Chapter Two: Fudge Reveals.

Hermione informed the Headmaster that Professor McGonagall had fainted. She was taken to the Hospital Wing to recover from her shock. Hermione then headed to the Library, but Harry and Ron weren’t there, so she went back to Gryffindor tower.
“Peacock,” she told the Fat Lady. She smiled, and opened to let her pass. She hurried past the rest of the Gryffindors not wanting to count down to when she would have to bare her soul to the Wizarding world. Meanwhile the Ministry received Hermione’s contract, and jotted it down for record, then the Minister left and headed for Hogwarts.
“Minister, welcome,” said Professor Dumbledore.
“Thanks Dumbledore, I have news to give out, and then you can enjoy your dinner,” he told him. “I hate doing this as much as you do, but I don’t want to see the end of our world. I informed Severus's father about what happened as well as Hermione’s parents.” Dumbledore looked worried about that part.

“Do you think they will except it?”
“I don’t know, but Severus and Hermione are a good match, they are both very smart.” Dumbledore almost wanted to chuckled at the thought of those two in the same room, but all he did was lead him into the Great Hall. The staff wondered why the Minister was here, but he said nothing, and neither did Dumbledore. Meanwhile, Hermione was getting ready for dinner.
“Are you coming, Hermione?” Ginny asked. She turned to her.
“I’ll be there,” she told her. She looked at her ring, and went over the events of the day. She had never been married before, and she had no idea how to be a wife, especially to someone like Snape. She decided to put her head up, and see who else had gotten married. She guessed it would at least be interesting. Hermione kept her left hand in her pocket as the Gryffindors headed down to the Great Hall for dinner. When Hermione entered, she saw Fudge standing there with Dumbledore. She knew the Headmaster wanted her to sit at the staff table for the one day, and she knew she had to listen to him. She walked passed the Gryffindor table, and stood in front of Fudge. “Hello Hermione, you look pretty tonight.” Fudge said to her. Hermione snorted at that, and then she joined the staff members at the table.

“Dumbledore wants me to sit here,” she told Lupin. The Professor didn’t say anything as she sat down. Meanwhile Harry was looking and Ron.
“Why is she sitting with Lupin and Snape?” Ron asked.
“I don’t know,” Harry replied. When everyone entered the Great Hall and settled down with the help of Dumbledore's purple fireworks, Fudge cleared his throat.

“Now, before we start dinner, I have some news, and if I don’t tell it now, it will cause great confusion. The doctors at the Wizard Hospital have said there is a disease spreading among the pureblooded families. They are dying out, the doctor stated that if a pureblooded wizard were to marry a Muggle-born witch, then the disease would stop, and would then disappear slowly. This is what happened in Egypt centuries ago, and now it’s happening to us. To prevent this, the Marriage Law has been created. We sent letters to the head of each pureblooded family, and they have decided on a wife for those sons who are still alive. The men are now married to these witches, and had no idea until tonight who they are married to. I do hope you will bring us the hope that we can wipe out this disease before there is nothing left of magic then a memory. We have so far married ten couples today, and more are soon to join. And here they are.

Hermione watched the people that had so far been mentioned looking at each other. Some, she saw were happy, but Ron's expression was hard to read. He looked like he was between bed-wetting, and a near death experience. She turned her attention back to Fudge.

Hermione turned to Professor Lupin.
“Are they brothers?” She asked.
“Sure are,” Lupin replied. “Wonder if they’re going to high jinx me into marriage. Hermione thought that it might be nice if Lupin had someone. She again turned to Fudge.

“Looks like I got my wish,” he told Hermione. Hermione knew that Snape was going to die when he was called.
Hermione Granger
Severus Snape

THUMP, Hermione and Remus looked over, and saw Snape had fainted. Professor Dumbledore took him to his quarters as Fudge asked if Severus would be fine.
“Oh he’ll be fine, he just got a shock,” he told Fudge. That was not the half of it. A lot of the men that had been married off to Muggle-born witches were yelling at Fudge.
“If you don’t like it, then you shouldn’t have been born,” he yelled back. Hermione showed Lupin the ring Dumbledore had given her.

“Well that is pretty, the Ministry went all out for this.” Hermione almost wanted to nod, but she decided first there were some things that had to be done. That night, Hagrid was told to take her things down to Snape’s private quarters. Dumbledore gave her the password, and a new chamber had been added. He told her not to rush Snape into anything, and to let him get used to the idea that he now had a wife. Hermione decided to give him all the space he wanted. A few hours later, Snape woke up to the smile of Dumbledore.

“I know I’m in hell, you’re here,” he said to him. Dumbledore chuckled at his remark.
“Do you remember what happened?”
“Yes I do, old man, I’m married to that Know-it-all,” he spat. Dumbledore sighed.
“Look I know you don’t like this, and this goes against the rules of the school, but I have no rule over the Minister of Magic. Maybe you’ll enjoy being married to her. You can find out what she likes and doesn’t like. Anyway, she should be asleep, so you don’t have to worry about being around her. ”Snape tried to think of this in a positive manner, but one thing was for sure he was going to kill his father.
Dumbledore left him, and a few minutes later he entered his living room. Sure enough she was sound asleep on the couch, her History of Magic book on her chest. She must have sensed that he entered the room because she woke up.

“Oh I’m sorry Professor, I must have fallen asleep,” she told him. “ I’ll see you in the morning.” She crossed the room, and Snape cleared his throat.
“Hermione, I was wondering, was mine the only father who wanted their son to marry you?”
“Um no sir, Lucius Malfoy wanted me to marry his son. I thought you might be better then Malfoy. I’ll be heading to bed.”
“Good night,” he called, trying to act civil. She smiled at him, and closed the door.
