She took a deep breath as she looked at herself in the mirror. She checked her make up, making sure that it was perfect. She smoothed down a few small wrinkles in her dress and checked the mirror once again. There was a knock at the door and she turned to see Ginny smiling at her, “Hey.”
Hermione gave her a smile, “Hey.”
“How are you?”
She nodded, “Alright. Nervous.”
Ginny handed her the bouquet of orchids and smiled at her, “Your father, I think, is just as nervous as you are. He keeps telling himself not to fall.”
She nodded, “Sounds like my father.”
“You ready to do this?”
She nodded, “As ready as I’m going to be.”
Ginny smiled, “Deep breaths.”
Hermione shook her head, “It doesn’t work.”
She chuckled, “Well, just remember, you just have an hour and you’ll be Lady Hermione Malfoy.”
She shook her head again, “Oh…Ginny…I don’t know if I can do this.”
“What are you talking about? I’ve never known you to step away from a challenge.”
“I know. It’s just, all those people, staring at me.”
“You’re the bride, what do you expect them to do?” Ginny gave her a quick hug, “You informed me last night that if you should say that you couldn’t do this that I was to shake you and tell you that you most certainly could.” She smiled, “Besides, he’s just as nervous as you are.”
“How do you know?”
The younger girl smiled, “I can read men.”
Hermione chuckled, “Tell me I’m doing the right thing.”
“You’re doing the right thing.”
There was another knock at the door and Hermione looked over to see her father, “It’s time,” he ducked back out, closing the door behind him.
She looked over at Ginny, “I’m crazy. I can’t do this.”
Ginny rolled her eyes, “Yes you can. It’s just nerves.”
She sighed, “I’m going to have a panic attack.”
Ginny gripped her upper arms, “Hermione, go out there and get married. If for no other reason than to see Ron’s entire head turn purple.”
She chuckled, “You’re so mean to your brother.”
“He deserves it.”
She took several deep breaths, “I can do this.”
“Yes you can.” Ginny opened the door for Hermione and gave her friend a peck on the cheek, “Good luck.”
Hermione smiled and watched Ginny walk away as she linked her arm through her fathers, “Are you alright, darling?”
She nodded, “I’m fine. Just nervous.”
He nodded, “I know how that feels. When I got married to your mother, I had butterflies the size of planes.”
She sighed, “How did you get over them?”
“I saw your mother walking down the aisle.”
“And that was it?”
“Yes.”
She sighed, “I can do this.”
He smiled, “Of course you can. You’re too stubborn to let something as silly as nerves stand in your way.”
She smiled up at father, “It’s inherited.”
He patted her hand as the doors to the cathedral swung open. She could see several cameras flashing as she was revealed to the rest of the church. Two days ago, she’d given Draco her decision. She would marry him, which seemed to shock him into silence. She knew he was probably certain that she would tell him to call off the wedding, but she didn’t. She just asked him to make sure that everything was arranged and she didn’t have to worry about mundane wedding details other than her dress.
She plastered on a smile as she and her father took the slow steps up towards the front of the church. She could see the priest and Draco standing in front of him, his hands by his sides as he waited for her to take her slow walk to him. The two days previous to the wedding, they’d spent very little time talking to one another, both scurrying around trying to get their end of the preparations settled. Hermione had to have a slight alteration made to her gown, which was causing her a great amount of stress since the tailor had seemingly disappeared on her, only to turn up the day before drunk out of his mind.
As they reached the front of the church she could see the apprehension in Draco’s eyes, mirrored in her own, she was sure. The priest was speaking, but she had no idea what he was saying. Her eyes were caught up in those of Draco’s as they both looked at one another. She felt like he could see right through her, see that she was warring within her self whether or not she should end this now. It was as if he could read it all spinning inside her head. But neither would be the one to stop it. In some ways, neither wanted it to stop.
“Draco, if you would repeat after me.” They turned and faced one another, his eyes once again peering into hers and she felt as if she couldn’t breathe. “I, Draco Octavian Malfoy, take you Hermione Robin Granger, to be my wife, my partner in life, and my one true love.”
