Chapter Nineteen
Albus and Scorpius spent the rest of the holiday break bouncing from the Manor to the Potters’ house, to Ron and Hermione’s house. They spent time with both sets of their parents, with the girls, and with the extended family, too.
They attempted a pick-up game of Quiddich with James and Hugo that ended in hilarity, predictably. They went into London with the girls to poke around Muggle shops, and even a Muggle dance club. Scorpius spent some time with Rose’s mother, as he had always intended to go into magical law himself, once he realized his gift for talking his way out of things, and she was a great source of encouragement.
They had lovely brunches at the Manor and casual dinners at the Potters’. They visited James’s apartment and inadvertently walked in on him with his latest girlfriend. It was the best holiday break Scorpius could remember having.
Usually he spent his holidays alone, wanting to go back to school since he missed socializing. This time, he didn’t ever want the break to end. However, he and Albus were currently packing their trunks, preparing to catch the train back the next morning.
The festivities had finally culminated the previous night with a rollicking New Year’s Eve party at the Potters’, where Albus and Scorpius had gotten embroiled in the world’s most silly game of truth or dare known to man. The participants had split two bottles of champagne first, unbeknownst to their parents, and with the exception of Scorpius and James, none of them could hold their liquor worth a damn.
Although, Scorpius knew they’d had little experience with drinking, unlike himself. The game had finally been called at nearly three in the morning when Lily dared Scorpius to kiss Albus for the third time in a row. Scorpius loved Lily dearly, but sometimes he wondered about her voyeuristic tendencies. He was going to have to be more careful about locking doors in the future.
He was conscientiously packing his trunk as quietly as possible, since Albus had awakened looking terribly green around the gills. When they’d gone down to lunch, having slept through breakfast, Astoria had fussed over Albus terribly, thinking he might be coming down with the flu.
Scorpius’s father had given him an arch look, which Scorpius pretended not to acknowledge, although a small smile had tugged at his lips anyway.

After plenty of hugging at the train station, Albus, Scorpius, Lily, Rose, and Hugo managed to find a compartment together. Albus was completely recovered from his “flu,” and was wriggling with joy at soon being able to tell more people about their engagement.
He certainly had plenty of chances, beginning with Kate Finnegan, who stopped by their compartment with her little brother, Ewan, a third-year, and another good friend of theirs, Alton Thomas.
“So did you lot have a good holiday?” she asked.
“Definitely!” Albus beamed. “You know, just the regular stuff. Brunches and parties. Oh, and Scorpius and I got engaged.”
“YOU WHAT!?!” Kate screamed, starling Ewan.
And that was just the beginning. Pretty soon all of their friends were coming by in droves to listen to Albus tell the story and to offer congratulations. Albus was in seventh heaven, and Scorpius just held his hand and enjoyed watching him. He was blissfully happy, and it made Scorpius feel pretty blissful himself.
*****************
The Welcome-Back feast that night seemed more like an engagement party. More and more people who had heard the news came by the table to congratulate them and Albus preened. The news even reached the head table, apparently, since several professors came by to wish them well, including Professor Longbottom, the Herbology professor, who was a family friend of the Potters.
Scorpius couldn’t remember a more festive supper at Hogwarts. He did notice a few of his former cronies at the Slytherin table rolling their eyes and whispering, but luckily Albus was across the table from him and had his back to the Slytherins. Scorpius didn’t care, anyway. Let them talk.
For once, he was actually feeling like he was doing things right. Being bad had been fun, certainly, but he’d gotten no real satisfaction from it. It was downright tiring, in fact. Being with Albus was just so easy. That’s how he’d known that he was making the right decision.
The sense of ennui that had plagued him for years was gone. There was no tension and no pressure being with Albus. He remembered what Rose had told him months ago, about Albus not expecting people to be anything other than what they were. Albus didn’t want him to do anything except be himself and that made everything simple.

That night, when Albus and Scorpius climbed into bed, Scorpius immediately pounced on him and began kissing him. Albus responded enthusiastically, as always.
“You looked so damn cute tonight, basking in all that attention,” Scorpius teased him.
“It was the best time of my life.”
“Now, really, the best? Ever?”
“Well, want to see if you can make right now be my new best time?”
“Oh, a challenge, is it?”
“Nope. In fact how about you just lie back and let me play with you for a while?” Albus looked at him coquettishly.
“Sounds good to me,” Scorpius teased. He leaned back against the pillows, putting his hands behind his head and watching Albus.
Albus had a glint in his eyes that made Scorpius a little weak. Then Albus started to kiss his neck, and he felt a lot more weak. Albus slowly kissed his way across Scorpius’s shoulder, and across the muscles in his arms. Then he began lavishing attention on his fiancé’s bare chest. When Albus reached his nipple and didn’t stop, Scorpius began to tremble.
Albus licked and sucked and nibbled, and then switched to the other nipple. Scorpius moaned and Albus grinned up at him deviously. Then he started moving lower. He kissed across Scorpius’s stomach, laving the muscles with his tongue. “Mmmm… I love your stomach,” Albus murmured, and suddenly all those mornings Scorpius spent doing sit-ups seemed more than worth it.
But Albus didn’t stop. He pulled down Scorpius’s shorts, inch by inch, kissing his hipbones, his cock, his balls. When Albus finally took Scorpius’s cock in his mouth, Scorpius almost came on the spot. But this way Albus’s game. Scorpius had enough experience to have good control. He’d let Albus tell him when they were done.
Luckily Albus didn’t waste too much time, though. Suddenly, he straddled Scorpius, letting Scorpius’s cock rub against his arse. Albus started snogging him again, and Scorpius groaned into the kiss. Albus whispered something against Scorpius’s mouth, and then reached a hand behind himself.
Carefully rising up, balancing with a hand on the headboard, and positioning Scorpius’s cock with his other hand, he sunk down, burying Scorpius’s cock deep inside himself. They both moaned loudly, and Albus leaned over to kiss him again.
Scorpius grabbed Albus’s hips and helped him find a rhythm. Their mouths seemed fused together. As if something was compelling him, Scorpius opened his eyes and looked deeply into Albus’s, only inches away. There was such a depth of feeling there that Scorpius couldn’t help the strangled cry that burst from his throat.
He grabbed Albus’s hips harder, and pushed up, meeting each thrust. They came at nearly the same time, and Albus collapsed on top of Scorpius. Scorpius wrapped his arms around Albus and squeezed.
When Albus moved to roll off of him, Scorpius clutched him tighter. “I’m not squashing you?” Albus asked sleepily.
“No. Stay.”
“Forever.”
