Pondering

The next day the sun shone bright and illuminated the figures asleep on the beds. Everybody was reluctant to allow the sun to disturb their sleep, so they pulled the sheets over their heads and hoped that sleep would keep its claim over them.

However, one figure was not lying in their bed. They were sitting in the common room on the couch in front of the fire berating them for allowing them to get caught up in the game that had been played the night before.

Hermione Granger sat wondering if there was a possible way for her to avoid Professor Severus Snape for the rest of the school year. Only six more months and she would be graduating from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was only December and she knew that no matter how much she wished, she knew that it would be impossible for her to take her potions N.E.W.T’S early. ighiighing, she stood up, climbed out of the portrait hond mnd made her way to the library.

‘I can’t believe I let Harry and Ron talk me into doing that,’ she thought. ‘I’m surprised Professor Snape didn’t give me a detention or take me to talk to Professor Dumbledore about getting me expelled/ I’m sure he’ll be all to happy if I let Hogwarts.’

She walked down the hallways, hardly making any sounds and not really paying attention to where she was going.

‘Maybe I can erase his memory of it. I can get some books and learn the ‘Obliviate’ spell and someday soon, when he’s not looking, I can cast it on him and he wont remember and everything can go back to normal.’

She rounded a corner.

‘But what if it doesn’t work on him? I mean, he is a very powerful wizard. He could be able to resist it. That might be a problem.’

She arrived outside of the library. She went to reach for the door…

… And it opened, smacking her in the head. She fell to the floor, unconscious.