“I, Draco Octavian Malfoy, take you Hermione Robin Granger, to be my wife, my partner in life, and my one true love.”
“I will cherish our friendship and love you today, tomorrow, and forever.”
“I will cherish our friendship and love you today, tomorrow, and forever,” he smirked at her, which caused her to smile. She didn’t know why he was smirking, but she was sure he found something about what he’d said rather funny.
“I will trust you and honor you. I will laugh with you and cry with you.”
“I will trust you and honor you. I will laugh with you and cry with you.”
“I will love you faithfully, through the best and the worst, through the difficult and the easy.”
“I will love you faithfully, through the best and the worst, through the difficult and the easy.”
“What may come I will always be there. As I have given you my hand to hold, so I give you my life to keep. So help me God.”
“What may come I will always be there. As I have given you my hand to hold, so I give you my life to keep. So help me God.”
She let out a breath as he finished speaking, hoping she could get through hers as flawlessly as he did his. She gave him a slight smile as the priest continued, “Hermione, if you could repeat after me. I, Hermione Robin Granger, take you Draco Octavian Malfoy, to be my husband, my partner in life and my one true love.”

“What may come I will always be there. As I have given you my hand to hold, so I give you my life to keep. So help me God.”
She let out a shaky breath as the priest continued. Draco watched her with interest as she stared at them and then looked down at their hands that were joined. He really couldn’t believe that she was even there. He’d thought for sure that after being given a choice to stay or leave that she would have run out of the door as quickly as her feet could carry her, but here they were. Standing in a church promising to stay faithful to one another, no matter what may come. Not only stay faithful, but promising to love one another for the rest of their lives.
That actually struck him as rather funny when he’d said it. For the most part, they barely tolerated one another. Well, before they barely tolerated one aer. er. The last few days had been so hectic and out of control that he barely had time to think, much less spend any time with her.
“If you could both repeat after me. Entreat me not to leave you, or to return from following after you.”
“Entreat me not to leave you, or to return from following after you,” his thumb was stroking over the back of her hand, causing her to smile. So maybe he was as nervous as she was.
“For where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay.”
“For where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay.”
“Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.”
“Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God,” she could hear her mother sniffling from the crowd of people. She just realized that the whole time they’d been standing at the altar cameras had been flashing. She knew both Witch Weekly and the Daily Profit were there, unable to stay away from such a huge event in the well-known witch and wizard’s lives.
“And where you die, I will die and there I will be buried.”
“And where you die, I will die and there I will be buried.”
“May the Lord do with me and more if anything but death parts you from me.”
“May the Lord do with me and more if anything but death parts you from me.”
The priest smiled at them both, “God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, bless, preserve, and keep you; the Lord mercifully with his favor look upon you; and so fill you with all spiritual benediction and grace, that you may so live together in this life, that in the world to come you may have life everlasting. Amen.”
She took a deep breath, knowing that the kiss was coming. She could feel it in her toes already and he was still standing back away from her, staring into her eyes. “I present to you, Lord and Lady Draco Malfoy.” He smiled at the couple, “You may kthe the bride.”
He took a small step forward and pulled her body against his, crushing her lips with his as she was caught slightly off guard by the way he’d kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his neck, not allowing him to pull away just yet. After several seconds, the priest cleared his throat so only the two of them could hear. Draco pulled away from her and smiled down into her face, “Masochist?” he whispered.
She chuckled and shook her head and he led her out of the church, “I must be.”
He nodded, “Well, I’m obviously one as well.”
She sighed as they made it outside the church, “I’m just glad that Harry and Ron kept their mouths closed,” she said as they stepped into the waiting area, knowing that there were pictures that needed to be taken.
He smirked, “They really had no choice.”
She furrowed her brow, “Why do you say that?”
“I put a silence spell on them both.”
She stared at him, “You didn’t.”
He nodded, “Oh I did. I didn’t want to take any chances.”
Harry and Ron burst into the room where they were waiting and Hermione looked from her two friends to her new husband. They were both flailing wildly and Draco just tilted his head to the side, “I think I’ll leave them like this.”
She whipped her head over to him, “Take it off them.”
