So We Meet

I hope everyone is enjoying this story. I know it got abandoned for a little while, but I'm trying my best to finish it up. It's slow going because my muse doesn't want to cooperate, but I'm making progress slowly but surely...

They didn’t have to wait long. The day before they were to return to Hogwarts, James, Abraxas, and Tobias were sitting in the floor of the main room of Spinner’s end, playing some old battered Muggle board game that Tobias had found abandoned in the house.

“You landed on my property. Let’s see…with a hotel….you’re broke, mate.” Abraxas smirked, holding his hand out to take the rest of James’ paper money. James grumbled, and slapped the dog-eared paper notes into Abraxas’ hands. Damn the Malfoys and their property genius….

Tobias’ turn was interrupted when he dropped the dice, clasping his left arm with a hiss. James and Abraxas looked up.

Tobias stood immediately, his clothing melding seamlessly into his Death Eater robes. He looked at the two, and took a deep breath.

“It’s time.”

The Dark Lord stood in the midst of his followers, staring in disbelief at an empty spot beside Severus.

“Severus…where is your son?”

Severus swallowed. Damn the boy….if that little whelp got him whipped…..

“He should be here, my Lord. He knows the rules…” Severus said smoothly, trying to keep his own arse out of boiling water.

There was a whooshing noise in the nearby woods, and three loud crashes.

“Dammit, ‘Bias! I thought you learned how to land!”

“It’s harder with three people, you fucked-up beast! Abraxas, get your elbow out of my eye!”

“Sorry, you little snot. You’ve completely ruined my robes…ow! Your mask cut me!”

Severus stiffened, and then put his hand to his masked face. It was going to be a long….long….very long night.

The three boys emerged from the trees, James in the lead, all looking tousled with leaves and twigs stuck to their hair and clothes. Abraxas picked a few leaves out of his flaxen hair, an annoyed look on his face.

“What is this? You have the audacity to bring strangers to one of my Summons, young Snape? That is an offense punishable by death.”

The three froze, and turned to the crimson-eyed wizard, who had broken the circle to see what the ruckus was. James ruffled his wings, his tail swishing out behind him. He was hit at once with the cloud of darkness, his eyes fading to a very familiar serpentine crimson. Voldemort’s own scarlet eyes were drawn to the beast, and they stared at each other for what seemed like hours. Everyone around them was quiet, watching the two.

“So you’re the Dark Lord.” James finally said, stepping towards the pale man.

“Yes. And you’re James Potter.”

James gave a deep rumble in response. The Dark Lord walked around James, looking him up and down. He watched with interest as James’ tail swished back and forth, studied the boy’s wings as they ruffled, and even watched as James’ ears twitched at noises around them. He was quite an anomaly, an interesting subject.

“So you’re the one who has wiped the memory of one of my servants.”

“He was not yours at the time. And even though he bears your Mark, he will always be my friend.” James said, looking Voldemort in the eyes. And Voldemort hated that.

“Insolent child….just like your father. You don’t know when to keep your mouth shut.”

Voldemort sent an incredibly fast hex at Tobias, but the hex dissipated only a few inches from the dark youth, leaving both Tobias and Voldemort bewildered.

“Don’t try that again, or I’ll have to rebound it…and we all know what happened last time you had a curse rebound on you…” James said darkly. There were a few murmurs behind them as the servants disapproved of the way James talked to their master.

“You have audacity, Young Potter….and I’m not sure I like it.”

Tobias took a step forward, a frown on his face. “Shut up, James. You’re such a selfish arse sometimes.” Tobias hissed.

“I must agree with your friend, Young Potter. I can make his and his father’s life very….difficult….and you’re doing nothing to alleviate my inclination to harm them…”

James suddenly bristled, spreading his wings slightly and baring his fangs. He suddenly found several wands trained on him, and a split-second later he found Tobias’ as well.

