Keeping it Quiet
“Where’ve you been?” Melinda yelled over the crowd. Gryffindor was still in the lead and the snitch had been spotted finally.
“There was a line,” Lily said quickly. For some reason she did not want to tell Melinda what had happened.
With a shrug, she turned back to the game, and Lily sat in thought. Autumn and Shawn had disappeared, and Lily was sure they went to find an empty classroom.
Impatiently, Lily watched the rest of the game. She wanted to talk to James as soon as possible, but she knew she would be unable to until they were alone on duty.
The snitch was spotted once again and the two seekers were going after it, fighting each other the whole way. Bludgers were constantly flying in their direction as the chasers were able to score easier.
“WICKER GETS THE SNITCH! GRYFFINDOR WINS!” Though the announcer did not need to say that, since Gryffindor students were losing their minds at this point. People were going crazy as the team flew over the stands smiling and waving.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in the common room everyone was celebrating and James was in the center of it. Instead of fighting her way through like she normally would, Lily took a seat on one of the couches that was pushed off to the side.
James was celebrating with the rest of the group and he noticed that Lily was nowhere to be seen. As quick as he could, he excused himself from the group surrounding him, and the promptly swarmed Malcolm Wicker, since he had caught the snitch.
He quickly searched, ignoring the fire whiskey that was shoved into his face. Being Head Boy he should have scolded them for it, but he wasn’t going to punish his own house mates.
“There you are!” James exclaimed with a smile walking over to her, but he could tell she was unhappy as he got closer, and the smile faded.
“Hey,” Lily said quietly looking at him, giving him a false smile. She really was happy for him, but her anger at Severus overshadowed it.
“Everything alright love?” He asked moving around the side of the arm chair she was sitting in, and crouching down next to it to hear her better.
She looked down at him, for the first time in her life, “no.” Lily said honestly. She was unsure why she felt guilty about what had happened, actually nothing had happened, but it was just the whole situation.
James instantly looked concerned as he searched her face, “did I do something wrong?” He asked worried waving off Sirius who was on his way over before turning back to Lily.
“No, don’t worry,” she said smiling over at him a bit.
“Let’s go somewhere private so we can talk,” James said moving to stand up, but Lily put a hand on his shoulder.
“We can talk tonight, your fans would be disappointed with you gone,” she said looking at the group, catching some of them looking their way before looking back down at James.
“Lils if it is bothering you we should talk,” James persisted, but she just shook her head no, and he knew he would not win this one.
“We will I promise, just later okay? You should enjoy your victory.” She leaned down to kiss him, and just as she pulled back he was swept away by his team once again.
James looked over his shoulder at Lily as he was pushed forward trying to get back to her, but she just waved him along, and found one of her friends to talk to.
“What just happened mate?” Sirius asked taking a swig of his unknown drink.
“I have no idea,” James said honestly opting for some pop instead. He tried not to drink as much anymore, his party days were over for now.
Sirius eyed him, “did you go and mess things up already?” He asked him sarcastically, but also concerned.
“I hope not. She said it wasn’t me…” James said but was interrupted by a guy who was already half way off the deep end drunk.
“It’s always you mate,” he slurred. “Girls always find a way to blame you.”
“Buzz off,” Sirius said shoving him in a different direction.
James sighed, and tried to ignore his thoughts, but it was not working. It was the first time ever he was looking forward to hall duty.