He shrugged, removed his wand, he muttered the spell to remove it and smirked as Ron was heard screaming, “Kick your ass.”
“Not a very nice thing to say in a church, Weasley.”
“Draco, you shouldn’t have done that,” she said with a smile.
“Sorry, love, but Potter warned me ahead of time that this wedding wouldn’t happen. I took that to mean that he was going to say something to stop it, so I stopped him before he could do so.”
She shook her head, “You’re impossible.”
“I know. But you married me anyway,” he said with a smirk.
“Hermione, you can get it annulled.”
Draco shook his head with a chuckle, “You’re right. I could. But I won’t.” She sighed, “Look, you two need to move pass this. We’re married now. And although I don’t approve of what he did to you,” she said giving Draco a look, “I have to say that it was probably a smart move.”
“Thank you.”
Ron scowled, “We’re watching you Malfoy.”
“I hope not all the time. Be an invasion of Hermione’s privacy.”
She shook her head, “Not the right thing to say,” she said softly.
Harry sighed, “Come on, Ron.”
Draco smiled and gave a slight little wave to add insult to injury as Harry pulled Ron out of the room. She turned to look at Draco, “Way to add fuel to the fire.”
He rolled his eyes and took a seat on the sofa, “It’s not my fault they hate me.”
“Whose fault is it?”
He smirked, “Okay, so it might be a little my fault.”
She shook her head, “Why did I marry you?”
He shrugged, “I’ve been wondering that myself.”
She bit her lip, “As you said, I’m a masochist.”
He smiled, “You must be. But that’s not a real answer.”
She shrugged and took his hand, “Come along, we have pictures to take and a reception to go to. And I’ll tell you later the reason why.”
He nodded, “Right.”
“You must tell me what it was you thought was so funny while we were saying our vows.”
He smirked, “Well, here we were pledging to spend the rest of our lives loving one another when we can barely tolerate the presence of the other. Didn’t you find that just slightly humorous?”
She sighed, “A little.”
“Alright then.” He heaved a sigh and looked at the different reporters and the one photographer they’re hired, “Let’s get these pictures taken.”
*~*
She walked into Malfoy Manor, fear and trepidation streaming over her spine as she realized that there was no more putting off what she feared most. She tried to swallow the down the irrational part of her that told her to turn now and run for her life, but she’d seen this through to this point she might as well follow through now.
Draco followed inside behind her as she turned to him, “Um…”
When she said nothing he raised both eyebrows at her, “You alright? You look a little flushed.”
She bit her lip, “Um…”
“Um…what?”
She sighed, “I’m nervous.”
To this he only raised one eyebrow, “About what?”
“Um…”
He chuckled, “You do know other words besides ‘um’ right?” She nodded, he shook his head as he smirked, “What’s wrong with you? You’ve acted perfectly normal all day and now you’re…acting rather odd. What are you nervous about?”
She pressed her lips together and looked up at him with hooded eyes, “To-tonight.”
He furrowed his brow, “Why are you nervous?”
“Well, this…it’s…it’s weird.”
“What is?”
“This.”
“This what?”
She sighed, “This tension between us.”
“There’s tension between us?” he asked with a raised eyebrow.
“You can’t be that dense.”
He smirked, “I’m not. I’m just trying to make you forget that you’re nervous.”
“Well you aren’t doing a very good job.”
He laughed, “I’m not used to doing so.” He sighed at her expression, one of hopelessness. “Look, you have nothing to be afraid of.”
“I know that.”
“And you have done this before,” he said walking up the stairs, Hermione on his heels.
“I know that too.”
When they reached his bedroom doors he stopped, “Then what are you so worried about?”
“It’s…it’s you. And me.”
“Right. It’s us. Why is that so scary for you?”
She sighed, “Do I really have to say it?”
He sighed, “Is this going back to the thing where you think you aren’t good?”
She frowned, “I know you think that it’s silly…”
He shook his head, “I don’t think it’s silly, but if no one has ever told you that you are bad, then why would you just assume you were. I think it’s unfounded really.”
“It’s not.”
“Well, explain to me why you think that.”
She shrugged, “It’s just…I felt like something was missing with everyone else.”