And the darkness in their intent had an interesting effect on him. He fell to his knees, and his arms went over his head. Voldemort looked up to his servants.

“Who cast a spell?”

But no one had cast anything. Whatever was going on with James was self-inflicted. James’ arms fell away from his face, and he snarled and growled as if in pain. He scratched at the side of his arm violently, breaking the skin. He let out a howl as something else broke the skin on both arms.

Three curved bones emerged, sharp as blades, the flesh healing around them immediately. James’ hands then flew to his ears, which lengthened and spiked to an even sharper angle at the tip. His tail swung viciously, splitting at the tip to form a bi-tip. He leaned forward, spitting out blood, and throwing back his head to howl as shorter fangs formed beside his original lethal ones, and spiky fangs grew from his lower teeth, giving him the appearance of some sort of demon.

When the transformation was complete, he went forward on his hands, gasping as the pain melded into a pleasant tingling.

“Well that was fucked-up and slightly entertaining to watch.” Abraxas said.

James stood to his feet, looking at the curved bone pieces protruding from his arms. They could be used as a weapon if he moved his arm the right way. He spat on the ground again, the taste of blood still in his mouth. He ran his tongue over the new fangs, gnashing them experimentally.

“Son of a bitch….that hurt.” James said, stretching out, bones popping rather sickeningly.

He looked around at the masked faces, registering the shock and interest in the eyes of each Death Eater.

“Well….this has been educational and interesting….I’m hungry.” He said, and his stomach growled as if on cue. He looked at Voldemort. “Hey…you wouldn’t happen to have someone around here you don’t really want…? I can make the kill quick…” James said, looking at the group hungrily. Abraxas cuffed James around the back of the head.

“James! Shut up you idiot. You’re going to get us all killed.” He snapped. Voldemort turned to Abraxas, stepping close to him.

“Who are you?”

Abraxas went to his knees, bowing to the Dark Lord.

“I am Abraxas Malfoy, brother of Draca Malfoy, son of Draco Malfoy, and heir to the Malfoy dynasty.” He said. There were more murmurs, and one Death Eater stepped forward, white-blonde hair sticking out of his hood.

“Prove it.” He growled. Abraxas stood, and pulled the collar of his robes aside, revealing a perfect five-point star mark on his collar bone.

“The Malfoy heir birth mark. You have one on your own collar bone.” Abraxas said. Voldemort turned to the blonde Death Eater.

“Is that true, Lucius? Is this the future Malfoy heir?”

The blonde Death Eater stood shocked for a moment, before pulling off his mask to reveal the face of Lucius Malfoy.

“It’s true, My Lord.” He said softly, watching as Abraxas straightened his collar. There really was no denying the boy was a Malfoy. His hair color and facial structure was so very similar…

James looked around at the group, gathering the darkness within him like a squirrel would gather nuts. This meeting hadn’t quite gone as planned, and he needed to do something about it. A slow, almost eerie smile appeared on his face when he thought about an old Muggle movie he used to watch with his dad.

He put his fingers to his lips, and let out a shrill whistle, calling the attention back to himself. “If I could have your attention please…” he started, his glowing red eyes flitting from each face to make sure they were indeed paying attention. They were.

“We all got off to a rocky start….and I think it would behoove us all to…start over.” He said. He held up his palm, and a small white sphere formed, spinning and whirling like a small world.

“What is this? You think to command my Death Eaters? Foolish boy…”

Voldemort sounded pissed.

“Not command them…persuade them…” he said. The white orb flashed suddenly, catching every one of them by surprise. Once it flashed, it faded from his palm, leaving dazed Death Eaters, and a dazed Voldemort behind. Voldemort’s scarlet eyes narrowed at James.

“Who are you?”

James’ grin widened, and he bowed to Voldemort.

“James Potter at your service…”

As for what James did to Voldemort, think about the movie Men In Black, and how they made people forget about the aliens. It worked as a group-wide Obliviate....
