Chapter 19

Draco

Walking around my ballroom slowly, I pretended to enjoy myself while mingling with the small crowd of people that were barely arriving to mother's last minute dinner party. You had to hand it to my mother. She could throw quite a soiree in no time flat. The place looked sensational, and through the giant windows that lined the wall, you could see the sunset past the terrace. There was twinkling lights strewn up outside in the courtyard that could be seen, and inside mother had recreated the floating candle motif from the Great Hall at Hogwarts. There was a table of hor d'oeuvres situated for people to partake in before dinner, and someone mother hired was playing music on the Grand Piano.

I sighed in annoyance. I was dreading this night for three days since mother told me who would be attending tonight. My mother kept calling her my 'intended' a word she picked up from my friend Blaise she tells me, and hearing it would always make me cringe. I had other things to think about, things that were more important. Like trying to figure out how I would get revenge on that arse Weasley.

Just thinking about him irked me enough that I needed to refill my drink. I sauntered over to the bar and poured myself a drink of Firewhiskey ignoring the squib that was hired as bartender for the night. After downing the whole thing I looked up and noticed my mother walking towards me with a small group of people.

"Draco, my son, here you are, I would like to formally introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Willoughby. This is my good friend Prudence and her husband Edward." My mother acknowledged.

I shook both of their hands warmly. "It's a pleasure to meet you both. Welcome to our home, I hope you enjoy our dinner party here tonight." I tried to be a civil as possible seeing as my mother just called them her good friends, so I didn't use the haughty airs of my kin at the moment.

My mother smiled fondly while I was introduced to the Willoughby's. "And this beautiful treasure is Gwendolyn Dawn Willoughby, their daughter." My mother continued signaling to the woman that appeared from behind her parents.

She was a stunning vision that made my eyes widen in surprise. I swallowed and cleared my voice, "Gwendolyn," I took her offered hand and bestowed a tender kiss on it while gazing at her beauty, "it is a pleasure to meet you, my lady." She had the blondest hair I had ever seen, it was sleek and long, down to her waist. Her large eyes were luminous shade of green, her cheeks were rosy pink, and her lips were plump and looked soft and luscious, with a hint of pink hue to them. Her face didn't have the sharp edges of a Malfoy, but a softness to it, with a small roundness to her cheeks, that accented the beauty of her.

"The pleasure is all mine, Lord Malfoy. I have been looking forward to meeting you. I am delighted to finally make your acquaintance." She said. Her voice was a balm on my heavy heart. Her beauty had no equal that I have noted thus far in my life. I peered up at her parents, and they both had looks of approval, and nodded reassuring at me.

"Mr. Willoughby, the gardens outside look marvelous, may I take a stroll about with your daughter?"

"Of course you may, son. Go and show her around, but don't go too far or you will both miss dinner." informed her father.

I offered Gwendolyn my arm, and we walked off to get to know each other better.

"So, Gwendolyn, tell me a little bit about yourself."

"Well, I am a twenty-four years old, an only child, and I graduated from Beauxbatons Academy with honors. I have been traveling the world with my parents for a couple of years now. I've even been to many Muggle places, and I found them quite enjoyable, especially the beaches of the worlds," her movements were elegant with finesse, and I found myself completely captivated by her charm, "my parents have been telling me that it is time for me to marry and do my duty as a Pure-Blood wife. When my parents first told me who they chose for me, I was delighted. You are a most agreeable partner for me Mr. Malfoy, and I have read all about you and your family."

"You can call me Draco, there's no need for such formal talk, Gwendolyn. I'm really sorry that I don't know all that much about you. I've been quite busy running the family company as it were, but I'm very interested in fixing that little problem."

"Draco, I do so love that name. I love that your family is named after star constellations. Family traditions are very important to me. I will honor every single one of yours as well. I can't wait to name our children, Draco."

She threw me off with that statement, she was going on as if this marriage was set it stone, but I figured why the hell not?

Gwendolyn was beautiful and if she graduated with honors, then she would most likely be able to keep me interested with conversations. Plus, it was time that I settle down and marry again. Maybe it was best to stop whoring around and not embarrass my son with anymore gossip. Why not with a beautiful, intelligent, Pure-Blood witch? It was better then mother fixing me up with some ugly-shit troll that I would be stuck with forever.

"I look forward to the same with you, Gwendolyn." I whispered to her.