He furrowed his brow, “Doesn’t sound to me like you’re the one who had the problem. Obviously they didn’t know what they were doing.”
She sighed, “So you think I’m worrying about nothing?”
He shrugged, “Don’t know. Maybe.”
She slapped him on the arm, “You make me so angry.”
He chuckled, “Hermione, you need to calm down,” he said opening the doors to the bedroom revealing candles on every flat surface. She walked inside and looked around, wondering when he’d had time to do this.
“Dra…”
“Don’t say anything. Just take it in.”
She sighed when she saw that the sheets on the bed were silk, but a dark crimson color, almost the color of blood. She swallowed the lump in her throat and shook her head, “When did you do this?”
He smirked, “Well, I’ll have you know that house elves, when asked politely, are a very eager bunch to cater to your whim.”
She looked over at him, “They’ll be set free in the morning.”
He smiled, “I would be surprised if you didn’t feel that way.”
She turned to him, “Why do all of this?”
He shrugged, “I knew you were nervous enough and I didn’t need to add to it by making you feel like this was some sort of chore you had to perform. It’s an event.”
She smiled slowly, “An event?”
“Let me have my moment of being charming please. It’s a passing emotion.”
She nodded, “Continue, by all means.”
“Anyway, as I was saying. It’s an event in our new lives together. Life can be hectic enough, so I thought I would put your mind at ease, hopefully.”
She shook her head, “I’m not used to you being this nice to me.”
He circled around her as a predator would a prey and whispered in her ear, “We’ll get you used to the idea.”
She looked up at him, “This isn’t at all what I expected.”
He smirked, “What did you expect?”
She glanced at him, “Truth?”
He nodded, “Yeah.”
“Um…cave man tactics.”
“Meaning?”
“Meaning…you throw me over your shoulder and carry me up the stairs kicking and screaming.”
He smiled, “We can do that tomorrow if you like.”
She shook her head, “No…no this…this is nice.”
He nodded, “I’m glad you approve.” He tilted his head and he stood in front of her, “I haven’t told you that you look phenomenal, have I?”
She blushed slightly, “No. You haven’t. But you realize that you don’t have to give me compliments right now, right? I’m mean, I’m what some would call a sure thing.”
He smiled, “I won’t give you another one then.”
She sighed, “That’s not what I meant.”
“I know what you meant.” He smirked, “Since you are a sure thing…”
“Draco…”
“Problem?”
She watched as he began unfastening his robe and she bit her lip, “N-no. No problem.”
He raised an eyebrow at her when she just stared at him, not moving and it seemed as if she wasn’t breathing. He chuckled to himself. She must have been more sexually oppressed than he thought. If he were Potter and Weasley he would have taken advantage of their closeness and had her already. But he rolled his eyes, knowing that was something that set him apart from them. He removed his hands and took a step towards her rubbing his hands over her arms, feeling her body tense up at the contact. “Relax, Hermione.”
She took a deep breath and looked into his eyes, “I’m trying.”
He leaned down to kiss her, cupping her face in his hands as his lips caressed over hers. He slid his tongue along her bottom lip, causing her to release a sigh and he slipped his tongue into her mouth. This was it, the taste he’d been yearning for. Since the night she’d kissed him he’d been craving for it. The kiss in the church had been rushed and only fueled his need for her. He slid his hands down her neck and over her shoulders to begin working on the buttons of her robe. He could feel her hands in his hair, as his lips moved along her jaw, nipping at the soft skin.
She was surprised when he removed her arms from around his neck and pulled away from where he’d begun nibbling on her ear. He had her robe open now and pushed the satin fabric off her shoulders to form a pile in the floor. She took a shaky breath as she stared at it pooled around her feet and realized that she was standing in front of him in nothing more than a pair of white lace panties and bra. She was afraid to look into his eyes, afraid to see some form of disgust in his eyes. He seemed to sense this, and tilted her chin up to look at him, “Don’t,” was all he said before he kissed her again.
