry, your parents weren’t in love,” Remus said quietly.
Harry leaned forward in his chair. “What do you mean?”
“It’s a terribly long story—one that you don’t have time for. The bottom line is your father and mother ended up being friends, but they weren’t in love—it was an arranged marriage, I suppose. Your father was madly in love with someone else.”
“Who?”
“Sirius.”