That small little phrase gave her a new sense of confidence. The Draco Malfoy found no problems with her body, at least none that she could read in his eyes, and she felt more like a woman as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her body against his. She could feel his erection against her stomach and took great pleasure in knowing that she did that to him. He wanted her. Not because she was his wife and he should, but because as a woman he found her attractive. Sexually attractive.
She moved her hands down to finish undoing his robe and found a pair of black silk boxer shorts. His body was lean and cut in all the right places. He began walking backwards toward the bed, moving his lips over her neck and shoulder as he lifted her to set her upon the mattress. She moved back towards the pillows and he joined her quickly, reclaiming her mouth in several fiery kisses, each one hotter than the previous. His hands began a leisurely exploration of her body, taking in each soft sigh and moan that escaped her lips. He pulled her into a sitting position as he slid his hands over her back, coming up to release the clasp. She gasped as he flicked his tongue over the juncture of her neck and shoulder, shuddering as he repeated the action.
He slid the straps of her bra off her arms and tossed it behind him as he leaned her back onto the bed. She stared up at him as his eyes slid over her body appreciatively. She ran her hands over his shoulders and chest, then scrapped her nails over his taut stomach. His low growl was enough to let her know that he liked what she was doing. He slid one of his knees between her thighs as he kissed her once on the lips and moved over her skin slowly. When he reached her breasts, he looked up at her with hooded eyes and he reached his tongue out and swiped it over the hardened tip. She bit her lip in response, shivering slightly as he continued to watch her.
She grasped the blanket beneath her as he finally closed his mouth over the rosy peak and swirled his tongue over it. She let out a breathless cry when one of his hands slid over her flat stomach and up to tease the other. She threw her head back, her eyes closed as she allower ber body to do nothing but feel. She was beyond thoughts as he switched breasts, taking great care in lavishing as much attention on this one as he had the other. She let out a soft sigh as he placed several kisses down her stomach, his hands following his slow journey as he let his fingertips glide along her sides. She shivered beneath him, causing him to smile against her skin.
He slipped his fingers beneath the sides of her panties and sat back on his feet as he slid them away from her body, her hips rising to allow him to do sohe fhe felt the sudden urge to cover her body having become very aware that she was now completely naked. He could see the blush in her cheeks spread throughout her body as he shook his head, “I said don’t.” She bit her lip as she stared down at him, wondering if he was just being polite or really did like what he saw. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, knowing that Draco had never done anything just for the sake of being polite, but the other just seemed so far fetched for her.
She felt him spread her legs and opened her eyes to stare at him, “Draco…”
He raised an eyebrow at her, “Yes?”
“You…you’re not going to…” she whispered softly.
He smiled, “Indeed I am.”
“But…”
“But?” She bit her lip, “Just relax.”
“Easy for you to say,” she mumbled as she turned her eyes away from his, but she could still see the smile upon his lips. She felt his lips sliding from her knee down towards her core, apprehension and desire warring within her. She took a deep breath as he brushed his tongue over her heated flesh. This wasn’t the first time someone had done this for her, but it was one of the few times when she was actually anticipating it. She moaned his name as he flicked his tongue over her clit, her hips bucking up to him, begging for more.
In the last few days he’d thought about this in his dreams. He’d wondered if she’d be wet for him, need him like he desperately needed her if the erection he had was any indication. He slid one finger inside her slick channel as he circled around her clit, only flicking his tongue over it after he’d done a complete circle. She felt like she was going mad when he slid another finger inside of her and sped up his ministrations. She clutched the sheets in her hands as she writhed beneath him, feeling her orgasm growing closer. But it wasn’t until he slid a thfingfinger inside of her and began vigorously flicking his tongue over the tight nub that her body tensed and she came, crying out his name her as her body shivered.
She quaked beneath him, opening her eyes in time to see him slide his fingers inside his mouth, the sight almost more than her body could handle. She took several shuddering breaths as she felt him move to lay beside her, his hands resting on her stomach as she tried to control her breathing. She turned her head to look at him and found his grey eyes dark with desire for her. She reached for him, pulling his mouth against hers. She could taste herself on his lips, which only seemed to excite her more.
He divested himself of his boxers, unsure that he could hold off on being inside of her any longer. He rolled onto his back and pulled her on top of him. She looked down at him, “What are you doing?”
He smiled, “You get to be on top.”
She leaned down and kissed him again as she straddled his waist. She pulled away from his lips and sat up. His hands moved over her body to settle on her hips. She guided him inside of her, both moaning as he filled her. She moved slowly at first, trying to drag it out for them both. But Draco knew that the second he entered her it wouldn’t take long for him to get there and watching her above him, biting her lip with her eyes closed tightly made him realize it was going to be shorter than even he thought. He began speeding up the pace of her hips and she reached back and gripped his thighs, allowing his hands to control her movements. He slid his hand over her stomach and slid lower to allow his thumb to rub against her already sensitive clit, causing her to shudder above him.
It wasn’t long until they both came, her inner muscles clenching around him sent him over the edge just seconds after her. She collapsed on top of him, resting her head between his shoulder and chin. Their breathing was ragged as they just lay together, his hands moving over her back to stroke her soft sweat-covered skin.
She shivered above him, which caused him to look down at her, “Are you cold?” he asked softly.
She nodded and he rolled her to the side, sliding out of her. He reached beneath the pillows and pulled the blankets down allowing them both to slide beneath them. She moved into his arms, feeling like she could have the first night of restful sleep in days. She yawned and he kissed the top of her head.
“You never answered my question,” he said softly.
She rested her head over his heart and sighed, “Which question was that?”
“Why did you agree to marry me?”
She sighed, “Because saying no would have been the easy way out.”
“That’s it?”
“What do you want me to say?”
He sighed, “I don’t know.”
“I’m not sorry, though.”
“You’re not?”
“No. Even though I might regret this in the years to come, I think I made the right choice.”
“I think you did too.”
She sighed and closed her eyes, “I’m so sleepy.”
“Then I think we should get some sleep. But before we do, I wanted to tell you.”
“Tell me what?”
“You had absolutely nothing to worry about.”
She smiled as she pressed a kiss to his chest, “You don’t have to say that.”
“You’re right, I don’t.”
“Are you sure you aren’t just saying that to make me feel better?”
He laughed and the sound rumbled against her ear, “When have I ever said anything to make you feel better?”
She smiled, “Good point.”
“Get some sleep.”
She closed her eyes again as the soft sound of his heartbeat and the feeling of his fingers running through her hair lulled her to sleep.
*~*
The bed was empty. She knew it right away, something that caused her to sit up straight and look for him. After two years of being married to Draco, she’d grown accustomed to his presence beside her when she slept. She finally caught sight of him across the room by the fire in a rocking chair he’d bought specifically for her. She rubbed her eyes as she climbed out of bed and walked over to him, “Draco…”
“Shhh,” he said when she approached and she could see the figure of their son resting in his arms. “What are you doing awake?” he asked never taking his eyes off the infant.
“The bed was empty,” she said softly, staring down into the little red face. “Did he wake up?”
He nodded, “All it took was holding him and he went back out.”
“How long ago was that?”
“About an hour.”
She smiled, “So you’ve been sitting here all this time?”
He nodded, “Yeah.”
“I never would have guessed that you liked babies.”
He shook his head, “In general I don’t. But my own son…”
She rubbed his head, “Come on, put him in the bassinet and come back to bed.”
He sighed, “He’s two days old, Hermione. I can’t believe he’s been here for two whole days.”
She smiled, “He’s been here for two days and he still doesn’t have a name.”
“I thought of one,” he said as he stood.
“When did you think of one?”
“While I wattintting here.”
“And what did you come up with?”
He sighed, “Everett.”
She smiled, “Everett? Where did you get that name?”
He shrugged, “It just came to me,” he said as he stood and walked over to the bassinet and placed him inside. “What do you think?”
She nodded, “I like it.”
He smirked, “Bed?”
She nodded and climbed beneath the sheets, “I think you finally found someone you love more than anything.”
He looked down at her and smiled, “Two someone’s actually.”
She said nothing, she closed her eyes and snuggled against him more. He kissed the top of her head as he closed his own eyes and fell asleep.
THE END

Thanks to Martha for betaing this for me!
